Great Filter
Never worry about running out of paper filters again! Both the fine and extra fine disk work great and make for a delicious cup. Cup clarity is still pretty good too, I was worried it would lead to silty cup but this is not the case. The filter blocks out all the little partials from getting through just like a paper filter
Love it.
Personally I love it. I think it allows a little bit more of the coffee oils into the coffee so it more reminds me of a French press style but a little cleaner. I also like that I won’t need to keep buying filters even though that’s a tiny expense.
Able Fine Reusable Stainless Filter Disk for AeroPress / Bruer
Look, it’s great and works as described. But now have an extra thing to clean. Will use it at home but stick to paper filters when travelling.
Great little addition to the setup
Been loving using this in my Aeropress Go. It prevents filter waste and is actually pretty damn easy to clean. A quick rinse and wipe does fine. I keep it in the filter cap and the unit still packs away as intended, with the paper filter holder too (even though it is obsolete now). The disk comes with recommended brewing instructions. My partner finds that there's a lot of body in the coffees that I've made with this disk (which they aren't a massive fan of) but I love it.
Better than Paper
Ran out of paper filters and have been meaning to try out a reusable filter disc. Perfect cup, hardly any fines when used with the correct grind size, and durable too. Can brew normally or inverted - there is almost no dripping like with paper filters brewing conventionally. Less waste is a bonus!
Never run out of filters
These are very precise and will last forever. If you grind properly, you won't get any sediment. The cup you get will be a little different than with paper filters, but that's all part of the fun in tweaking new recipes. If you love aeropress, you should have these on hand. They coffee grinds will stick to the filter though, which means you have to wipe it off each time. When I make aeropress out and about, I typically still use paper filters because I can pop them off with the grinds straight into the compost.
Better than paper
The first question that should come up with a product of this nature “Does it make good coffee?” The answer in this case is an unequivocal “Yes!”. There is none of the fiddling required to perfectly position the paper filters, it will hold vacuum for a steep of several minutes and no appreciable amount of sediment gets through. We had a wire mesh filter before this and it was pretty good. This one is better. I would recommend to any aeropress user - ditch your paper filters and get one of these!
Works as described
I have owned the Abel “Fine” disc for many years and it has performed brilliantly. I recently decided to get the “standard” disk, just to be able to compare.Who knows, it might have made a better coffee? My conclusion is that the differences are subtle - TBH I couldn’t really tell. Either way, you can’t go wrong, both are great filters, reusable forever and take up less space than a packet of paper filters. Plus you don’t ever run out of filters. All round a better option than the disposable paper filters? I think so.
A tasty alternative to paper filters
I've been really impressed with this filter. It produced a very different cup of coffee compared to paper filters. More body, bigger flavour, the only trade off is all the fines that make it into the bottom of the cup. For me closer to a French Press in that regard but a fair trade-off compared to the cleaner but lighter cups I get with a paper filter.
Quite happy with the Able
Quite happy with the Able brewing disk for my AeroPress. It is a great consideration if you want to travel and dont want to run the risk of running out of paper filters. Whether a metal filter is actually more sustainable than paper filters is questionable (most people forget to factor in the energy and materials that would be required to make a metal filter vs a paper filter). I was concerned to whether I could use this filter for brewing in the inverted method, but that hasn't been a problem. I also haven't noticed any sort of sediment at all when using the disk filter with a medium grind size. You also need to apply more pressure to the plunger when compared to paper filters, but nothing too dramatic. Filter was easy to clean. overall quite happy.
Great addition to AeroPress
I've been using this disk for about 5 years and it is still as good today as the day I got it. Stands up to daily use and means the only consumables are coffee beans and water. Good option for travelling as no paper filters to manage. Compared to using the paper filters it gives a bit more body to the cup and allows oils and small amount of sediment can come through. It also offers more resistance compared to the paper filters which means a firmer press is required. Highly recommended.
Next Level Aeropress
Why didn't I buy one of these sooner? I was merrily enjoying my Aeropress coffee for a couple of years, using the paper filters that came in the box (and then buying a new pack of paper filters when they ran out). Not wanting to buy yet another pack of paper filters, I thought I'd try this reusable stainless steel filter instead. Well, that first cup of coffee using the Able Brewing Disk really woke me up! The mouthfeel was silky and rich compared to a cup made using a paper filter, thanks to the Able's ability to let the coffee's natural oils slip through into the cup - while effortlessly withholding grounds (I was worried about that, but there was no need; no sludge at the bottom of my cup). Very happy with my purchase, I recommend this to anyone who purchases an Aeropress: grab one of these too, to upgrade your experience.
