Perfect size!
If you're looking for your first cast iron skillet, this is the perfect size! Just big enough for two servings of chicken. Maybe only one steak at a time, but two if smaller. I only cook for one, so this is perfect! Greta price too!
Excellent product.
Excellent product. Arrived quickly. I’ve yet to use it, but have used an older version, hence the purchase of this one. Quite heavy but does a brilliant job of cooking pretty much anything you can do in a pan. Easy wipe down after use.
Lodge cast iron skillet 26 cm
I'm very happy with my purchase.
Great customer service by eyelyn
Elelyn (hope I spelt that right) was genuine and helpful in helping me figure out the best pan to buy for my needs (mainly steaks).
Recommended kitchen staple
Beautiful cast iron skillet, second time cooking a Greek chicken and rice dish baked in oven with the skillet. Prepping the skillet by seasoning in the oven was unproblematic, cooking since has been done with ease, as with cleaning. Highly recommend.
Great first skillet
Bought this for my mum for Mother's Day as she's always wanted a cast iron skillet. Is a great skillet for those who haven't used one before. Is so convenient that it is pre-seasoned, although we did season it ourselves too before using.
Whether for Surf or Turf, this skillet is AWESOME!
You gotta love this heavy duty cast-iron skillet. Nothing radiates heat like it . . . whether frying fish, or smothering rabbits, the food cooks evenly and deliciously!
received different item
I ordered the 10" skillet that was supposed to come with a red silicone sleeve to go over the handle.
Product is as posted.Great for daily use! Cooks food evenly and using it on medium low heat is fine for daily cooking as it retains heat well.Do not buy any cast iron pan without researching how to clean and season it. Buyer should be responsible. Seeing complaints here about rust and it's not Lodge, it's the lack of research and care from the Buyer.
Poor shipping with no protection, arrived chipped!
The skillet arrived shipped inside a box much larger than the item itself, with only some paper and it was damaged (chipped) as a result. There was no interior box, foam, bubble wrap, or any kind of cushioning to protect it. I returned the item and even though Williams Sonoma has logged it as returned, they still (as of this writing) have not sent out a replacement, and it remains to be seen as to whether the replacement is shipped in a more protective packaging.
Absolutely excellent, well worth the price. Cooking is my passion and this is the best skillet I have ever owned. I highly recommend the Lodge brand. It is thick and distributes the heat very evenly. Just make certain you do not wash with detergent or use to cook acidic foods such as tomato sauce or vinegar. With eggs, pancakes, steaks or vegetables, it gives a very nice texture and makes the best bacon cornbread, and eggplant, etc. It is non-stick without the dangerous chemicals other nonstick skillets employ. I give this skillet the highest recommendation.
Perfect addition to standard pots, pans and fry pans
Looks exactly like the picture and impressively solid. Cooks evenly and is definitely an 'heirloom' piece- it feels like it will last forever. Best thing? Cleans easily and looks great on the stove.
The Lodge 10.25" skillet has remained more or less the same over the past 100+ years with relatively minor changes made. This piece of cookware is not like all the other modern disposable pieces of cookware in that it does require a fair bit of tender love and care. In return, this skillet will likely outlast you and several generations of your progeny. Cast iron is brittle, so it should not be subject to large impact forces or thermal shock. However, it can actually stand up to a lot of abuse. You should not expose this pan to a lot of liquid whilst not in the process of cooking or it will rust. That means that it is not dishwasher safe. Cast iron is also a relatively poor conductor of heat, but the skillet is heavy so it has a lot of thermal mass, which means that once the pan gets hot, it stays hot, which helps the pan to maintain a consistent temperature for even cooking. Cast iron cooking varies quite a bit compared to the cooking methods most us are used to now. Once you learn the quirks of the pan, however, it will serve you well.
I had a nonstick start to peel and then I realized that I’m replacing nonstick pans every 1-2 years. After researching for yet another nonstick pan, I came across cast irons. Now I’ve seen these hunks of metal around but due to the weight I never understood why people have them. Now I know. Yes they’re heavy, yes, they have to be maintained. However there is no danger of plastic crap peeling in your food, ever! They’ll last longer than you will on this earth! They’re affordable as well. I’ve already cooked pancakes, eggs, chicken and next is bacon and popovers. With a bit of initial seasoning in the oven, (2x, in 450 degree oven for one hour) they’re nonstick now. I’ll never need any other pans!
