very powerful for a tabletop fan
I like the 3 speed option, %26 the fan is very powerful for only a tabletop fan. However, the tilt option of the fan is difficult to maneuver. On 2 separate occasions, while the fan was running, I attempted to tilt the fan, %26 this didnt work, the fan blades hit the sides of the guard, %26 large pieces of the blades broke off!! So now if I wish to tilt the fan, I turn it off first.
Working well
Got the product 2 days after I ordered it. Fast shipping. Product was about what I expected. Only problem was the instructions. Front and back cover but no instructions inside. Assembly was easy enough to figure out by the illustration on the box cover though so it really wasn't a problem. It's working well so I'm satisfied.
The Lasko 12" fan is exactly what I wanted. Powerful, lightweight, and quiet. Delivery was super fast and I assembled it in less than 5 minutes. Looks good and is well made.
I have this fan I every room..in New York you need some sort of air vent going around in room to get moving for fresh air. Easy installing. Pretty sound.
It beat my expectations! great buy!
AMAZING! Blows harder than a box fan! i put it on the floor by my bed and adjusted the neck of the fan, thats how great it blows! lasko brand never fails! im very happy with this fan! it was easy to put together too!
TOTAL PLASTIC
When I was searching for a small fan I used the search term “metal” fan and this was one of the models that was shown. I read the product description and it doesn’t say that everything about this fan is flimsy PLASTIC. Oh there may be a couple of metal screws! It does blow air and it makes enough noise to satisfy me (my main use for a fan). But very disappointed in the quality. I’ve included a photo of it in all its plastic glory.
Poor, very flimsy
the assembly instructions are a bare minimum, show what, not how. Physical force often needed to attach parts. Tech help no help. Control knobs not on base, but on back of motor unit. Fan grill is snap-in, comes out easily, as when touched to use control knob or very narrow handle to move fan. Not as quiet as other fans. all in all, a very flimsy object.
I don't understand why so many people complained that it was hard to assemble. I put it together in about a min. and didn't even read the instructions. It works great!! Im very happy. I bought it to replace a fan I had just bought that was so loud especially on low and med. This one has little sound but enough to give me the white noise I need to sleep.
I just got this today. It was very easy to assemble. The instructions are very clear, both written and visual. It took about maybe 8minute to assemble, maybe less. The fan is relatively quite. It does make some noise on startup as there is a small amount of backlash in the slot on the blade mount when it fits onto the motor shaft. This does not seem to be an issue with its operation though.
Died in less than 8 weeks!
I had written a positive review less than 8 weeks ago but this fan died with only limited use! In all honesty it probably was on the lowest level for 72 hours before it just stopped. I had commented on this fan being a replacement for the similar version of the same brand (Lasko) and this newer version was all plastic and flimsy. I am returning it for a refund!
Also 12" table fan
I haven't had the need to turn on the fan because it's still Wintertime in Iowa, but I tested the fan to hear the silence. Good to go. Plus it's a beautiful fan. Look forward to turning it on. Thank you Office Depot. My first time ordering from your store and I look forward to ordering again - Rosemarie

