Very easy to pull up and down, and it actually stays in place. Ordered 2, and both had minor imperfections, hence the 4 stars. Would definitely rebuy if needed.

I bought this to put my laptop on at my work bench. It works exactly as I had hoped. It is heavy enough to keep the laptop stable.

Ordered three of the stands. Really enhances the office, allows me to look directly at the monitor instead of looking down and makes the office look much more professional. One of the stands had a defect. I contacted the company that shipped me one out a new one within one day free of charge.
Lowest height will not stay in place
This appears to be a well-made item. I need it at the lowest adjustable height, about 4.5 inches. No matter how much I tighten the adjustment screw, the platform creeps back up to about 5.25 inches. I only figured out the problem when I started to get neck pain at the computer screen. If you need a riser that lifts your screen more than 5 inches, this will work for you.

Heavier and sturdier than I expected. I ordered two - not for a monitor, but as speaker stands on my small desk. Happy to report they do the job admirably. My daily use headphones are from Monoprice also, very pleased with their products. As another reviewer noted, you should align the top and bottom on a table before putting screws in. Easy assembly.
