We were so excited to receive our Alaterre Furniture Stockbridge 45 inch Formal Cherry Large Rectangle Wood Coffee Table. It has a shelf below the top which is very handy. After seeing the quality of this "FORMAL" table it was pretty disappointing. The table is very rustic or distressed. The pictures on the Home Depot web page shows a table that is very "FORMAL" and looks beautiful. I contacted the vendor and they agree the word "FORMAL" should be removed and it should say rustic or distressed. Beware of descriptions for this product it is not accurate. It was pretty easy to put it together. Good instructions. With the poor quality and the description that doesn't match the online pictures and description this product online it will get a 1 star review.

A very nice coffee table that would match a lot of living room decor. The wood finish is a distressed finish with visible nicks and related imperfections, giving it a antiqued look or that of a reclaimed wood project. The stain is consistent and the top coat is an oil based finish. I assembled this in the garage and left it out there for a few days to allow the finish odor to go away. With that being said, there were a couple of things that concerned me with it. As a craftsman, i look for solid construction as well as fit and finish in any wood items i obtain like this. Assembly was straight forward but there is a gap between the side panels and where they mount to the underside of the top (in the pictures). This gap will bend when you tighten the 3 screws that hold each side in place as the gap is about 1/8" wide. I used plastic shims to prevent this to relieve the stress. The underside of the bottom shelf was scraped during the manufacturing process as made evident by it being finished over. Not a big deal as it is out of sight but it could be present on other portions of the table that are visible depending on what caused it. Another worth mentioning, the assembly screws go into metal ends in the wood, however, the outside of the joint is a routed hole and there is no metal to prevent the screw from being over tightened and coming through the piece. Be careful when you assemble this especially if you use a cordless drill. Overall, very happy with the table and looks nice in our living room.