I AM GOING TO LEAVE MY INITIAL REVIEW, JUST BELOW, BUT WANT TO EXPLAIN MY IRE. ONE OF MY NEIGHBORS JUST PUT ONE OF THESE FANS, ALSO IN BLACK, OUT AS A ''FREE FOR THE TAKING.'' SINCE I WAS PLANNING TO GET ANOTHER FAN, MOST PROBABLY ONE OF THESE, FOR THE GUEST BEDROOM, I TOOK IT HOME. AND THEN I DISCOVERED HOW THE MFGER HAS CHEAPENED DOWN THE DESIGN. IT TURNS OUT THAT THE SHAFT BETWEEN THE MECHANISM AND THE BASE USED TO BE ROUND, AS IT IS ON THE FREEBIE I JUST ACQUIRED.... AND AT THE BOTTOM OF IT, THERE IS A "WRISTBAND" THAT IS ABOUT 1'' TALL AND GOES ALL AROUND THAT SHAFT. IT HAS SETTINGS FROM ZERO (WHICH IS THE OFF POSITION) TO FOUR, THUS ALLOWING FOR ALL THE SPEED OPTIONS THAT THE CURRENT MODEL PROVIDES. NO NEED TO REACH BEHIND TO ACCESS IT. IT IS DIRECTLY IN FRONT. ON THAT OLDER MODEL, THE ONLY NEED TO REACH BEHIND THE BLADES IS TO CHOOSE BETWEEN OSCILLATING AND NOT OSCILLATING. HAVING TO KEEP REACHING BEHIND TO TURN MY FAN ON AND OFF HAS REALLY ANNOYED ME. I HAVE OWNED IT FOR OVER A MONTH AND A HALF AND MY IRRITATION HAS NOT DIMINISHED ONE BIT. HENCE MY REDUCTION TO THREE STARS, WHICH I REALLY OUGHT TO HAVE DONE ANYWAY AT THIS POINT. I CONSOLE MYSELF WITH THE THOUGHT THAT THE UNIVERSE HAS GIVEN ME A CONSOLATION PRIZE. I WILL USE THIS NEW ONE IN MY BEDROOM AND GRACIOUSLY MAKE THE SWITCH TO THE GUEST BEDROOM WHEN IT IS OCCUPIED BY GUESTS. ___________________________________________________ HERE IS MY ORIGINAL REVIEW, ALL OF WHICH IS STILL HOW I FEEL ABOUT THIS FAN. JUST KNOW THAT YOU ARE BEING SHORT-CHANGED IF YOU BUY IT. BUT IT'S STILL PROBABLY THE BEST OF WHAT Home Essentials Direct HAS TO OFFER AND THE BLACK..WHICH COSTS MORE FOR SOME REASON.. IS QUITE STYLISH, I THINK. THERE ARE NIGHTS WHEN I USE A FAN EVEN THOUGH IT ISN'T HOT. I LIKE THE AIR MOVEMENT AND THE WHITE NOISE. I HAVE BEEN USING MY OLD LASKO WINDOW FAN FOR AT LEAST 12 YEARS AND IT IS STILL FUNCTIONING PERFECTLY. BUT, I NEEDED SOMETHING SMALLER FOR NIGHTS WHEN THE WINDOW IS CLOSED; IT JUST TAKES UP TOO MUCH ROOM. SO, I READ REVIEWS CAREFULLY AND DECIDED TO STICK WITH LASKO. I BOUGHT THE BLACK ONE. I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THIS FAN'S INITIAL OPERATION. AS OTHERS HAVE MENTIONED, IT MOVES A GOODLY AMOUNT OF AIR, EVEN ON THE NUMBER ONE SETTING...THE SAME SETTING I TYPICALLY USED FOR THE WINDOW FAN EXCEPT UNDER HOT CONDITIONS. THE WHITE NOISE PRODUCED ON THAT LEVEL IS ALSO IDEAL FOR ME, THOUGH SIGNIFICANTLY QUIETER THAN THE LARGER FAN I SEE NO NEED FOR THE OSCILLATING FUNCTION SO I PULLED THE LITTLE STACK-LIKE THING ON THE BACK OF THE FAN AND HAVE IT ONLY IN STATIONARY POSITION. IF THE DIAGRAMS ON THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE A BIT MORE OBVIOUS, IT WOULD HAVE HELPED. THAT AND IF I HADN'T MADE IT MORE COMPLICATED THAN IT NEEDED TO BE. OH WELL, RIGHT? BOTTOM LINE..THIS IS A WORTHWHILE PURCHASE AND I DON'T THINK YOU'LL BE DISAPPOINTED. ALSO..IT'S AESTHETICALLY PLEASING IN ITS FASHIONABLY BLACK FINISH. "EVERY ROOM NEEDS A LITTLE BASIC BLACK," OR SO I'VE BEEN TOLD. SEEMS TRUE. AND MUCH NICER TO LOOK AT THAN THE WINDOW FAN.
Defective Fan.
I received the fan yesterday evening. It had all the parts to put it together witch I done when I turn it on it had a light oder of something brining. The fan put out air but a small amount at a low speed on each speed you can fill the air but you can also tell something is wrong within the fan. I dont know if it a defective fan or the motor is bad. I decided not to return the fan, just didnt feel up to going through all that so I just put it out my be someone can use it or can repair it for use. People shouldnt sell other a product they them selfs doesnt wont or not welling to repair before putting it up for other to purchase. Nina Peavy
plastic everything, even the guard
it works and is not too noisy. Everything's plastic except the motor. Looks and feels cheap. I got this to replace a bigger fan, whose plastic fan nut i ruined by removing it too often to drop oil down the bearing. Lesson learned, its not worth removing the fan just to oil it. Now I just spray it behind the fan instead without removing that nut. Would i get it again, probably not, although there is nothing really wrong with this one - it's not as big as the fan it replaced. I even tried swapping the fan nut to the old fan but it didn't fit.

