Disappointed

Purchased kit to replace a 50" gate. Has no problem getting the hinges and frame installed.

Great gate hardware. I purchased 3 total. I for a 8 ft double gate and another wide gate. Easy to assemble with great instructions. Seem very solid and built to last. Had a question and called company. They were helping and responsive

Excellent quality and value

I am a lousy carpenter who just had to rebuild 70 feet of fencing with a gate. This kit was extremely easy to put together and is square right out of the box. The kit seems solid and is very sturdy. We may add a gate to a different section in the future and if we do we will buy another one of these kits

Excellent Kit

Vast improvement over the DIY 2x4 gate frames. Nothing was missing and was packaged quite well. The best thing about it is the latch is several orders of magnitude quieter than my previous latch. I can now use it at all hours of the day and not risk disturbing any of my neighbors. It's not too difficult to install it by yourself, but I would suggest having someone help to reduce time spent in the heat of summer.

Looks great and strong

First thing first - minimum gate width is NOT 36 inches. It is about 41" (with all hinges and latches).

[Rewarded Review] Adjustagate!!

I recently purchased 2 of these to make a 9' gate (4' man gate and a 5' equipment gate) entering a 15' public walking trail. It turnd out amazing. You will need to purchase separately at least 1 adjustable throw cane bolt to hold the gate firm in the ground. I used 2, 1 per gate. The Adjustagate is full adjustable and very sturdy. Fast and easy to assemble. A price that doesn't break your wallet. A friend would come in handy.

The kit needs to include 2 latches

The included latch only works if your hinges are on the left side and the gate swings inward. It can work (with all the hardware on the outside of the gate) if the hinges are on the right and the gate swings outward. It absolutely will not work for the other two configuration possibilities. They need to include a mirror latch that will work with the other two configurations. Im going to return the kit.

This gate frame worked perfectly! Completely sizable in width, sturdy, balances easy. I put mine up myself and needed no assistance what-so-ever. I'd buy this gate frame again and believe me it's worth ever penny you spend. I've had mine about a month and so far no problems at all, nor do I anticipate any. I'd highly recommend this gate frame to a friend!

Wayfair has an incorrect description for this item on their website. The gate is described as being able "to fit openings of up to 8’ Wide." However, the product packaging says the gate will fit an opening from 36" to 60". Also, to return the item (purchased due to their incorrect product description), I have to pay return shipping. The gate might be great, but Wayfair is a scam!

Really Good Product Buttttt

First timers will NOT get done in an hour. Utube videos are out dated; Man’s instructions should be followed. Dont start by drilling a 1/2” hole in the post. You can’t install the gate so it can be easily remove (stolen). The hinge has been changed since Utube videos. Enlarge the holes in the frame to 5/32 to install the striker bar so self-tapping screws will work. Can’t install all six screws for latch install, 4 should work. Good product but instruction could be better.

Easy but be Aware

The installation of this gate is easy but be aware that the exterior of the gate will not be inline with the fence. As you see a gate with 2x4's on their side will not line up with 2x4's on the gate that are flat, leaving a gap between the face of the gate and the fence when viewed from the street. I see in none of the photos they show the outside view. I flipped my hinges to the outside of the fence to combat this only to confront issues with the gate opening all the way.

I Love This Kit

I had to help my daughter replace her wooden gate, which was massively heavy and after a few years was leaning at about a 60 degree angle. Very pleased with this. The hinge post design is so much more scientific than the long horizontal hinges; it opens and closes at a touch. The finished gate is not lightweight but balances beautifully. The strength of the hinges is considerable. (I did replace some of the screws provided with bolts in the 4x4 fence posts.) All the hardware is provided is good quality. The extender bars were easy to cut to size with a hacksaw. Very clear directions.

Nicely packaged with clear labels for different parts. Sturdy screws (seemed hardened) that resist damage while being driven in. I didn't use provided self-tapping screws for attaching the latch to the metal frame. Instead, I drilled and tapped for stainless steel machine screws. Brackets for three horizontal rails (I only used top and bottom). A spring-return gate latch is good. Compared with the AG72 (consumer grade) I have installed before, this is a better quality kit, worth the extra cost. Very good kit overall.

The installation for Adjust-a-gate Steel Frane Gate Building Kit were straightforward and easy to follow. The medal frame is sturdy and strong. The gate doesn’t sag and you can use new boards or old boards with this kit. No more fighting with saggy fences and having to worry about replacing.

I couldn't be more pleased. The kit's construction is robust, and the steel frame provides exceptional durability. The gate opens smoothly, reaching a height of 7 inches, meeting my specific needs perfectly. Installation was a breeze, thanks to the clear instructions provided. This kit exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it for anyone in need of a reliable and adjustable gate solution. Five stars well-deserved!

High Quality

I purchased two of these to make a double gate for our fence project. Easy to install and they make the gate look great. I bought the cane bolts separately and they work well as handles. I recomend giving a little extra space between gates; once you add pickets and the fence is weighted, they will sag slightly and knock together if there is not enough space.

Not a thought through design

While the kit did what it said it would do, this is not the solution for someone particular about how the hinge and latch work. Hinge pin axis is in the middle of the gate thickness. This matters when trying to cover the gap of the fencing boards near the hinge post- you will not be able to. Gate will also not be able to open much beyond 90 degrees. Latch is poorly thought out- could not slip a padlock through the designated hole without interfering with the frame. I would ignore latch in kit and find your own solution.

WOW! This is fantastic. The metal is really heavy duty and strong. My contractor said he loves it and is going to start using it for all his deck gate builds. He's really impressed. the lock and spring are sturdy and well-building and so much better than the other mechanisms I've used to open and close my previous gates. This thing is amazing. I'm so happy.

Very Happy With My 4 New Gates!

I purchased four (4) of these gate kits and was very happy with the result in all cases. Two were used to construct a 10' wide drive-thru gate, and the other two made 4' wide man-gates elsewhere in the fence. All are arrow straight, solid enough for a grown man to hop on and ride the gate through its sweep, and completely safe and secure. SO MUCH better than the standard 2x4 framed gate and flexible enough to size it perfectly to your rough opening.

Get the most out of this product!

I have a lot of experience as a handyman and a lot of time to tinker and putter so I thought this gate kit, despite its flaws, was good value for money. If are not an experienced DIY'er or if you think you are going to slap this project together in an hour I believe you will become frustrated and disappointed. That said, here's what I learned. I hope it helps. (1) Drill pilot holes for all the fasteners, those that go into wood and especially the "self-tapping" screws that hold the striker bar to the metal frame. As other reviewers have noted the hardware is not top rate but it is serviceable with a little finessing. Using clamps to hold things together as you mark for or drill pilot holes makes this easy. (2) However wide you make your gate, center the spreader bars between the hinge side and latch side gate frames. This ensures you will be able to get a screw though the gate frames into each end of the top and bottom 2x4s. (3) The heads of the screws holding the 2x4 cross members and the heads of the carriage bolts holding the hinges interfere with the two end gate boards lying flush against the gate frame. (This is the only real design failure in this product, lamentable because it could SO EASILY BE AMENDED! Don't blame this on Chinese manuracturing either, this is a homegrown design incompetence.) I recessed the backs of the boards slightly where the screw/bolt heads interfered to allow the boards to sit flat. Have fun!
