These small pads are excellent for small areas, especially for guitar finishes. You could polish your shoes with a 3 inch pad, but I'd never use 3M pads when it's a product that exceeds the cost of a pair of shoes. It's especially gratifying to finish a compounding job knowing you used the best product on the market, and there's no way it could be made better.

These are great for buffing paint. Just don't get too carried away or let the compound dry because they are aggressive. You must finish with a black pad and a polish if you plan to use these on paint. These save me a lot of time buffing difficult areas.
