The darker color one I used; Did not need to sand or stain it, and the contemporary look is just what I needed. However, the light Douglas Fir was too rough looking. It would have needed a lot of sanding and staining. It did not show much grain either; I returned it.

The contemporary look is just what I needed. One top corner was a little dented, but the info said to expect natural- wood look with some wood imperfections. I filled it with wood filler. Overall, the wood had good variation in color and grain. I tried the lighter color offered, too. However, it looked too unfinished and rough. It would have required a really deep sanding and staining so I returned it.
