Disappointed Customer

Lowe's is a disappointment. This item arrived damaged. It rained the weekend it arrived, so I was not able to unbox and install until 3 days later. After I unboxed that's when I realized that the item was bent in 3 different places. I called to report the damages only to be told that there was nothing they could do. Policy was item has to be returned within 48hrs, to received a refund or exchange. Then, I was asked if I used a Lowe's card for purchased...??? No!! I used my personal debit card. Well, had it been a Lowe's card, they would still refund or exchange.. WOW!!! $859 gone down the drain! Thanks Lowe's, and BTW, I didn't want a refund, I was requesting for this item to be replaced.

Plug it in before you mount it

It will not power up. I have tested the outlet and it is fine. I have hired an electrician to see why it will not power because it is extremely heavy and I do not need to uninstall and try to return to Lowe's if I can help it. I should have plugged it in before I mounted it

Was told would by Delivered in 2-5 Days wated 2-Weeks Did not Rec. 1. Follow up on del! Or any calls from Home Depot or Home Depot credit co as a follow up! I have made at Least 20-25 calls to both after on hold on average of 25-minutes Or 35-45 minutes or got disconnected Or Hung up on! Finally found out it was Delivered to wrong address!! (On my own not a callback from Home Depot! If I did not call them. -who knows how long it would have taken then to actually call me? After Hours on phone and calling everyone and calling the main office in Detroit They ended up canceling my order which I found out on My Own no one Informed me of that till I saw a credit on my statement! Which was a week later!! More time Wasted! At this time my customer was going out of here mind and waving our contract at me showing the Date of all the work I was doing for them and installing the Ac Unit also on contract with time of completion!!! So the ac / heater unit was reorderd for Second time as 3-1/2 Weeks have all Ready Past and the new Order would take about 7-10 Days to get!! She went Nuts and called me every name in the book ( And I had To Stand There and take it. !!!!!) What could I do. She was a repeat customer. And she was Right to feel that Way and to make it worse she used the house as a summer home! So I tried to compensate her because she could not return to her house or job to I was completely finished —- I Gave her the $850 unit for free !! Home Depot did give me a little break on the price! (. But if you would read on my website at was even worse than I could even imagine - and that is the last thing you want people-your customers to see!! So I finally got the unit Delivered to Day! And hopefully will get paid soon since she refused to pay me because she had to take time off from her job with No Pay Days! And I had to take more of money off the Bill !! So after all this I Barely broke even!!! —- I have had problems in the past with Home Depot this one really screwed me up especially on my website I am seriously thinking of taking my Business to Lows !!

I have about 30 of these Units in rental properties. I started using this exact same LG AC w/ heat in 2012 and LG continues to use the same frame. Super easy to just slide out and replace with a newer unit. I still have many of the original 2012 units still in operation. The primary thing that fails in these after 4-5 years is the heating element. It's fairly easy to replace after the first time figuring out how to access it. I'll say the average lifespan of these is probably 6-8 years. Longer if you keep the coils clean and know how to make basic repairs like the heater coil, fan blades, and electronic control boards. In this day of throw away appliances, that's pretty dang impressive. I'll continue using until that changes.

Living in an environment where temperatures are often over 100 degrees. My shop is 900 sqft and the swamp cooler just wasn’t adequate so purchased this Air Conditioner unit. What a difference. Definitely worth the money to cool the shop and allowing me to work comfortably. I would recommend buying a unit that’s rated for a space larger than the one you’re cooling. Again my shop 900 sqft and this unit is rated for 1400 sqft.

Breaks in Texas Summer Heat first month!!

The unit installed, and it broke before the month was out! LG sent a tech who could not repair after 2 weeks wait in July heat! Today the tech is here on August 1 after having driven an hour and we are told by his supervisor we will have to wait again, instead of replacing the unit. We work remote and our office is above 84 degrees. This is Texas in August and is unacceptable!!

