The most important feature of the induction cook top is the safety features: On/off button, having to unlock before the cook top can be turned on, and the cool down when the cook top is turned off. I had another brand of induction cook top that turned on, meaning that the plug would 'spark' when it was being plugged it, and there was no cool down of the coil when it was turned off (end of cooking). I would recommend purchasing.

Love it

We moved into an apartment ...all electric. After cooking with gas for years, this is a GREAT purchase as I do not have to wait for glass top stove to warm up. I use it for breakfast everyday. The stove feels neglected.

Wanted to like it

I was so excited to get this product. It was worked hard for the first month as I used it almost every day. No problems. Plugged it in one night to make dinner -- and no heat. I did all the trouble shooting tips in the booklet, nothing. Had to go to the electronic recycling. Very disappointed.

Miracle Cook Surface

Bought this on a whim, now I seldom use my electric range top. I live alone and use small Allclad cookware. The best eggs or burgers, steak and chops. Temperature control is instant. I could ditch my slide in and replace with a couple of these and the French door oven on the Q. I even make large pot chile.

I would not buy this product

Most inductions work with aluminum based pans. This one only works with stainless steel

Didn't work for me!

I purchased this because it said that it would work with stainless steel and as that's pretty much all I have I thought great. Well it does not work with my stainless, so I sent it back. Now I have to waste all that shipping cost because the information on line was wrong.

shipping

Product arrived broken...damaged in shipment. No apparent damage on box but when opened...cracked. this item should have been put in a bigger box with packing to protect. It is glass topped. There wasn't even a label saying glass on it.

Great Small Kitchen Appliance

When I originally received this product I almost sent it back as I had no idea that my cookware wouldn't work on it. After researching, I found that my stainless steel tea kettle and one large, older steel pot that I had would work with it. I have been so delighted with it that I've since ordered, on two seperate occassions, two different induction pans - both Swiss Diamond, which do not rattle on the "burner." I've used it daily since I received the pans and I'm delighted with it! It heats quickly and is very easy to control. I'm so glad I didn't return it ... that I took time to research the unit itself and the appropriate cookware. Would highly recommend it to those who want to begin using induction. So nice, in the summer heat, to have something that doesn't warm the entire house! Also, easy to clean!

This product is wonderful

I live in an assisted living facility. I still wanted to be able to cook more in my apartment than just In the microwave. Now I cook chicken and dumplings, pot roast, plus many other things. My only regret is having given away all of my pots and pans before moving in. I had to re buy another set of stainless steel Cooks Essentials. No regrets LOVE this product.

If all else fails, try follinging the directions!

My father used to irritate me with that comment but all these years later of course I realize he was absolutely right. Read the instructions for this unit and you'll have no problem with it. It's pretty simple and easy to use and a great asset when you need an extra burner or maybe you just need one for a cabin with electricity or a room or whatever. Make sure you have a magnetic pot or pan and you are good to go. The unit itself does not get hot other than the minor residual heat that comes from the pans after using it and it cools quickly with it's own internal fan. Make sure it is balanced wherever you place it, I had a slight slant where I first used it and some water boiled out and spilled onto the unit between the pan and the unit, and once the hard boiled eggs got jumping around in the pan the vibration of the pan and the wetness made it slide a little bit. Keep excess water etc. off the unit and keep it balanced where you place it and you should have no problem. This "induction" unit is far superior to the old blazing red hot burners of the old days. I like this unit very much.

Broken

This product was broken out of the box and would not turn on properly. So sad I was not able to utilize over the holidays. Going back.

Good Decision

Never knew these existed until I saw the infomercial for a more expensive model.

very helpful

I have a very expensive glass top stove, but it has only ONE burner that I can control. I have burned food because I could not get the burner to cook on simmer---everything was high heat--no matter the setting, except for the lone burner. So far, I like the new induction cooktop. I have had it about a week or two and have enjoyed using it. Nothing has burned!!!!! And I like that there is no surface heating up. I'm glad I ordered it.

Love it

I have wanted an induction cook-top for several years so I recently purchased this to make sure I would like it without spending a lot of money. I love it so much that I am purchasing a second one. I researched induction cooking and found out that it is much more efficient than gas cooking and offers the same instant heat control. I have only been using this for about two weeks and have not had any problems except having to buy new cookware to work on it, but it is worth it. I highly recommend this to anyone that wants the instant control of gas without the messy cleanup of drip pans.

The Perfect Additional Cooktop Burner

We needed an additional burner in our kitchen and the SPT 1300W Induction Cooktop Burner is perfect for us. While it won't work on every pot and pan we have in our kitchen, it works wonderfully with those pots and pans that a magnet will stick to - and we have LOTS of those. This wonderful tool is always out and ready for work and, believe me, it will get worked to the max! (LOL)

Great kitchen addition!

I purchased this burner to augment my Jennaire cooktop. Been wanting an induction burner for some time, and have no clue why I waited as long as I did! Brings water up to a boil very rapidly, and able to change heat temps in an instant. Cast iron use is a breeze! Only drawback?? That two of my frypans from my Technique Tri-ply Stainless set do not work on it! But thats not the burner's fault, its a poor QC issue with the Q!
