Portable smoker

we took this electric smoker camping with us. It is wonderful. We have a full-size smoker at home, and this portable smoker works just as good as the full size. we absolutely love the ease and portability of this smoker. (We purchased an ash cup on amazon to help remove the ashes.)

Broke on my first cook.

(My first attempt with this smoker). While smoking a pork butt about 3 hours in, the heat was going down and the smoker was making a loud noise. I turned it off and checked to see if the pellets were clogging the auger. I cleared the pellets away and turned it back on. Upon inspection I noticed that the auger was not turning. I called the customer service number, and the support tech sent me a link so he could see through my phone what was going on. He tried to have me fix it, (which was odd to me) and was not able to get the auger reconnected. He decided to order a new part for me to try again to fix it. (Again, odd to me). I ordered the smoker through BBQ Guys, but the service was through Pit Boss Grills? Not sure how this is going to turn out.

not worth the time and aggravation

Auger stopped turning after using this smoker successfully for 2 months. Called customer service. Currently waiting for another replacement part to "fix" the issue. I was told there are only 5 working parts that can be replaced and this unit is on number 3. First, replaced motor, then control board, now waiting on another new motor and auger assembly. Their customer service diagnostics by phone are poor. 3 different "solutions" from 3 different reps. The written instructions they send have many flaws so prepare to spend hours on the phone with customer service. There are no online videos to refer to. Takes weeks to get replacement parts. I've been without a working smoker for over 2 months now. I asked for a new smoker after replacing the control board and still not working. Nope! They will only give you replacement parts. Assess your own patience and tool using ability prior to purchasing this smoker.

Horrible experience with this product.

This thing was my first pellet grill. I bought it specifically for cooking chickens at competitions. First time I used it it got up to temp, started cooking and then approximately 30 minutes into the cook it dropped temp and the auger quiit working. Shook it around, and the auger started working, finishing the cook. Round 2 I tried to cook and it did the same the same thing. Never could get the auger to engage. Contacted support and basically they want me to install a new auger motor that still has not arrived. Called Danson/PitBoss/Country Smokers and they asked that I uninstall the auger and clear it. I did all that. Turned it on with no pellets and the auger was working. Loaded with pellets and nothing. Spend your money elsewhere, this thing is a piece of junk.

Love my country smoker!

Best portable smoker ever! This is our second because we wore our ford first one out. The customer service from BBQ GUYS is like no other. I will not buy from anywhere else. Top notch, which you must don't find these days! Thank you BBQ GUYS.

This is the 2nd one we’ve purchased! 1st one lasted 6yrs of heavy usage. Didn’t want to mess up a good thing! Have referred to others and now 2 neighbors have same grill.

Love It

Easy to assemble. I can use it my outside coffee table or the counter. My smoking hasn't been great, but I blame myself. I make steaks on it by removing the baffles and heating a pan. Then pan fry it, and finish in the broiler. Works great! Did chicken satay and they turned out very well. I like it burning hot and it does.

Rx'd with water damage and black mold!!!

I ordered from LOWE'S Ambassador Caffery, Lafayette, LA. Supposed to pick it up at the store Wednesday but they finally got it Saturday so I picked it up Saturday. Opened it today, Wednesday. It was re-taped and had obvious damage. It came with water marks inside the package and was full of black mold! Even the "owners manual" inside was water damaged and full of black mold! C'mon LOWES!!! I am still shaking my head at that! Yep - I'm going to return it then go through all the stupid LOWES "processes" again! C'mon LOWES!!!

Was expecting charbroiled taste. Not so.

The unit I received had bent parts at the pellet shute lid hinges but otherwise quality made. Minimal assembly. First attempt at cooking crab stuffed chicken breast went well. Had to haul out shopvac to remove ashes, empty shopvac and then vacuum excess pellets out of auger. Price was right to try pellet grilling method, however there was very little "charbroiled" taste. Just drier smoked taste. Unit needs easier way to remove ashes and excess pellets.

Love it!

This little unit is wonderful. I've used 6 out of the last 10 days, including today. I had some homemade Italian sausage links today. Wanted to try from frozen. Put it on smoke for and hour, then 225 degrees. They were up to 165 in 2 hours total. Used bourbon barrel white oak pellets. Delicious! I find it uses less than a lb of pellets at these settings. It will easily do 9 burgers at a time. Love it.

Fire hazard

I bought this grill because it had great reviews, and it was on sale! I noticed when I put it together the lid didn't sit evenly on the frame, didn't think anything of that until the temperature controller was not working properly. I couldn't get it to connect between where the dial was set to and what it should have been doing. Ex. It was set to 250, bur temperature continued to climb to 440 when I finally unplugged it! I don't believe this is a manufacturer defect, but rather the package was dropped on the corner where the controller is because thats the corner where the lid is not sitting properly on the frame. The controller even goes blank if you push the dial the wrong way.

