Not great for thicker desks. Bubbling laminate
I reviewed this drawer not long after receiving it in Jan 2024 but am updating after having it for around 4 months.
Disappointing For Desks Near 2.5"
I searched for a long time for a keyboards tray with clamps for a 2 !/4 inch thick desk so I was happy to find this one. However, once I had it put together I realized actually using it with a desk that thick was a disappointing outcome. Due to the overall design of the hardware, using it with a desk anywhere near 2.5" leaves so little room between the bottom of the desk and the top of the tray that I was lucky to fit my keyboard and mouse at all. Sliding the tray in and out, my mouse fits by a hair, and my keyboard only fits with the angle legs folded in, which is frustrating.
I find it annoying that the sides don't lock in at the same places
I like how easily it clips onto my desk, but the guide rails are incredibly annoying because they don't lock into the same place and it wants to slide when I am typing on it. I can get it to stick, but it's a fight every time.
Great tray for our glass desk!
This works well on our glass desk which is 27.75" high from the ground. The tray doesn't hang too low from the desk, like others we've tried. The grip is secure even with a metal frame around the glass. The pull out of the tray is not as smooth as you might want but it works fine. The width of the tray is very generous as it fits both the keyboard and mouse pad.
I bought the 7137 before this one and it took me two hours to put it together. When I got to putting the keyboard tray onto the rollers, the screw holes didn't like up and I had to send it back. I ordered this one and it took me 5 minutes to put in four screws and I was done! Very sturdy tray and just the right height. Keyboard and mouse fit comfortably. Only reason I didn't give it a five is because the rollers are plastic and don't move as smoothly as the metal ones. But it's perfect for what I need.
Bought it last week, as there was not enough room on my desk with my new big curved screen. I had to write a report, and used this keyboard tray almost nonstop during 4 days. So great. I could put books, calculator, pen, papers etc.. in front of me while i was typing the whole time. It's very sturdy. Only thing is that it doesn't lock when it's fully out, so i sometimes i had to pull it a little. But otherwise everything else is great about this keyboard tray. I'm very happy.
This keyboard tray is exactly what I needed to avoid drilling holes in my desk. The 3-step instructions are on the box. It took me about 15 minutes to mount it on my desk (had to find the right screwdriver). The tray height is perfect if you are concerned about ergonomics. It is sturdy, durable and holds a standard keyboard and mouse with plenty of room to spare. Nice that shipping was free and fast delivery.
Solid product
Very pleased with the way it frees up room on my desk. The build quality was very good and it feels very solid and stable. I use a vertical ergonomic mouse, and there isn't enough clearance under the desk for the mouse and a thick mouse pad, but I find that the mouse works fine on the keyboard table itself.
This is a substantial, heavy weight tray. I replaced an older, lighter weight, tray that had come apart (after several years of steady use. I looked through all of the keyboard sliding trays here, and this was the only one that said it would clamp to desk up to 2 1/2 inches thick. Most say they go to 1 1/2 inches, which is too small for my thick desk. And I did not want another tray that required drilling to mount it.
Works like a charm. Got a desk for a really good price but it didn’t have a keyboard slide. The desk has a glass top with a metal frame and I was able to mount this to the frame beneath the glass. Slides nice doesn’t wobble and is big enough to fit a regular keyboard and mouse pad. Love it. Opens up a lot of desk space.
Was a bit thrown off when I saw some of the reviews posting broken or hard-to-assemble items. Had no problems with this. Arrived relatively quickly in great shape. No issue with assembly aside from some slightly cryptic install instructions. I will note that this looks eerily similar to the Vivo mounted keyboard solution that this item is oddly compared against, aside from a couple of branding marks. Do with that information what you will.
Only small caveat - that on a 50mm desk, it pretty much takes up all the space below, so leaves very little space for a tall mouse. My mouse has barely 1mm clearance. And for my keyboard, I have to fold my keyboard tilt legs down to slide the tray under the desk. For any thinner desks, it'll be no issue at all.
Quality - I was pleasantly surprised at how awesome this feels. The bearing are super-smooth and easy to pull the tray out. Not like some of the trays that you just slide rail on rail. This actually has bearings for the rails. Very quiet and sturdy, I can easily rest my elbows and some light weight on it without any squeaks or tilting.
Just over 90 days of use and it broke. I'm waiting on a response from the manufacturer. I'll update this review after their response. The screws broke the wooden platform. That shouldn't happen. I haven't adjusted the tray since the install. This shouldn't have happened. **Update. The seller was VERY responsive. Within 24hrs I had confirmation a replacement was shipped.
After researching under counter keyboards I selected Mount-It for it's sturdiness and good reviews. One drawback is that there is no "catch" for the tray to stay in a locked position, so it slides back in when working on the keyboard. However, I found a work-around for this! I use a very large binder clip and attach it to the sliding track and lock the tray in place! Also, be sure and measure your space dimensions, as you will need about 15-16" for the tray to slide completely under the counter/desk.
This is working out great for my home office. My desk was too tall, so this puts the keyboard at the perfect height. It does not lock into place, but it is difficult to slide and this keeps it in place during use. It is very wide, so it fits my expanded apple keyboard and leaves plenty of room for the mouse. I'm a graphic designer, so having a lot space to mouse around is very important!! It also accommodates thick desktops. Mine is 2.25 inches thick and the clamps fit. Assembly took about 15 minutes.
Nice addition to my desk table. Went together easily with instructions. Very sturdy and slides in and out easily. Plenty of room for a keyboard, mouse, and iPhone. Mouse needs to be on the desktop to roll the tray away. That’s my only complaint, but no biggie. Standing desktop converter covers the clamps. Matches my whole desk setup nicely and makes the most of my workstation.
Product arrived beautifully packaged (as nice as Apple products). Assembly instructions adequate. The only minus is the pullout tray operation is a little stiff. Otherwise, very sturdy. The width is perfect for small keyboard + plenty of space to use vertical mouse. Clean, modern design; can easily mounted to a different surface. Very impressed!
Rock solid. The clamps are strong solid metal. Assembly took about 20 min but pretty straight forward. All pieces come in plastic sleeve, separated and easy to identify. Measure your desk, the most that you will get in between the clamps is about 2 and 1/4 inches. My desk just made it. I like the guides in the back to prevent the keyboard from sliding backwards and also give the cords to the USB connections. I have a very thin keypad and mouse, so it fits, but again my desk thickness was at the max.
Love this! Really needed to get ergonomic while working from home. I DON'T skimp here because I spend 40+ hours at this desk! Definitely had to put together. Wasn't hard. Took 30ish minutes. Once assembled, took 2 min to add to desk. My desk thickness is exactly 2 inches thick. SO... it slides back nicely with my ergo keyboard. Does not slide shut with mouse, but I expected that. It does want to roll back sometimes while working for longer periods of time. So... I bought a baby lock and set it up right on the mount. Locks and clips on and off with ease! Holds in place while using! The reason I love this, it fit on my desk, it was larger and fit both my mouse and keyboard without being cramped. Very sturdy as well!
