Great Canvas Float Frame

Nice canvas float frame! I'm so glad you have various different canvas sized frames available. Will buy again. Comes with all the hardware for hanging and securing the frame to the canvas. I stapled an embroidery project around a canvas frame 9x12. Then I searched for a float frame to fit it. Jerry's for the win, I found the perfect size!

Beautiful quality floater frame

Quality of floater frame is very nice, clear instructions provided, and all hardware supplied for hanging. The eyelets were too big to install in the small 5x7 frame. I had some smaller ones of my own that worked. Manufacturer should supply smaller frames like this with smaller eyelets and predrill holes for them. Overall very happy with product though!

Great look, especially with Plein air paintings

These walnut colored frames are very complimentary to my landscape paintings. The price is reasonable especially compared to other frames with real wood. So much better looking than the vinyl covered cheap frames. I wish they would be available in 10 x 20 or 12 x 24! So I could have the same frame on all work that hangs together.

Frame your works at home.

I use these frames to mount my watercolors or mixed media. I laminate my work to 7/8 inch panels with acrylic medium. I trim the edges, sand and paint to match the piece. I coat them with Dorland's wax, then mount them in the frames. The frames can be painted to match the decor. So it is a relatively economical way to frame work at home. You could also paint on Aquaboard panels directly.

Great quality

I'm a professional artist and buy these Ampersand frames for their quality and hardware. Quality materials are used to create these frames and paintings are easily inserted without any problems. I have bought them for years and wish they would sell larger scale frames. These frames can be found at many art stores but Jerrysartarama are fantastic! The quick delivery and their service is always above and beyond. I prefer buying from Jerry's.

Well-designed. Quick and easy to assemble.

I use floating frames for my encaustics paintings, and though I've always bought the less-expensive Illusion brand floaters, they require drilling lots of holes for mounting metal brackets. I saw these Ampersand floaters here, and thought I'd give them a try. I was very impressed with Ampersand's well-thought-out mounting system. The pre-drilled holes save LOTS of time and trouble. The minimalist packaging looks good and reduces paper-use, but the other manufacturers' frames come with cardboard boxes that can be used for storing and protecting encaustic paintings for transportation to art shows. Also, these white Ampersand frames are completely white, which is quite elegant, but I think I prefer the matte black interiors on the white Illusions brand frames. It gives them more of a sense of floating. Furthermore, both brands' frames are slightly larger than standard cradled boards, resulting in a small gap, which is more apparent in the all-white Ampersand-framed paintings (see photo). Not a problem with large paintings, but might be for small ones.

High quality, sophisticated, reasonably priced

These frames are perfect for framing standard size panels. They are less than half the cost of having a floater frame of the same size made at a frame shop, and they are of similar quality. Personally, I always keep a few extras of these frames on hand in my studio in the sizes I use most. They save me time and money and the stress of frantically running around town whenever I need a last-minute frame for a group show or other opportunity that pops up on short notice. These frames are very good quality for the price, their modern classic/clean style is minimal and doesn't distract from or upstage the art itself, they look sharp and professional, and they are a very convenient way to frame your work yourself and save money without sacrificing professional quality. Honestly I'm surprised that ampersand seems to be the only company making a product like this. The only other prefab floater frames I've been able to find are either made of plastic or rough inferior wood, with shoddy construction and poor quality finishing. My only complaint would be that the ampersand frames don't include spacers to ensure you mount the artwork so that it is centered evenly and is level inside the frame. A couple of times I have ended up with either tilted artwork or asymmetrical float space around the art and had to start over and remount the art in the frame so that it is straight (with the panel's edges parallel to the edges of the frame) and evenly placed (with equal float space on all four sides). It can be tricky to redo this mounting if you've botched the first attempt because screws tend to resist minor adjustments in location and naturally want to go back in the same hole the same way they went in the first time. Moving it over a quarter of an inch is trickier than it sounds. It's also unfortunate that these frames are quite frequently out of stock, but I can understand why they are so popular.
