I purchased this umbrella to replace an identical one from Houzz. We had the other one for about 3 years and it blew over in the open position and the force of the fall damaged the tilt area of the pole. It rendered the umbrella unable to be used properly. We liked it so much much that we purchased again form Houzz.
Nice Umbrella
This was a replacement umbrella for the one that was already on the patio of the house I recently purchased. This is solid and sturdy and east to use. I like the tilt function to adjust with the sun. The material is sturdy and machine washable.
It's a beautiful umbrella and easy to set up. The sectional nature of the pole allows me to remove the top section that contains the actual umbrella and secure it in my garage during a storm while leaving the bottom section in the umbrella stand. I can then quickly reattached the top section and raise the umbrella again!

Have had this for almost a year now, up and outdoors in blistering South Florida sun and rain. Fabric just as vivd as the day it was unpacked and the pole is still solid. It may cost 2X what the "standard" version is, but by this time the fabric would be faded and the tilt mechanism would have likely failed, required DIY reinforcemnet. I'll opine that one gets what one pays for, or has someone already said that?
This is a fairly high quality piece at a very reasonable price… We bought something similar, made by the same manufacturer a few years back and it’s lasted well although this pole is slightly less sturdy than the original.
Beautiful and bright
This umbrella is beautiful in color just as shown in the picture. The fabric is heavy and blocks all the sun light out. It's new to us so I can't comment on the wear yet. But a friend recommend California and her umbrellas look amazing even 5 years later. Very happy with our purchase so far.

The California 9ft umbrella is a beautiful color. The Sunbrella fabric is thick, seems durable and does effectively keep the Sun and rain from filtering through.

We love the material and color of the umbrella but it is horribly difficult to open the umbrella using the crank. We thought maybe the umbrella was defective so we exchanged it for another identical one and it has the same issue with the crank - the farther the umbrella goes up the pole the harder it is to turn the crank. The last 12 inches is quite a struggle. Considering the price we paid, this isn't really acceptable. We may return it.
This is the 2nd of these that I've bought from Houzz. Sunbrella makes the best products available, and the Houzz price was unbeatable! Although I take it down in severe weather, It is exposed to S. FL sun year-round. After 5 years the colors stayed true. (I use an anti-mildew spray occasionally, is does not harm the fabric). The fabric does become a bit fragile after 5 years of constant use, and the seams were beginning to tear. I felt lucky to find my "Saville Seaside" pattern at such a bargain price!
Never purchase
This is my second of this exact California Umbrella. Both times last 9 months total (we take down after summer)

We got these 2 weeks ago. It's easy to attach the bottom pole to the top. It attaches with just one metal button to hold them together, though the bottom pole has holes for 4 metal buttons. It works as advertised, though I don't know how long the mechanism will last - hopefully a few seasons. When I had the 3 umbrellas closed and tied shut, none fell over in strong winds on different days, with gusts of 30-35 mph, and my ancient umbrella stands are feeble, weighing from 15-25 lbs each.
Works and looks nice from a distance
This umbrella is well-made. I wanted a pulley instead of crank, because I didn't want more plastic parts than these umbrellas already have. Unfortunately, I couldn't find one this size and color with a pulley. The crank is okay though. The acrylic umbrella does its job making shade in the hot sun, but it doesn't block 100% of UV rays. After about 4 hours, I had a slight tan on my arms, which were resting on our bistro table while using a laptop. At least it kept me from burning.,
