This is a very easy electrical outlet to use. In fact, in the packaging is a sheet of paper that goes into reasonable detail about the type of outlet that this GFCI outlet can replace. That is invaluable information all in one place.

I’m replacing the exact same GFCI outlet. The last outlet failed after about five years. I’m a bit disappointed that the original outlet only lasted five years. I expect more from a Leviton Product.

Connection order not the same as old one

Works fine, but I was replacing an old one and i didnt know the newer GFI have reversed the way its connected. The hot wires are not connected in the same order as the older one that I was replacing.

Outlet worked once installed. Problem was with instruction sheet. I took photos of the bad outlet and how wires were connected. Installed wires on new outlet same as old outlet, power to outlet but outlet didn’t work. Googled proble, and had to switch wires to get outlet to work.

Exactly what is needed, no more, no less -- solid construction, easy to attach wires to, and the Load terminals are clearly marked. I like that the "test" and "reset" buttons are in the same color, for a more subtle look. Plugs hold securely -- replace any outlets you have that don't securely hold plugs! Price is good, too.

This outlet was easy to install. Please note the line and load location on inoperable outlets compared to the Leviton outlet. I had to switch the line and load wires top to bottom and bottom to top. Basically, reversed the wiring to compensate for the line and load locations on the Leviton with respect to my old one.

This GFCI was easy to install. An extended family member had me replace old switches and outlets. This GFCI was placed in a bathroom that had a standard receptacle that was not on a GFCI protected circuit when using a tester. Family member is very pleased with the upgrade and so was I.

Screws strip

The screws on this box are very weak metal. I know they may get away with that on the non-GFCI outlets, but you need a little more force to get a GFCI outlet into the junction box since it scrapes against the edges and doesn't leave much room for the wires (even when bent neatly) so the screws should be of a higher quality. I had to break off the heads of the screws (was pretty easy with how low quality they are) pull them out, and use other screws from plastic socket cover, which worked fine. Wasted a LOT of time and made me very angry.

2 Yr warranty can be a challenge

I bought this GFCI Feb 19 based on good, past experience with the Leviton name. Installation was easy and it functioned well for 2 months but then the green LED started flashing red. Called Leviton Canada for assistance but was told they needed the model # which is apparently not on the unit, but is only on the packaging, & they directed me back to Home Depot. Eventually I determined from their website that it is model GFTR1-W. Called Leviton again & their phone system sent me to support in the US who were sympathetic but transferred me to Leviton in Pointe-Claire, QC who were on the phone so I ended up back in their menu system which, you guessed it, sent me back to the US. Spoke to a terrific person there who stayed on the line & connected me with someone in Quebec who offered to replace my defective GFCI.
