[Rewarded Review] Best Kitchen Exhaust Fan I Have Installed/Used

I purchased a Bosch 500 Series Undercabinet Hood (DUH30252UC) kitchen exhaust fan earlier this spring. The unit was backordered at the time but totally worth the wait.

WORKS VERY WELL

I HAVE OWNED THIS HOOD FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS. IT DOES ALL I NEED ON LOW OR MEDIUM. YOU NEED TO START THE HOOD BEFORE YOU BEGIN COOKING. THE CHARCOAL FILTER DO A GREAT JOB.YOU CAN PURCHASE THE CHARCOAL FILTER MATERIAL IN BULK ON AMAZON. YOU DO NEED THE FIRST SET FROM BOSCH TO GET THE PROPER CLIPS. WHEN YOU RECIRCULATE IT THERE IS AN INTERNAL TYPE SWITCH YOU NEED TO SET TO THE PROPER POSITION.YOU NEED TO READ THE INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS. WELL BUILT AND I LOVE THE BASIC KNOBS. IF THE FILTERS WERE CHEAPER I WOULD GIVE 5 STARS. THE CHARCOAL FILTER KIT IS $100.00, THATS WHY I ORDER IN BULK ON AMAZON

We like the look and function of this Undercabinet Hood. The fan has several settings which product a lot of suction.

[Rewarded Review] Great Looking Hood Vent

Nice looking hood vent. I bit of a challenge to install. Need at least 2 people or a 3rd hand jack. Does not include electrial wiring or blubs. Wire cost about 15.00 and blubs the same. For the price of the unit, i think Bosch should have included them. However, other Bosch owners clain the Germans are cheap. I agree. Only time wil tell if the product lives up to its name. My wife is happy, so that's what really counts.

I’m happy with how it functions, which has a lot to do with how it is vented. For some reason the front panel is separating from the rest of the unit! Not great if was heat from the stove that this is venting that causes this to warp! Lol!

[Rewarded Review] When venting outside, still leaks air back inside

I have an open ticket with Bosh to get this fixed but on my unit even though the damper is set to push all air up and outside some is still whistling through the top vent (which is there for people who just want to recirculate). It should seal that off so that no air pulled into the vent is pushed back into the room but the mechinism (just a small plastic switch) is flimsy that controls that.

I purchased this model after a lot of research. My main criteria was a range hood with a low noise level rating. This rangehood is rated on Lowes site as "4.0 sones rating (horizontal) and 3.0 sones rating (vertical) means the sound level is similar to a normal conversation, for quiet yet powerful operation" This is completely false, misleading at best. I have an open kitchen, open to the family room with a TV When the range hood is switched on to the minimu speed, I cannot listen to my TV which is at least 20+ feet away from the range. At the maximum speed, it feels like a a blender is turned on which is no where close to normal human level conversation. I am not sure if the item is defective. The noise level even at the lowest speed is not anywhere close to what it is rated. I am stuck with appliances which I had it installed at a high cost and now I loathe to use. Need some help

After a kitchen repair our kitchen set up created a two foot space above our stove top. We were concerned with smoke and the ability to have enough light to cook. This Bosch hood provided brilliant light and powerful exhaust even at the low settings. It has rejeuvinated our love for cooking tenfold!

This range hood has been installed and operating for a month. I read the reviews plus I have other Bosch appliances. I like the build quality and the simple controls. The fan removes odors and the sound is better than expected. I installed led lights, so there is no heat issue from the lights. I am happy with this purchase.

I never had a house where the hood was not vented outdoors, until now! I was searching for a hood that would work and this did the trick. The only issue I am having is getting the grease filters that were promised in the description at Lowe's. Apparently Bosch is out of them with NO ETA! I need the grease filters that I paid for!

I like my Bosch hood and have no problems with it. However, I feel very strongly that it should have come with 2 lightbulbs that fit in the socket underneath the hood. My particular model doesn’t include lightbulbs with the hood. I had to make a special trip to the store to purchase the lightbulbs that fit in the sockets underneath the hood which was very annoying. Also, why does it have to be halogen lightbulbs? Why can’t it be LED lightbulbs? Halogen lights get so hot and can overheat easily.

Clean and Neat

I love the range hood. It's got ckeannanfnskeeknlines. The blower has 4 speeds and works like a charm. However. The lights are a pain to Install. I've had two go in and click but a week to 10 days later they fall out and shatter all-over the stove. Both times no one was using store or anywhere near the range hood. It's a poor design to say the least.

I appreciate the Bosh hood as a means of clearing out the fumes of cooking. I would love to make some suggestions. Have the controls for both fan and lights with greater selection, even to a variable resistor instead of the three setting on the fan and one on the lamps. Also, make is easily available for the customer to order and replace the charcoal filters themselves. I am most capable of following the directions that came with the package ordered through the dealer. Four clips are not such a large challenge.

The light fixtures in this hood do not come with light bulbs. It seems a bit petty, but when you buy an appliance that has lights built into them (i.e., a hood or oven) you don't expect to have to go buy light bulbs. It seems like an awkward way to cut costs for a company that prides itself on premium products. And having ordered a cooktop, a hood and a double oven from Bosch, it detracts from the experience. Additionally, the fit and finish of this stamped metal appliance is inferior to other Bosch products we own.

Bought this almost a year ago. It functions well but it is so loud even on low. Med and high are ridiculouly loud. I find it such a contrast, although I am quite aware they are completely diff appliances but, my Bosch dishwasher is so quiet we have to almost touch it to ensure it is running! Beautiful....I love it! Would be great if the vent noise was redured by numerious decibals.

[Rewarded Review] Installation is a nightmare

I've installed ceiling fans, light fixtures, and over the range microwaves. I could not hang this hood. We tried to mount directly to the undercabinet with four very small screws. These have to be precisely placed where the keyholes are in the hood. Screwing them in requires you to partly screw in the screws, wedge the hood into place, find out you've mismeasured where the screws go and repeat. Once the hood is in place, you'll have to try to tighten them by sticking a screwdriver though the unit to access. There is no template (why?!). I had to add multiple layers of shims as well because our cabinet is recessed and a flat surface is required.

Everything is as expected except that the instructions were wanting. The removal of the plate for the different extraction vent configurations was not straight forward and nothing in the instructions. Really....! If something had broken in removing this plate it would have been a 1 star review. Bosch you can do better!

Looks good. Works well. Only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because we are using it as a recirculating unit as the one we replaced did not vent out. Did not come with the charcoal filter nor could I find any store who carries the charcoal filter. Then on-line they cost $100 or more, most of them were on back-order and then they recommend replacing every 3-6 months. If I know that up front I would have made different choices.