Besides being cheaply made and expensive (i have paid no more than about $16.99 for these types of fans in the past), I found this fan difficult to put together. The rear grille is hard to fit on to the motor and the guard nut is difficult to screw on to secure the rear grille. The front grille is too flexible . . . never leave this fan near children or curious adults! Too bad Lasko, I've been buying your fans for ages, but I'll think twice next time!

I've had my fan for about a week now and run it every niget. It is a fantastic fan. I keep it on low and it moves the air like it is on high. I have to have cool air blowing on me at night or I can't sleep and this does the trick perfectly. The people giving negative reviews either didn't put it together properly or are expecting the impossible (which is a whisper quiet fan). This fan IS super quiet for a fan and does not keep me or my husband up at night. I would buy again.

Cheapy plastic feel. But does the job. If you want something way more powerful then look elsewhere. But this little guy does the job. Need some cool air or use it to circulate a/c air then this little guy will do the job! I'm satisfied! I use it for my little girls room to circulate a/c air and keep it high above so that she doesn't play with it. It isn't built for kids to play with. It can break easy if played with. Well built and sturdy but not for kids! The grill can pop off if not careful. But does its job well!

For a cheap fan, it's pretty quiet. However, the settings are all too strong and the item is cheaply constructed. I wanted to use this on my nightstand while I watched TV. My cheap desk fan was simply too noisy. This is quieter, not quiet enough, but the lowest setting is too powerful. I've had to move my Vornado into my room to peform this task. It is very quiet and the lowest setting is perfect for what I want, but that's a very expensive fan and I like to use it to circulate air in the living room. This Lasko is now set to circulating air in the living room, and it does a pretty good job and it's quiet enough for this task even on the highest setting.

I just got this today. It was very easy to assemble. The instructions are very clear, both written and visual. It took about maybe 8 minutes to assemble, maybe less. The fan is relatively quite. It does make some noise on startup as there is a small amount of backlash in the slot on the blade mount when it fits onto the motor shaft. This does not seem to be an issue with its operation though. When the fan is pointing up and in oscillation mode, it's movements tend to jerk as it passes its center of motion. This does not happen when the fan is pointing straight ahead. The 3 speeds are very good and move a good quantity of air. It is all plastic with the exception of the motor/shaft assembly but everything fit together well. I am very happy with this purchase.

I've had the fan for two hours and it moves air just fine. However, there are some design decisions that you should be aware of: 1. the on/off/3-speed-control is on top of the motor behind the fan cage. There are no buttons on the base so be prepared to stand up to turn on and off. 2. the power chords does not originate from the base but from higher up below the motor assembly. Thus the chords drapes over items on your desk or table. Lovely? No, not really. 3. The fan cage is made from very soft plastic so you should not grab the cage to re-position the fan as the cage flexes quite a bit. Grab it by the motor housing or perhaps the base. 4. The whole plastic thing snaps together well enough except the two halves of the fan cage. These snap together but not with the confidence or ease of the other snaps. Still mine came together with a little work. Well, I bought cheap and got cheap. Still, I need a small fan and this will do.
