Bookcase is pretty much as described. I like that I can adjust the upper shelves and the bookcase is nice to look at. Unit is not exactly stable because it does wobble side to side. About the only way to keep it steady is to secure it to the wall.

Perfect in my living room

Love these. Bought two of them. Fairly easy to assemble. Choose not to add the backing. Prefer a more light and open look. Quality is good. Modern rustic brown grain style.

Very clear and easy assembly instructions. Styling is attractive and on trend. I recommend it for an occasional use and out of the way piece, tucked behind a chair, for example, for lightweight books and decor. It is not a heavy-duty piece, and I don't believe would be strong enough to hold heavy books or sturdy enough to display precious items. Be aware that the back is simply a piece of cardboard, not even pressboard. In fact, it's so lightweight and tip-able, it absolutely must be anchored to the wall if children are present!

I purchased this bookcase/shelf for my office. The white with gray matches the Key West L-shaped desk beautifully. The size is perfect for storing files, books, catalogs and other office items. The contrasting gray shelves also make it ideal for displaying decorative objects. I love that some of the shelves are adjustable. The bookcase is sturdy and was easy to put together. Yes, I would recommend this five shelf bookcase.

I am very pleased with this bookshelf. I bought this to put in my art studio. Its the perfect size to display my artwork and the baskets full of art supply fit perfectly. Its very well made & I would recommend it to anyone.

Very Sturdy and Upscale Furniture

I LOVE this bookshelf! I bought two of them to go with my desk and file cabinet that all matches. This furniture is so sturdy and well-made. Very, very easy to assemble and they look so upscale.

Bush no more

Received the product damaged. Followed the instructions and contacted Bush for a replacement part. The replacement part received was subpar. It was was the back panel the piece that holds the piece together. The one received originally was a nice panelling type. The warehouse replacement was a cheap paper cardboard board. Target sells nicer furniture. I contacted Bush again for another replacement for the damaged piece, they said the warehouse has changed it to the cheap paper cardboard and no longer has the paneling type. I have requested a refund through Bush web ordering. I have put in a second request for that today, still waiting. With this experience it is best to stay away from Bush products and especially due to the poor/lack of customer service response.

I hate the back panel of it ... flimsy cardboard and the screws that come to attach it break and don't go in the material very easily. Better to just get your own tiny nails with a head wide enough to cover the hood and hold it. Otherwise very easy to assemble and can be done alone. It is more grey than picture looks. But the shade it appears in the picture is what I was going for ... so works for my lighting situation. I wish it was more sturdy/heavy. But looks good and meets the need.

Love it

The box arrived all torn up, but thankfully the bookcase was fine. It was easy to put together with a screwdriver and hammer. There is one permanently attached shelf and three adjustable shelves, adjustable with metal pins. It's really nice and looks great with the desk I have from the same line.

I really like this bookshelf. I bought two to go on each side of my fireplace and they look great! Definitely need the backing though or it's too wobbly. The color looks dark brown, which is exactly what I wanted. And I saved some money by buying from Bush directly.

Pretty but not very functional

This bookshelf is gorgeous but a couple of things that surprised me: First, when looking at the picture I thought the shelves were thick. Turns out there is a "lip" at the end of each shelf that sticks up, which can be great for preventing things from falling off the shelf, but also limits what you can fit on the shelf because nothing can hang off the edge. This also makes it difficult to take anything out, especially larger books or items because they'd have to go over this lip. Second, it leans forward a bit as you start to add weight on it. Mine is on carpet so that could also play a factor in this. It is pretty sturdy though and seems to be able to take on a lot of weight which is good. In general, it's a nice-looking bookshelf and decent quality too, but if you're looking for something that can carry your books I wouldn't choose this. It's just a bit awkward in terms of structure.

Very Poor Quality, Flimsy. The

Very poor quality, flimsy. The paper coating was ripped off in several places. Once put together it wobbles and seems like it will fall over. I can't put anything on it that will fall if it is just bumped. They claim that anything heavy ( and as woman I consider 70 lbs heavy) they will bring into the house. That is not a true fact as it was left downstairs in the storage room. I was considering buying a desk from this company but not now.

Sadly, Not worth it.....