Requires simple modification

Almost unbearable loud noise until I added some extra padding with scrap leather. Copper refrigerant line was vibrating against steel frame. Definitely a design flaw with manufacturer’s inadequate wrap of soft foam rubber. Fortunately YouTube video helped me and it was easy fix for DIY modification. It’s functioning well now for three weeks in hot weather.

Horrible delivery service attempts. Received my unit damaged after shipment was delayed. Spoke to Home Depot Customer Service who made arrangements for return of the damaged unit and placed a new order for another unit. Another delay for pick up of the damaged unit. The "pick up" company finally called a few days after the first delay and told me their truck had broken down and they wouldnt be able to pick up my unit because it wouldnt fit in their little van. After some convincing, they agreed to come by and pick it up. They left trash (parts of the box and foam) strewn through my garage and driveway after picking the unit up. After another delay with shipment of the second unit, Estes Delivery Service arrived and tried to deliver a shower door instead of my AC. They tried to convince me that this is what I ordered. After speaking to their manager by phone, I was promised a call back same day to resolve the issue. That call never came. I spent over an hour on the phone next day with Home Depot trying to resolve and get delivery of an undamaged AC window unit. Home Depot offered me a discount but as of this point, I still have no AC. Extremely dissapointed with Home Depot and am appalled by the low level of delivery services they contract. BEWARE. I will not be ordering from Home Depot again in the future.

Expensive Garbage

Unit works great until the warranty expires! Compressor will not stop running unless unplugged. Constant freezing up the coils. LG support will only waste your time. $800 trash! Do Not Buy!!!

Does the job

Heats & cools as expected. It is replacing my central air unit and honestly does a better job. It cools much quicker at our living end of the house and keeps our Florida home nice and warm and at a much cheaper Duke Energy bill. It is a little noisy but that is to be expected when your running such a huge unit. Also it's not a one man job. Took 2 of us to rangle this big boy around.

We're gonna need a bigger hole...

Still installing, which would have gone smoother if the online measurements listed with the unit were accurate.

Cold air and quiet but still….

I installed this unit in my oversized garage/workshop. It cools very well and runs quiet. The negatives are that the side curtains just don’t work. I can’t see how to make them work. The bottom curtain rail sits 1/2 inch below the unit (which sits flat on the inside sill). So how? After installing, I used the manual to try to connect to my wifi. Says to scan the QR code with the unit on. Where is the QR code? On the side of the cabinet that is now blocked from view by the window frame. Nice design LG! Tried to add the connection manually but it didn’t work. I can live without this feature and guess I’ll have to. I made my own side curtains. Being in a garage I didn’t care.

LG 23000 btu

Hello, I am a Apartment owner in the Hi desert. I have 20 of these Units that were orignally produced by Friedrich. They work very well, until they don't. When the ambient temps reach 105 they have an internal device that shuts them dowm to protect the circuit board and throws a code of CH34. Once the unit throws a Ch34 reading the unit is a throw away. Nobody will service them. The freon is not fillable and if you choose to fill them the procedure is far more expensive than another. I ordered another lastnight and ordering another today. At 900.00 a piece there must be a solution. Adding a split unit or a Mastercool is a much better option. The Unit has decreased from having 3 fan speeds and looses all high fan speed only having 2 speeds. This is a good unit but if you have clients that rely on keeping them cool and first off safe from the elements I would pass and upgrade to a better model. I hope this helps everyone because we spent a fortune adding these AC and still spending every summer. Make sure to have a solid breaker and a solid 230v line to power the AC because these units eat power!!! There is a very shady service plan with the warranty aswell because no AC company here will look at them. Have a great day and God Bless America!

Well, when it works, it's great. But this is the second time I've bought it and the second time it has broken down within a single year -- just a couple months past warranty. How convenient.

This is my second LG a/c with heat. First one (18,000btu) lasted over six years. Though my shop square footage is below the 23,000btu requirement, I have a lot of in & out traffic so I decided to upgrade to a 23,000btu for a hundred dollars more.