Excellent cast iron skillet
The Logic 26cm cast iron skillet is versatile, durable and of the highest quality. It heats quickly and stays warm to make searing, frying, baking, and other cooking tasks a breeze. The manufacturers pre-seasoned the skillet with natural oils that give it a coating that prevents food from sticking and adds flavour. It has a secure handle with a hole for hanging, and a helping handle for simpler lifting. It can withstand temperatures up to 260C in the oven and works with all stovetops, including induction.
I honestly don't remember why I even wound up buying this 12 inch Lodge cast iron skillet. It might have been for the first time I tried following a recipe to make Southern-style fried chicken at home. I ordered it from Amazon and I don't remember the exact price but I think it was in the $30 range. I had never used cast iron before and quickly learned that it wasn't automatically non-stick despite the fact that the company described it as "pre-seasoned". I've tried several different methods of seasoning it but to this day all of these years later I would never describe it as remotely close to "non-stick". I've tried all sorts of ways to clean it including just wiping it out with paper towels, hand-washing with some dish soap, and I believe I even ran it through the dishwasher once. Nothing has helped/hurt with the "seasoning" of the pan. There really doesn't seem to be anything that sticks for very long. (no pun intended) Unless I am cooking a well-marbled steak I *always* add oil to this pan before putting anything else into it. I didn't have much use for this Lodge 12 Inch Cast Iron Skillet when I lived at the house and had regular access to a gas grill in the backyard. These days I am in an apartment so I use this skillet for pan-searing burgers, chicken breasts, steaks, pork chops, etc. at high temperatures to get good color on them. I've done Southern-style corn bread in it along with a few other things. I like that this skillet is so durable. It will last forever and then some. The price is nice. I've just had to learn to accept that I will never get a good seasoning layer in it and cooking eggs in it will have to remain a fantasy. I'm still very happy to have it in my kitchen repertoire, though.
This is the perfect skillet for one or two people. Even though it is pre-seasoned, food will most likely stick the first few times you use it. Be patient and plan to use a small bit of muscle to clean it the first 5-6 times. The payoff will be a wonderful, small pan that doesn’t weigh much, becomes virtually non-stick after several uses and cooks food to absolute perfection. The skillet heats quickly and is perfect for eggs, steaks, boneless chicken and most anything you want. It is best to stay away from tomato based products because of the acid in tomatoes, but that is the only limitation that I know of.
Cast iron is great easy to clean! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I wash it with some dish soap and a piece of a blue scrubby. Then I dry it out right away, pour a bit of vegetable oil in it use a paper towel to wipe it around. If you cook at home I think it's well worth the $15 this cost me! I am cooking enough now that I say eventually drop big money on an enamel coated dutch oven but I am in love with this in the mean time. I have had this skillet a few months now. At first I only cooked bacon in it a few times- (I was scared stuff would stick, I have no idea if that fear was warranted but nothing sticks now), then it started to develop a nice patina it and I have been cooking almost everything in it since! The other day I made creamed corn cornbread in it which turned out perfect and just this now I used it to make peppers, onions, black beans and eggs, no sticking and everything tastes so good in it!
I can't live without my Lodge cast iron skillet. I've been using mine for at least 7 years and I got it as a gift. It is the only frying pan that I use when I cook burgers hot dogs eggs bacon potatoes. It's easy to clean and I season it every so often and got to always make sure after I clean it too put some shortening in it to keep it from rusting. Even though of course it's kind of heavy but it will last a lifetime plus more, it is easy to clean and you could cook anything in it and of course you can put it in the oven. Large is the most trusted name for cast iron and plus it's made here in Tennessee where I live. I certainly don't need any fancy panz especially with all the celebrities which are a waste of money. Large lasts a lifetime plus more it Cooks great cleans great and easy .
This bad boy is a beast! It is heavy duty and I imagine it'll last us a lifetime. I've had it for a little over a year now and it finally feels 'broken in' and well seasoned. It came 'pre-seasoned', but it just didn't feel the same as our old reliable cast iron skillet (that's over 90 years old). After using the Lodge pan a ton, baking in it, frying in it, seasoning it, and doing it all again, it's finally perfect! It is basically like a non-stuck pan now. It distributes heat evenly, is easy to clean, and is so versatile. We even use it as the weight to press tofu with (it is HEAVY). Heck, you could even scare off a home intruder with it...if you're strong enough to lift it to swing it at someone. Haha just kidding! Lodge makes great pans. I'm exited to continue using this for the next 30+ years...and I'm excited to see how it improves over time.
