quality is very good, I really like the lack of cords, the drop length is control by strips of velcro, easy to use and no tangles like with the cords. I did purchase additional velcro material so I could set up additional lengths at the top of the blind so when I need to roll them up completely I do not have to disturb the velcro strips that came with the blinds with which I have set up the drop length I want.

Very thin bamboo reeds. After rolling up a few times, reeds are already breaking. Put out on my patio. The velco is very strong but to tie them up and let them down is inconvenient, have to get a ladder every time. My mistake for not realizing this. Does good for blocking sun, but so light weight the wind blows it around. Bought 2 so I'm thinking of putting them inside where i should have done from the beginning. Would I recommend these? Maybe on a window inside your house where you don't roll them up everyday.

Love them! I ordered 3. Once installed, they instantly cooled my patio down, which was a bonus to the added privacy! Only downside is that I opted to use a different set of screws than what was provided. The ones provided didn’t seem secure.

They look great! It is light filtering, but provides a level of privacy that I was looking for on my back patio. I agree it’s a bit of hassle to manually role these up, but I don’t expect to do this unless weather forces it. These were slightly damaged upon arrival, the box they came in was thin and there was no padding. They look great, but don’t be surprised if you need to get a replacement due to damage from shipping.

Decoration only

I bought 2 bamboo blinds. The bamboo sticks are very thin, as in matchsticks. It does not block the sun. I bought 2 of them 1 for the front part of my porch & 1 for the side. I end up using both, 1 in front of the other to double up thinking that will help block the sun. It does some what. The stitching is good, not much of the bamboo has broken. If you want for decoration, perfect. As you can see from pictures, the lattice work flag. Second picture is 2 of them doubled up on each other

Product with deceptive labeling

the cord-free is not an automatic raise and lower shade. It uses a velcro strip to hold the shade in place....not so nice. I will use them in a side room...and one box was in the grass, wet and nearly open. I just found it today ! The two 48 inch wide shades NEVER ARRIVED ! They're not here at the house. I don't have them. Period/full stop

The blind itself is great but by "cordless" I didn't understand you had to manually roll up the blind then Velcro it in place. I wanted this for above my kitchen sink and need a step ladder every time I want to raise or lower it -- not ideal -- because of the counter and cabinets beneath it. If it was in a location that you could stand in front of, it would be a lot easier. The Velcro they include is just a wee bit too short to do the whole 6' roll up but I can make it work. The price was right but I should have read more about it to understand what they meant by cordless -- I would not have purchased this one had I understood that. My bad.

Excellent buy. Fits my needs perfectly.

I needed an accent shade for windows in living room to go behind my drapes. They seem of acceptable quality and price was really good. They are not blackout shades, or this isn’t a blackout shade and sunlight throws through shows through but I have the drapes to close if I want to completely block out the light. This way I have light coming in but you can’t see inside my living room. I’m very pleased with my purchase.

Great, after some DIY love

Have had two 60' shades installed inside a three season south and west facing second floor porch for a year now so figured it was time to share some feedback. They survived their first Chicago summer and winter unscathed! (Extreme temps, direct sun, humidity, maybe a little precipitation, etc). So far, so good this season too. In fact, I just ordered a third 60"W shade for the final pair of interior windows.

[Rewarded Review] Not So Good

We were excited to get this so we could us it as shade on a cabana. It arrived with a very damaged box that also must have gotten wet. We were concerned about the inside, but it was rolled tightly and still intact in the plastic sleeve. Great--but once opened, not so great. The description of this left out a lot. It does NOT roll up, it hangs all the time or you take it down. The ropes that came with it are short ones-you can see on the picture, that you use to bind the bottom to a clip, which, to be honest, wouldn't last a week in the Arizona sun. It does give you natural light, but the reeds are very thin and we're really not sure how long they would withstand the sun and even small winds. Not sure how we will use this now, but we definitely will not purchase another one.

[Rewarded Review] It's a winner

We ordered this for our from three window middle window to block what the blind wasn't blocking. I have to say it's doing a fantastic job. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the little string latches just didn't work. No matter how you use them the string just slides through. No biggie. I simply used the old hay knot we used back on the farm years ago. You can use which ever knot you choose and it'll work. I would definitely recommend these filtering shades for any where you want to shade out heavy light and the neighbors wondering eyes.

[Rewarded Review] Blocks hot sun

I have a window that faces south and in the summer, I get a lot of heat on the windows. This roman shade helps a lot with the sun filtering and blocking to reduce heat build-up in my room.

[Rewarded Review] Natural Lightweight thick grass/reed sun filtering shade

The Backyard X-Scapes Natural Bamboo Reed Light-Filtering Roman Shades is a manual, light weight roll-up window blind. It comes with mounting hardware, cord, and instructions. It filters light but is semi-transparent, so it won't create full shade. The reeds are quite thin and thus some pieces fall out as you handle it. And some of the reeds were bent before unpackaging. But the bent reeds didn't interrupt the flat look of the blind. Just use with close care. Probably not going to last around kids, or do well in a storm. If you use care to unpackage the roll, you can reroll the blind and store it in the plastic sleeve and place inside the box for protection.

