Bought one of these 20 years ago. Couldn't get the fan to turn on this winter, but considered I got my moneys worth out of it. Probably spent $90 on it previously. Decided to purchase another one. Use some Humidifier Bactericide and Water Treatment Solution, change the filter when needed, and it should last a long time. Annually, vacuum the dust off the parts and clean out the reservoir.
does not perform as well as it says
Delivery was excellent. The unit assembled pretty easily. Literature says it is a whole house humidifier, up to 2,700 sq. ft. I have a 1,400 sq. ft. home on one level. It's 20 degrees F outside. The unit is set to 40% humidity, but doesn't read above 32, even though it's running constantly now that it's so cold outside. The humidity monitor in that room reads 30%, and in other rooms measures 19% to 28% humidity. Fan speeds 2 & 3 are too loud; I can hear it through the wall in the next room unless it's on 1. Even on the lowest fan setting it's louder than the AirCare Ultrasonic Aurora. It does not leave a film on everything the way the Aurora does. I know it's putting out humidity because the tank needs refilling regularly. It looks like I need another humidifier at the other end of the house, or in every room, if I want all rooms at 30%.
1800 sf split level home - does amazing!
Received a day early. Had to wait a week to use because the float rod bracket was broken - see pics. Once I got the new part it's been running like a champ! When I walk into the house I can feel the (55-59%) humidity at the door. No shocks. No static hair issues. No dry, bloody noses in the morning. House is comfortable. My only reason for 4 stars on quality besides the bracket is the difficulty getting the top installed after filter in place.
Read the Negative Reviews - They are Accurate
1. The wall of the unit is very thin plastic. I am very leery of the longevity of the product.
This product does what it says it should do, and does it very well. The thing to keep in mind is that the filters need to be changed every 2 weeks to a month, and the humidifier needs to be washed every 2 to 4 weeks. the good thing is that it is very easy to clean.
It does work Somewhat. Fundamentals are there YET,

This is the second Aircare 6 gallon humidifier I have purchased. The fan failed on the first one after about 5 years. I made the decision on this one based on the fact it could take care of my whole house. (2700 SF). This one has 3 speeds instead of 2 but I only use the low position because it is in our TV room and the higher speeds are quite noisy. Low is fine however and gets the job done. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the plastic filler cover does not fit perfectly but I suspect a little time with a file would take care of the problem. I use the recommended bacteria treatment and one bottle lasts most of the winter. I replace the wick once a year.
Good, easy to use humidifier using tap water.
Good humidifier. Easy to operate. Tank large enough that I only need to fill it every other day. No need to buy distilled water. Bought this one after using an atomizing humidifier in previous years which need distilled water. Maintains even humidity throughout 2000 square foot bi-level house even during coldest days of winter. Wick appears to be in good shape after 3+ weeks of constant use. I anticipate not having to get a new wick this winter season. I have been using a bacteriostat to treat the water which is available from local big box store for $3.50 a quart which lasts about a month to treat my roughly 2 gallons a day of use. The only knock I see for this humidifier is that the tank is relatively flimsy. The plastic is thin and I can understand why other reviewers had leakage problems. I have not had any problems but I have been careful with the tank. Airecare should have designed the tank to be a little heavier.

This whole house humidifier was very easy to assemble (do not throw away the foam piece that is part of the float). I live in a very dry climate where daytime humidity is usually around 20% or less. In the summer the evaporative cooler makes it so much better. So I looked into whole house humidifiers to attach to the furnace but I was concerned that it would not help enough as the furnace does not run the whole day. Most whole house humidifiers are for large homes. This one is for 2700 SF and is not as big as most. Although I enjoy some prettier wood encased design$ I chose this one for the size of my house (1800 SF) and it is on casters making it very easy to refill by rolling it to the sink. The humidity in my house went from 21 to 35% in 6 hours verified by two sensors far from the unit! I do not find the noise distracting as it is way less than the evaporative cooler on my roof. Here electricity is 4x more expensive in the afternoon than at night and 3x more than the morning hours so I have placed the unit on a timer to let it rest in the afternoon. The humidity only drops slightly during the 6 hours it is off. The mechanism of this unit is the same as my Duracraft room humidifier from the 90s which is still doing very well but will be retired now it is no longer needed. This gives me hope that this will last many years also. I have 2 filters, once a filter needs to be replaced due to hard water deposits I trade them out, using a vinegar solution to clean the caked on deposits, rinse and let it dry, odor is gone once dry and the filter is on vacation until traded out again with the other one. This unit provides a very economical way to be more comfortable all year long! I am very pleased with my purcha$e even though the removable front louver is a little warped.
Not Really Effective
I live in Nevada and got this as a solution to add humidity to my space. From the reviews, it looked promising. I've been running it 24-7 for months now and I can say with certainty that it does a very poor job at effectively humidifying even a single room. Why: it only raises the humidity when being run at Fan 2 or 3 setting, and those settings are extremely loud -- too loud to sleep or even be in the same room with. My kludgy workaround is to try to run it at the high settings when I'm not in the room and turn it down when I am, but that's a big inconvenience in a home environment. Additionally, the higher fan settings go through a ton of water so even at this large water carrying capacity, I'm constantly refilling it. As far as quality goes, it's basically a piece of plastic that holds a bunch of water that a fan runs over. You have to assemble it yourself when you get it. For what this item, costs, I was expecting something more substantial and higher quality materials. But at the end of the day, I feel like I use a lot of energy to run it and it barely keeps things above the red line. There's gotta be something better out there.