I got the 23,000 BTU 230/208-Volt Window Air Conditioner with Cool, Heat and Remote in White and I have to say this is the coldest A/C I have ever felt. I got it at our local Home Depot store. I use to work in a WW2 building and until now I forgot this was the A/C unit that we used for over ten years in Pear Harbor Hawaii. In unison with 5 other units they kept the whole 3000 + sq. space always cool. We never had to use the heating feature because its always hot in Hawaii yeah lol but I'm sure it will heat just as good as it cools. Its a big guy so it took two of us to sit it in my window. I did not want to cut a hole in the wall and its a temp location there anyway until I move it to a more permanent place. Its quite and cold and it does have an Eco mode that cuts the fan and compressor on and off. It comes on about every 3 minutes to sample the air and cuts off if the temp is right. There is nothing I don't like about it as I have had it now for oh about a month. I was sitting there one day seeing frost blowing out of it. The only time I seen that was sitting on the plane getting ready to take off and on the Apache helicopter I use to work on with the Army. Its so hot out side but this unit I have set on its minimum and it keeps my 1400 sq. home cold. Oh don't try to sit in front of it because it will run you off lol. No joke its COLD!!!!!!. This guy is by far the best A/C I have ever bought in Hawaii and now the mainland.

Kelly who worked in the tool rental department helped us look up the inventory on hand in the computer. He found that for the size window opening we had we could actually get the 23,000 BTU instead of the 17,000 BTU. Also he referred us to Bob in the electrical department that got us the correct plug and box cover that was needed on the new unit. The unit works very well for the location we had in my Sister's house trailer. Cooled the place down very quickly. Even tried the heat to see how that worked. The air vent also swivels from side to side and the remote control is handy. The only thing I noticed that in economical mode (I know that is not the right term), the unit will turn off when the right temp is reached. However it comes on every 2 or 3 minutes to sample the air temp and then shuts down again. I thought something was wrong starting and stopping like that until I read that is what it is suppose to do in that setting..

These units have worked very well for me(I've had 3 of these identical units now). It cools well in the summer, and heats well in the winter. I use it to take care of business in my early 1970's 12 x 60 mobile home. Fans strategically placed to promote circulation allow this unit to cool and heat my entire home and it does a fairly decent job. The automated vent direction thingee goes away after the first year or two, as the plastic gears just give up the ghost. As they wear out, the range of motion slowly decreases the amount of left to right movement so that by the time you notice it, it's out of warranty. The A/C unit lasts 3 to 5 years before the electronics die, and you can plan on it failing. That said, I "NEVER" turn it off. I set the thermostat at the temperature I want and leave it alone for months at a time... So I guess 3 to 5 years of running 24/7 isn't a bad thing. I just buy another one, and I'm on my third new unit, as "repairing a window A/C-Heating Unit" costs way too much, as the electronic "brain" is big bucks... This A/C Unit works for me, and I think it'll work well for you too.

if you want a strong a/c this is the one. my house is 1200 sq.ft. this unit cools the whole place with ease. my central hvac went bad. it was pretty old and also pretty expensive to run. this window unit gets the job done and has lowered my electric bill. I did have to hire an electrician to run a 240 line for me but considering the savings on electric, that was a wise decision. I gave it 4 stars because a couple of the leds have gone out, and the owners manual shows a drain plug on the rear of the unit but none exists. there are two holes at the outside corners which seem to allow the water to drain. also the warning light for the filter comes on, but the filter is clean. the unit comes with the typical expendable panels to fill the space left over on the sides of the unit. I bought a piece of pink 24"X24" insulation and cut it to fit between the window frame and the unit, also a strip across the top and used silicone sealer to seal it tight. I painted the pink insulation to match the window frame and the finished product looks pretty good. on the outside I did the same thing except after I installed the pink insulation I used the silicone sealer and then painted both sides or a 1/4" piece of plywood cut to fit and cover the pink insulation, and more silicone sealer. Was all of this necessary, probably not. Just the basic installation would be fine for most people. Everything you need is included with the A/C for that. Over all the unit exceeds my expectations.