[Rewarded Review] Good affordable manual shade

I installed this 48 inch wide x 60 inch long manual bamboo reed shade as a temporary replacement for a damaged fabric awning over the side of our front porch at a seashore condo. So far they appear to be holding up fine after the past few weeks. They were easy to hang up on the included screw hooks and we do take them down before stormy weather and will store them inside for the winter. They roll up easily but adjusting their height with included string and clamps was cumbersome as the spring-loaded clamps are not strong enough so you have to tie the string into a knot. These are a good affordable solution for any interior window or an enclosed or partially enclosed porch. They provide ample shade and allow nice air flow.

[Rewarded Review] Very Simple and Basic

These bamboo light-filtering shades are super easy to hang. You will need a drill with 1/16 inch bit, pliers, tape measurer, and marking pen. Measure the distance between the hooks on the shade and transfer those measurements to where you wish to attach the shade to the window/wall/ceiling, marking with your pencil as you go. Drill the tiny holes where you have marked, and screw in the wall hooks, first with your fingers then finish with pliers. Simply attach the shade hooks to the wall hooks. If you wish to roll up the shade, you are supplied with cord and buttons.. I didn't like the cord as it unraveled easily, so I used crafting twine, which was much easier to use to get it through the buttons. Once the cord is through the button, tie the cord.

[Rewarded Review] Don't care for way they're made!

This bamboo roll- up shade is not at all what I thought it would be. First the natural bamboo is real bamboo that is coated with a clear. Being a natural bamboo, I don't think it will withstand the winds or weather we have here in Arizona! There are no string rollouts on it, so when it says Manual-- it really is! The worst part is they give you small pieces of rope(twine) to attach it to the reeds and little clips, so you have to remove them whenever you raise and lower the shade! To much of an inconvenience when you want them on an area of a pergola that you walk through, as we have. I really would not recommend these shades...

[Rewarded Review] I really love the look

I really love the look of these "Backyard X-Scapes Natural Light-Filtering Bamboo Reed Roman Shades Manual Roll-Up Window Blinds, Natural". They are not heavy, they are exceptionally easy to install and can be used a number of different ways. I have used them both inside and out to achieve a particular look. They are easily mounted on any hook. That being said they are polished bamboo reed, they will break.. They are not sturdy thus the reason for the three stars. However as a cute quick decorating idea I would say go for it.

[Rewarded Review] Budget bamboo blind

With the afternoons and evening being so nice to sit outside. When the sun starts going down, the bright light is almost blinding so my wife wanted to get a roll up blind to filter the light. She saw one online at Home depot and ordered it. This one is by Backyard X-Scapes. It does a good job of filtering. In looking at the construction I have my doubts about it lasting outside. This is a budget bamboo shade. The twine stitching it together is made out of a cotton which won’t last in Southern Utah. Recognizing this is most likely to be used indoors. The cords to hold the shade in a roll have to be tied in a knot even though the shade comes with a line pinch mechanism, which didn’t work. I really can’t recommend this product based on the construction materials. Yes it looks nice.

[Rewarded Review] beautiful

This natural light filtering bamboo reed Roman shades with manual roll up made by Backyard X-Scapes is beautiful shade. The color and bamboo gives our screened in porch a more relaxing feel. This is a very large shade measuring 60”x72”. Super easy installation. I had it installed in less than 20 minutes. Does filter out some light. You can see through it from the inside better than from the outside. The further away from the outside the harder it is to see. My only complaint is the manual roll up. If your going to be rolling these up daily it’s a pain. You have to roll it up then put all 3 loops through the shade and tie them. The loops and locks don’t work very well. I would recommend getting better loops or if using daily get don’t get these. Get some with a roll up assist or automatic roll up. Ours doesn’t get much use, mainly to block the view from our neighbors house so in that type of situation I would recommend.

[Rewarded Review] Could be better

If you want a very simple, low cost, shade to block the sun, this is pretty good for what it does. It does not completely block out the light, sunlight does filter through the bamboo strips, but for outdoor use, that’s very acceptable. However, I was thinking there was a pull string to roll this up, but there isn’t. So, I was a little disappointed. That said, I attached it to my patio awning. It wasn’t too hard, just a little time and effort and patience. Basically, it hangs down, you roll it up manually and use a string and clip to lock it in place. Which, does not work very well. As a matter of practicality, need a third hand to hold the rolled up portion, string the cord through and use the clip to lock the cord. However, the clip does not work well, the internal spring is too weak. When fully down, it does provide the shaded area a cool reprieve from the sun. I have no doubt that the bamboo will last, though it feels a little on the cheap side. When fully hung, the bottom is not level with the ground, still scratching my head as to what’s going on. I will likely have to relocate the shade. I put in the intended location, but it’s in the middle of a (for lack of better wording) high-traffic area, which means it needs to get rolled up. As I said before, would have been better if there was a draw string to roll this up.
