I'm disappointed in this lamp. The friction knobs at the joints cannot be tightened enough to keep the arms in position. I have very strong fingers and tightened the friction knobs as far as they will go. The shade's arm still sags, so I can't put the shade where I want it above the drawing board. Cheap product. You get what you pay for.

Will not stay in position

Had to modify lamp to get it to hold positions. Light works but lamp design doesn’t.

mediocre architect lamp

item arrived promptly, but I soon discovered that it actually has quite limited range of position, unlike the one it was intended to replace. I now know to look for a lamp with 3 legs on the bottom level in order to have the more useful, greater range of motion and position. I am returning this lamp, and will replace the worn-out swivel switch on the one I've been using for about the last 35 years.

One Out of Two Ain’t Bad.

I bought two of these to use in my office with plant light bulbs. One was fine, the other was completely trashed. It requires a minimal amount of assembly which was impossible because some parts were so badly dented/crushed, I could not put it together.

Affordable and does that job.

IT is not the state of the art, but it works and not built so cheap that it won't last. I think that I got a good value for my money. Thank you.

I was sent a returned item.

The box arrived badly damaged and was re-taped repeatedly. When I pulled the lamp out of it, the part that held the shade was bent and damaged. The cord was not wrapped as it should have been for a new item but pulled loose, and everything that came with it proved it had been used and then shoved back in the box in disarray. It must have been someone else's return. I am very disappointed that the seller shipped this item in that condition. I expected an unused item for what I paid.

doesn't have the reach of typical architects lamps

The shade is metal, but arm has a very limited movement. No springs in arm.

Better choices for the price

The lamp works fine, the base is the issue. Adjusting the top arm upwards usually pulls the entire lamp out of the base, which has no knobs to hold it in place or hold position of the lamp. I imagine this would be even more frustrating to someone with a drafting table.