Great filter
I bought the standard size for use with my Aeropress. It's a well-made and packaged product and Able Brewing who make it sound like a good company. The brewing instructions emphasise pushing the plunger down slowly and I found that the speed influences the level of grounds passing through the filter, with a very small amount coming through with a slow, steady plunge pressure. This isn't an issue and if anything has enhanced the flavour of the coffee.
Beats Paper Filters!
I liked to reuse my paper filters. Seemed to make the coffee taste better. The ABLE FINE metal filter is MUCH easier to clean than reusing paper filters and same good taste. Just a twist and hardly any coffee sticks to it making it easy to clean and handle as compared to the paper filters. The holes seem to be the perfect size with similar pressure required as paper filters. You don't need the larger holes for coarse grinds. The holes are not plugging up as some reviews have reported. Just love these for my Aeropress.
Better taste, a bit more hassle to clean
The taste of the coffee is greatly improved with this filter versus the paper ones. It's a bit harder to push the plunger, but still doable. While traveling recently, I used the paper coffee cups that were in my hotel room and was worried about the amount of pressure I had to use to push the plunger down, but it wasn't bad. So...it's harder to push, but not so hard as to crumble a paper coffee cup. I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 simply because it's a bit more hassle to clean this (as opposed to throwing out the paper filters). You have to be sure to rinse it really well to get the grounds out of the tiny holes. I use a slighter coarser grind now (somewhere around medium fine) and may go even a bit coarser to avoid sediment at the bottom of my cup which tends to be more than with the paper filters for obvious reasons (holes).

This is a really nice filter. I bought it to replace an S filter that I thought I'd lost. Of course, I found it after this one arrived. The good news is that they both work really well, and I cannot taste a difference in my coffee using either one. Both will let more oils into your cup than the paper filters will, which is a flavor I prefer. However, it looks like I'm getting a bit more crema with the Able Brewing Disk. The S filter has larger pores because you can see through it easier. And I've noticed that I have to rinse the Able Brewing Disk under forceful water to be sure to get all the small particles out of its pores. The disk is a better fit than the S filter. But both seem fragile enough that I will have to be very careful not to damage them. The Able Brewing Disk is a very good alternative to the paper filters.

An excellent product, that allows subtle improvements in flavor such as a cup richer in thick, oily textures. It's worth noting that these filters allow a moderate amount of silt into the brew (which some find desirable). I also didn't realize that this is a two-pack, which only came in handy when I bought an additional Aeropress for the office. If you aren't a fan of having trace amounts of sediment in your cup I'd recommend the extra-fine version. So why not five stars? With a little research you'll discover that coffee brewing methods that rely on a metallic filter rather than a paper approach will yield a cup with significantly higher levels of Cafestol and Kahweol. Without preaching, these compounds are potent stimulators of cholesterol synthesis (though believed to be liver-protective) and this may be a consideration for people on cholesterol-lowering medications. I would recommend doing a little research into these compounds before picking up a metallic filter
I didn't know what I was missing!
I love my aeropress, but don't love having to use paper filters which remove those precious coffee aromatics that give well-brewed coffee its zing. So I'm glad that I stumbled upon these filters. I bought the fine filter because I grind my coffee just short of an espresso grind, and it works flawlessly (I'm careful to place the filter with the printed side up; otherwise it would be very difficult to press). The fine filter makes it a little easier to press without letting any grit through, and now the flavor of the locally-roasted exotic coffees I buy really pops. Out of habit I did manage to eject the filter into the trash the first few times I used it but since then have no problems retaining it to wash in the sink. Once washed it goes under the Aeropress's filter holder so it doesn't get dented by other dishes, but even if it did get bent, the filter holder would hold it flat once it was in the Aeropress, so I'm not too worried. Buy this if you haven't tried non-paper filters in your Aeropress. You won't regret it!
Read the instruction card to find out how to brew inverted style.
I love that I waited a few years to buy a permanent filter. When they first came out other companies used a micro wires to make a filter mesh. But those meshes were hard to clean and often clogged up and left one prone to listeria contamination. Able stepped up to the plate and showed the entire industry how to make a permanent filter for the Aerobie Areopress. They use a very thin disk of metal with micro perforations. Easy to clean and store Fits nicely with the new style of the Aerobie Areopress The fine style filter that I bought does not any residue in my coffee cup, but that may change a bit if I change my mill to espresso grind. This filter is slim and small, so onr might be prone to misplacing it. 8/03/2015 I just made my first cup of iced coffee with this filter, and it has to be the best tasting iced coffee I have had. Of course some people might say I am cheating by using Blackbeard's Revenge from Fresh Roasted Coffee llc.
As Good as Paper Filters
I'm what you might call a light coffee drinker. For only one cup a day, the AeroPress is perfect for my needs. But I quickly realized that even with using only one a day, I could run through a pack of paper filters fairly often. Those aren't expensive, certainly, but it is still a small hassle to order them, and the cost would add up.
