Nice weight but...

...the finish on each of the pieces is marred where one part touches another part. The packaging was good so it seems to be an issue of a weakly bonded coating. (Underneath the black you can see dull silver.) We are keeping it and using it because it’s for an attic access door that is high up so the marred finish shouldn’t be too visible once installed. Also it’s for a very rustic room — we even used reclaimed (scratched, dented, etc.) hardwood flooring — so we are willing to live with this hardware for convenience’s sake. But if we weren’t so decision fatigued at this point, or if we needed this for a more new-looking room, or for an eye level placement, we’d be returning it. It would be a nice hardware set if they could improve the finish to not be so easily abraded, as the overall size, the look, and the weight are very nice.

Not as it appears in the pics

The pictures are misleading. It appears to be a hand forged hand hammered black iron. In reality it has no hammering marks at all. It is not black iron but rather coated with a textured paint. It was a disappointment.

Instructions would have been a brilliant thing to include with the packaging or provide a link to or something. In the end though, they still look pretty cool once they're in place. The doors on the other hand look like the victims of a drive-by shooting from all of the holes I drilled trying to figure out how it goes.

Attractive but not durable

I purchased this latch for a custom shed and it looks very attractive on the naturally stained wood door. However, it is rusting along the edges after being up for only a month. Very unsatisfactory product.
