Pretty but far from perfect

This was poorly packaged, so it arrived with the door partly smashed in. Also, the protective Styrofoam insert was stuck to the glass and when removed it left a patch of residue. When I attempted to remove the residue, the pink (NOT purple as described) color on the glass came off so there is now a weird blotchy portion on one of the glass panels.

Would have been perfect, but...

I purchased this lantern to make a birthday present for someone. It would have been perfect, except that inside the lantern was a foam disc, placed there to insure that the acrylic panels would not be damaged, but it was taped in place. I don't know how old this tape was, but I first tried to remove it with Goo Gone (left side), and when that failed, I tried alcohol (right side), and because the color was only coated and not cast, the alcohol took it off. Now I will either have to go with clear panels or buy new panels, which will cost nearly as much as the lantern. Also, the color is more violet than purple, as you can see in the picture.
