Inferior product

Bought a new one and didn’t work from day one. They also rarely last a full winter and ended up failing on the crappiest day of the year.

Broke after 1 month of use!

Quit after 1 month of use, this was a replacement for the same model that we used for years. short in the new heater kept tripping the breaker... Tested other electrical equipment in the outlet to eliminate a problem with our house service. The spring around the power cord end also started rusting immediately. I guess this company has gone the way of others, building stuff with cheaper materials so it can go to the landfill quicker.

Deicer

Deicer works great until the GFI turns it off. So, it works for a short time and then….nothing.

Our outdoor birds love this heater :)

Well built with a coating over the heating element. We think it'll prevent calcification as we use well water. The cord has wire wrapping which should prevent Squirrels from chewing. So far it's been working great!

Cord needs to be completely squirrel proof. It would last even longer! Great product that has stood up to WI winters. Was happy F&F located and shipped quickly in late winter. Kept my wild birds happy!

Failed after a couple of days.

It worked for for a couple of days in sub-freezing temperatures, then abruptly failed. We checked continuity and found an open circuit between the two ac plug pins. No way to fix it, so we took it back and bought a different brand. The second purchase was the same type we have been using, with repeated purchases, over the years because they all seem to last only a few years. This one looked good, has a nice long wire-covered cord and good electrical characteristics, but all that's irrelevant if it works for only a couple of days.

Junk

The first unit did not work as soon as I got it home and plugged it in. I returned the unit for a replacement. The replacement unit lasted one season. (November - March) and now it's junk. If this type of quality was sold for $5 or less, it would be a valid purchase. Quality is a rare find these days.

The Perfect Bird Bath Heater

This heater fits perfectly in my bird bath. It is heavy enough to stay submerged. It's materials and construction are quality. The cord is protected and of good length. I expect it to last for years of winters. It was delivered in just days!

Best water defroster yet!

I purchased this for my deeper, metal bird bath. The temps here drop down to10 overnight and the water stays defrosted. The ones that i had in the past defrosted only partially. This one does the entire thing. Which works well for the squirrels too!

Bought first unit 3 years ago, buying 2nd one

Bought first unit from another store 3 years ago ( had to order it ) . I am so impressed with it , when our 2nd bird bath required a replacement , started hunting for another unit (as previous store closed up) . Was happy to see that Blain's carries them in stock, (and a few bucks cheaper ! ) Another reason to be Pleased with being a customer of Blain's over the years . Thanks !

Good until warranty expires

This is the third one of these I have purchased. The seem to last about a month longer than the warranty period, then they start popping the GFI.

API 250 Watt de-icer

Purchased to replace one that finally gave out after 10 years. Expect this one will be just as sturdy and last for the same number of years. Worked very well in keeping water from freezing in shallow metal pan used to provide water for birds and small critters during the winter. Pricing was best through Blain's and shipment arrived as expected despite weather and Xmas delivery rush.

Great for a day

It melted the ice in the bird bath once and then quit.

Reliable and good for the birds

We have three of these for our bird baths. they keep water melted no matter how cold. We also recently ordered one for our son in Milwaukee where it gets colder than here. The birds love it.

Cord lock thingies

The directions of the cord lock items were pretty hard to understand, and we couldn't really see the ease of operation we were promised.