Perfect for me and Wife needs. Portable so we often take it with us when we go camping. Controls the heat almost exactly to the Temperature you set and easy to keep clean. This was a replacement for the exact same model I had before, that died on me after about 5 years of use. The heater element stopped working. We like it so much and it gave us such good service that I purchased the same model again.

Defective and dangerous

The fan runs intermittently. When it stops, the fire burns back up the auger tube and smoke actually comes out of the pellet hopper. I contacted the company and they agreed that it was defective. 6 months later. Yes you read that right; my new control board arrived. No they didn’t send me a new grill. I was instead made to replace the board myself. After getting this done by hiring a professional electrician, the grill did exactly the same thing. In my opinion this is a very dangerous unit unless they have corrected the intermittent fan issue. It could easily start the hopper full of pellets on fire with potentially disastrous results. Scary.

I would buy this product again.

I own other brand name pellet smokers and propane smokers that are not portable.

Awesome Smoker

I received my smoker yesterday, August 26, 2020. After prime and burn-in, I decided to put it to the test. Well, I already own a very popular large pellet grill and wanted something that would cook a smaller meal and one that would of course use less pellets. Well let me tell ya, it did exactly what I wanted. My first cook was salmon and steak. Wow! They came out excellent. I had a rather large steak and my wife had the salmon. She loved it and that steak was so good, I didn't want to stop eating. But I did. I ate half and saved the other half for today, the 27th. Well, that didn't work. After about three hours I went in and ate the other half. And man was it good. So that meant I had to cook again today, so it was chicken wings. Whew! They came out so good, I wound up eating two servings. So to sum it all up, if you want a smoker that 1. produces a lot of smoke when needed, 2. Easy to use, 3. uses less pellets, and 4. produces great foods, Get This Grill. I like it so much, today I put the cover on the big grill today. Now I have three smokers, two pellet grills, an electric box smoker (no names), and a gas grill. Guess which one will get a lot of use. Tomorrow, let's go for a nice cut of pork, maybe some ribs. Mmmmmmm

No customer support!

If you don't mind zero customer support then buy this grill! Mine catches fire ever third or fourth time i use it. So far, the hopper has caught fire after the fire migrates back up thru the auger. It has ruined the latch, which is plastic, on the hopper lid, smoke stain has made the digital display nearly unreadable. I have written them numerous times and have never received a reply. Extremely poor customer service does not even come close to stating how unconcerned they are about any problems you might have or any parts that you need to replace damaged ones. I wanted one of these pellet grills for a long time and made a big mistake when i decided to purchase this particular one. My advise to anyone is to look elsewhere for other brands!

Impressive little device. Excellent temperature control, smokes just like a big grill at 5x the cost. Clearance inside the grill is about 5” so it won’t allow for tall items like a beer can chicken, but a spatchcock chicken fits fine.

A wonderful addition to our camping equipment list

This small pellet smoker/grill is probably one of the easiest to use and enjoy wherever you go. With a pellet hopper cover that latches in place there's no potential mess from moving it around as you camp or RV. It fires up easily and does a really great job of smoking just like the much larger smokers. If you like a recipe for a large smoker, it'll work on this one, just a smaller portion. A brisket flat OR point will fit nicely on the grate, as will a rack of spare ribs that is cut in half, salmon filets, brats, or any meat. The thing I like best is the fact that I can smoke my choice of meat and then slide a cover from the fire pot and hot sear or grill that meat to a nice crisp outside. Fast to heat, easy to use, simple to clean and take it anywhere. A car battery or an inverter can run this comfortably. We recommend this little smoker to folks whenever they come over to our campsite and comment on the delicious smell. Our neighbors at home aren't smoked out anymore with our stick smoker as often. This is something that you won't regret buying.

Great portable smoker for a great price.

Bought this for the motorhome so that we could smoke meat while on the road. We have a full sized Traeger at the house. Looked at the small Traeger but saw a bunch of bad reviews. This unit was half the cost of most of the other portables being sold. The only negative reviews I saw were from new people to the smoking group. Smoking meat is not so much a science (set once and wait) but an art. You have to take into account all the weather factors and the meat itself (no matter which smoker you use). Have done a pork tenderloin and a brisket. Both took longer than on the Traeger but the results were the same. Great construction and design. Bought a cover on Amazon (SHINESTAR CG306 Grill Cover) for $21.00. Highly recommended.

Great portable lightweight smoker / grill

Also bought it to take in the RV. Fits in a large rubbermaid tub that keeps it contained and provides side handles which it does not have. It does have a solid front handle that I have been using to carry it around. Pellets go in a cat litter tub
