Buyer beware. The radius at the corners is too large to be able to fit smart switches. You need to go with raco if you intended to install smart switches

Intuitive installation. Good gauge steel making it a solid product. Precise outlet/switch locations. Depth of mud-ring accurately accommodates sheetrock thickness. Good product.

They're steel, they fit the steel box, and they allow you to screw the steel box to the stud and still have a flush mounting. They give you a little more space for the wiring and a little bit of insulation behind.
