Reviews
I want to address the complaints I saw in reviews before my purchase having to do with the pot not being able to be completely emptied into the reservoir. It prevents you from overflowing the reservoir.
Great then not so great 14 cup
This is our third one. We really like this 14 cup pot. The burner got stuck on on our first one, the burner wouldn’t work on the second and this one has some of the display stop working so you can’t program it. We are going to send it back and might try a different brand.
No accessories available for this coffee maker
I did not need 14 cup coffee maker, but I liked the features. The 14 cup option is not useable because Mr. Coffee does not sell a 14 cup filter. They designed a larger coffee maker without any available accessories. I believe a replaceable 14 cup carafe is now available. I have never had a carafe break, but I have taken note of the problems some reviews have had. I cannot recommend this coffee maker until accessories are available
This is not a 14 cup coffee maker
This is not a 14 cup coffee maker. My wife put exactly 9 (8ounce) measuring cups of water into this machine. It holds exactly 72 ounces. Even if you divide this by a 6 ounce cup you only get 12 cups. This is false information and advertising by Mr. Coffee. I want a refund so that I can buy a 12 cup coffee maker and not pay for a 14 cup coffee maker and get a 12 cup one and charged for the 14 cup coffee maker.
Upgrade Worth it!
We decided to upgrade from the $30-35 Mr. Coffee we have been getting to get the 14 cup plus the sides that would help keep it warmer longer with the burner off. Loving those features, but even more we are loving the way this pot feels in your hand when you pour a mug; smooth and sturdy. The way the top of the pot is designed, we no longer splash out coffee all over the counter, especially when going for the first cup or two of the morning. The 14 cup pot is easier to handle than the 12 cup.
In short works for a month the stops
It work for a month. Turned it on one day it tried to brew with the brew later button. Okay maybe I made the mistake and pushed the wrong button. Did that a couple of times after. It just did it again and I unplugged it again and now it will not turn back on.
no complaints. love it!
I am a person who needs to make my coffee the night before and hit a button for it to be ready when I wake up so I smell the aroma. I like this one because it's larger than the last one I had and I can make as many cups as I'd like. I did spend $6 For the generic reusable coffee filter sold online as well to use with this and it works like a charm. I don't like the idea of buying coffee filters and running out!
Quit in under 3 months
purchased this Mr. Coffee within the last 3 months. It was working like it should until yesterday. When I went for my second cup of coffee it was barely warm. lights were still on, set to keep warm for 4 hrs, and it had only been about 1 hour. So i had a warm cup of coffee. Last nite I prepared my coffee as usual and set it to brew for 8 a.m. Didn't come on. I tried every option for trouble shooting on the Mr. Coffee site. All light and programs appear to work, but it will not brew.
Does *Not* Include Resuable Filter
Walmart's Description shows that this included a reusable filter. It does not. Apparently there are several versions of these same coffee maker. Some include the basket, some do not. I thought I chose one that did based on Walmart's description that clearly said it did. I called Mr. Coffee to see if I could order one separately. 45 minutes with a foreign call center, only to find out they do NOT have the filter and do NOT have any idea when, or if, they will ever be available. I will never buy Mr. Coffee again.
Buy something else
Had this 3 months and now you have to unplug it to turn it off otherwise the burner stays on. Pushing the buttons only make the buttons light up- makes no difference to how it operates. Can still make coffee with it if you just have to have some coffee but for $65 every thing should still be working properly after only 3 months. I recommend buying another brand, or maybe a cheaper model so when it quits working properly you won’t be out so much money.
BEWARE
I bought this machine about 2 months ago. I accidentally broke the glass carafe.
Fire hazard
Maybe it was just our luck of the draw but we got a severely defective coffee machine. First month seemed fine and dandy until we came home to a house smelling burnt. The coffee pot never turned off despite the light being off indicating that it should have been indeed shut off. ALL the coffee that was in the pot and had evaporated, the remaining coffee bjrned to the pot and my counter and walls were HOT. Its constantly on brew mode even when its not supposed to be.
Coffee Maker
I know Mr. Coffee is a good brand, but this coffee maker makes a lot of noise. The one I had before was an unknown brand to me and it hardly made any noise…I wanted to return it, but I had already thrown the box. I’ve had my share of Mr. Coffee’s before and I always had problems with them, since I hadn’t bought one in a long time, I thought I would give it a try, but no, they haven’t been improved, at all!
Great coffee maker
Brews quickly and has a 14 cup capacity. Plus a 1-4 cup brewing selection. I hope it lasts a long time because it’s a good machine. I’ve had horrible luck with other cheaper models only lasting a year or so. That’s why I upgraded to a slightly more expensive model.
Coffee grounds
The grounds always end up in my coffee. I tried larger filters. This is a problem with all there products I have several models and it happens on all of them!! The water don’t flow out fast enough and then the incoming water over flows the top of the filter.
Love it!
We drink a lot of coffee %26 have had lots of coffee makers. This Mr Coffee with the extra large decanter suits our needs. Easy to clean. The warmer feature keeps the coffee hot without burning it. We definitely recommend this brand %26 specific model.
packing should be better
the way things are handled nowadays packages especially dealing with breakable items should have extra padding. When first pulling out the coffee pot and took out of the bag the handle on the pot was broken. This is my 2nd 14 cup and hoping this one stays working longer than a month
Cheap Plastic Garbage
It’s a coffee pot. It does it’s job.
worked fine, 4 months later its turned to crap
i didn't really have an opinion about the coffee maker, but now that im having issues with it, I'd like it to be known. it was working fine when i got it, my dad and i drink coffee very regularly, but about 3 months in it started doing weird things and now, whenever we try to brew coffee it immediately goes into keep warm mode and stops brewing mid brew. any time we retry brewing, the same thing happens. I've had to toss out half full pots of coffee because it's not brewing it correctly. It's going haywire, and we've only had it for maybe 6 months. not to mention the top that you open to pour in the coffee gets warped everytime coffee brews because of the heat and its plastic. do not recommend. for the price, the quality is 2 out of 5 stars.
Does not shut off
I bought this coffee maker about 6 months ago and have really enjoyed it until I didn't. I came home the other day after 12 hours of being at work. I turned the coffee pot off before leaving (use the auto shutoff as a backup), and when I returned home, I kept hearing the coffee maker click. I go over to it and see that even though it is off, the heating element is still on, and the coffee in the carafe was burnt and nearly gone out of the pot. I was so thankful that I'd returned home before it was too late. Normally, I would have shrugged this off as an isolated incident, but I see that others here and on the Mr. Coffee's FAQ site have said the same thing - the only way to turn the coffee pot off is to unplug it. As soon as it's plugged back it, it immediately starts to percolate.