Sadly, I was not satisfied with this product. Pictures looked amazing and for the price of the product, I assumed it would be of great quality. After putting it together, I realized how cheap it really was. The sticker film that covers the wood was already peeling in several places, the cross beams which are already pre-made weren't fully connected, it wobbles and is very flimsy when fully built. The back is cardboard, not full wood like I expected. When I contacted Overstock to return the item, they said I would have to cover the prepaid label for $*** for a poor quality $*** that I already spent!!! Totally unacceptable and poor customer service. Highly suggest NOT to buy this product or waste your time seeing for yourself.

I've had this bookcase for about a year. It was a little difficult putting it together because some of the parts were mislabeled. It's not cheaply made--which is a good thing!--so it took me a bit longer than it should have to put it together (due to weight). But I did it by myself and I'm petite. I took a long time in deciding to buy this particular bookcase. It had to be open on the sides, a certain height, color, and sturdy. Mine is full of books and is going strong! I plan to buy another one in the near future. Very happy with the purchase!

Disappointing

This is not the item in the picture. Instead of the "reclaimed pine" color that's shown I was sent a white bookcase with grey shelves. The second disappointment is the quality. For the price of the bookcase the paint was uneven and chipped, pieces of laminate were chipped and once fully assembled it is a little shaky. Unfortunately I can't even cancel the rest of my furniture order that isn't scheduled to be delivered for 3 weeks. I will have to wait for it to be delivered and then return at the store.

Bought it because it matches my TV stand

I bought this bookcase because I wanted it to match The Gray Barn Tall TV Stand I already own. First off after putting it all together, it was a lot smaller than what I was expecting. I guess that's more of my own fault for not double-checking the measurements. It was fairly simple to put together. Before putting the middle shelves and backing on it did feel rather shaky and not very sturdy. But one it was all put together it was definitely more solid. I was disappointed in the way the backing was prepared. The backing is a tri-fold thin board, that is connected basically by tape. As you can see in the pictures that the left joint is not precise as the right joint. Thus leaving a gap at least halfway through the shelf. This is something that should've been caught during QAQC before packaging. I'll have to try and hide it items on the shelf. The wife says its all she sees when she looks at it.

Not worth the price!

I usually try to stick with solid wood products but took a chance on this one. I shouldn't have, It is not worth the price. The wood grain paper is peeling from several areas, it has gaps, and it is wobbly and not sturdy on carpet. I thought I could live with the gaps and peeling as long as it was sturdy enough, but nope. Too late to return. I had already gotten rid of the box and put the entire thing together. Too lazy to go through the hassle of returning it, I waited over 2 months just to get it in the first place, and had to have a replacement order because they didn't know what happened to the first. I will try to reinforce it using other screws and securing it to the wall. Looks nice from a distance. Maybe I just got a defective product? Needless to say I won't be buying furniture like this from Overstock, I am disappointed. I will stick to ordering area rugs, maybe.

Not at all as pictured....

I ordered the lateral filing cabinet, desk, and matching bookshelf. In the pictures, they look great and as though they really have a grain pattern. But when they arrived, they are just a slick, flat surface and you hardly see a grain pattern. It is almost a "shiny white." Two pieces of the desk were cracked, including the top. When I called Cymax, I had trouble actually reaching a representative. When I finally reached a live person, they had me call Bush directly. Both companies were unapologetic and since the Cymax representative automatically asked me if this was a Bush product, it seems to me that those pieces must often arrive damaged. Took another four days to get the correct pieces. I realized that these were pieces I'd have to put together and not real wood furniture, but I paid nearly $700 for the set and for that price, I expected much better quality and much better customer service. I would not recommend this product.

Most Definitely Worth The Price, And More!

I bought the Bush Furniture Key West 5 Shelf Bookcase a few months ago, and it was the best bookcase that I have found that I wanted and came as I expected it would look like, it had everything that I was looking for. It met every expectation from; the color, to had a back to the bookcase, and even the side of the bookcase has an open design, to even the width/length of the bookcase. The color is a shade of cherry wood, and it matches almost exactly to my desk and my floor which was something that I was looking for. The best thing about this bookcase is that three of the selves are actually adjustable. It has five slots so you can change the shelves at any height that is best for what you want to put in the bookcase. The side designs give the bookcase that something special that makes it different from other bookcases, and on top of that the side designs are not that big, and nothing has fallen through those gaps. While this bookcase is smaller than the average sized width/length of a bookcase, it actually fit everything I wanted to fit and then some, I was shocked and still am on how much it has held. This bookcase is not the fake cardboard pressed wood, it actually has some weight to it when it is put together. It is not that heavy, so one person can easily move it around by carrying it to whichever room, or position you would want it.
