Reviews

Hello humans,

Small and compact, but so is dynamite, and unfortunately this Arctic Air Cooler falls short of an amazing cooling system. Easy setup, instruction were grade school simple. Wet the filter, fill the reservoir, turn it on. Fan speed, turbo-cooling feature, color changing lights, why the lights, probably a psychological aspect. Pretty lights attack a subset of individuals, but not me in this instance. That was a topical overview, so now let’s talk about. cooling. Does it cool, well of course it does, but not like you might think it should. Even on the highest setting it moves air across the wet filter so through an evaporative effect you do get some cool air, cool not cold, even if you freeze the filter before use and add ice cubes to the reservoir, it’s not much cooler. Next can it cool a small room, not my rooms, I tried the kids doll house for a few hours and it did make a difference but only if you were in very close proximity to the air coming through the vents. So two lasts thoughts, does it cool, yes but to maximize the effect you need to follow the instructions and freeze the wet filter before use and add ice cubes to the reservoir. Next, to get the most benefit from the cooling effect, you’ll need to be in very close proximity to the air coming out of the unit.

Don't waste your Money

Purchased 5 in the last few months. 4 of the 5 quit working. A considerable declined in quality from ones purchase 1 year ago. Lower amp power supplies which get hot and over heat are the main issue. The maker sent 2 replacement power cords. Had to source alternate replacements at my own expense. The latest failure involved the fan motor loosing two blades. The replacement fan is $15 so not really worth it when I only spent $30 for the whole unit.

A Satisfied Customer.

The price was well worth it to me. It does exactly what I need it to do as I keep it right at my bedside on my nightstand as well as carrying it to my livingroom when I am there because, I truly need it throughout the day. I haven't used it outside to see the difference it makes in the heat as my home is central air, however, I still need to be cooled down from time to time. I don't mind the sound it makes as it soothes me %26 I will say it truly feels like a portable air conditioner unit as it can get very cold to me causing me to turn it off. I like the different lights it gives as well as being able to adjust the fan. I have no complaints about it because I understand that it is NOT something to cool off my whole house. It is a small portable unit. In my opinion it is just right for those who go through those heat spell moments. I will update once I have used it outside to see how that works, but again, don't look for something in this product to cool off your whole room, but it DOES work within a good bit radius of your environment.

Didn’t even last 2 months and company doesn’t care

I bought two of these units back in April (3.5 months ago). I didn’t use them until around June when the weather turned hot outside. Both of my units are now broken, and the company won’t replace them because it’s past their “60 day warranty”. I have used my units EXACTLY like the instructions stated. One of them won’t even turn on anymore. It’s dead. The other unit cools, but leaks water profusely from the bottom. It’s not condensation, it’s a literal leak. I have to use it while placed inside a bowl or a high-edged plate. The instructions say that if there’s any problems with the unit, to contact the company and NOT return to the store. So I did, and they still don’t care. This is truly the biggest piece of junk and waste of money I’ve ever owned. I’ve contacted my Walmart, and they said I can return the units there for store credit.

Horrible product, worse company

I bought two of these units thinking they would be awesome. Not even two months after use, both of them are broken. The first unit quit working period…it doesn’t have any power. The second unit leaks water profusely out the bottom. It’s not condensation, but an actual leak. In order to use the unit, I have to set it in a bowl or a high-edged plate. I contacted the company, Arctic Air, and they refuse to do anything about it because it’s slightly past their “60 day warranty” period. The warranty paper inside the box states that if there’s any problems, do not return to the store but contact their customer service. Well, their customer service was horrible. It’s clear this company knows they have a defective and cheap product, and doesn’t care or back it up. Please don’t waste your money on these. Oh, and as far as satisfaction when the units were actually working: they’re mediocre. The amount of cold air is low, and it’s far from “arctic”. Even on the highest speed, you can barely feel it. A $20 Vortex personal fan would do the exact same thing as this.

It works, but it has a few catches

This little cooler has been useful to me, but it has a catch. YOu cant just put cold water on the pads and in the reservoir, or it wont do much other than cool you down by a few degrees. What I did to make it last long was soak the pads, then freeze them. When I need it, I will pull a frozen pad out of the fridge, put ice in the water in the reservoir, and point it at me. It wont cool down a whole room, only you. I keep mine on my desk pointed at me as I game. Works well for a couple of hours, then I switch the pad out for the second one I bought separately. This has been working for me since 2021.

Dont waste your time on this product. it doesnt work. leaks water from condensation all over. the water lasted maybe 2 hours not 10 hours. the email they give you doesnt work. it states to not return to the store that you purchased it from. you will call get put on hold for a long time only to return it to the store you purchased it from. terrible!!!!

Terrible

I did not read reviews but I did notice the low ratings. However, due to the heat, I decided to try it. I followed the directions with freezing the cartridge and using ice cubes, plus cold water. The water evaporates too quickly needing a refill only two hours later. The water leaked all over the table onto my hardwood floors. It provided low fan at best. Even if priced at $16 (which it should be), I would still only give one star. This should not be available for sale.

Waste of Money

Sadly this product provided no relief to a hot house when my A/C broke. I bought two of them and expected that they would not heat a large area, just make air in one small room bearable with conventional fans. However, unless you have your face up to the unit you won’t feel cold air. Leaves huge puddle under it as water evaporates and the plugs got very hot. Sticking an ice cube down your shirt is a better option.

Even after following the directions for “maximum cooling” (soaking the filter and freezing it, turning on the turbo option), this thing blows a more anemic stream of air than my small personal desk fan (which is just a fan). Not only did it do absolutely nothing to cool the room, I could barely feel it on my face sitting at my desk with it pointing right at me, even after letting it run for half an hour. It was also not quiet as the product advertises, especially when on the highest setting. Not worth the hassle of cleaning/maintenance, and certainly not worth the money when my desktop fan does a better job of cooling than this.

Ruined my grandsons dresser!

Please make sure you put some sort of pan on this every time you use it. Or take it back and get your money back! Used this in my grandsons room when we stayed the night. Woke up to check on it and there was water all over the dresser, down the dresser and all over the floor. The raised water marks did not go away once it dried out. I feel bad and now I need to replace his dresser. The hubby took it on his Semi and puts a dish pan under it. It works as long as he sleeps right in front of it!

It’s worth it

I got three of these arctic air products and I absolutely love mine. I gave one to my roommate and my older dog (yes dog lol) has the other. It keeps him cool on hot days. And I have to say it has helped through the menopause hot flashes. It’s not going to cool a whole room (I knew it wasn’t going to either to small) but it does create a bubble of coldness. And the roommate also uses theirs daily. 5 stars from 2 humans and 1 old pup.

Don’t Waste Your Money

First off dissatisfaction with this item isnt allowed. As soon as you open the box theres a card telling you not to return it to the store. Secondly the fan sits behind the electronics so air flow is inhibited. You’ll get cool air out of 1/4 of all that front vent space. I’m not even numbering the rest of this item’s faults: the manual shows a a cooling cartridge full from one side to the other of the material used to hold water, 10 pieces. The cooling cartridge inside the unit has half that so air flow isnt sufficiently cooled. Condensation on the front grill is to be expected but 1/8” in the bottom of the unit was not. You have to be 8 inches or less from the unit to feel the air flow. The owner’s manual tells you to run it on high for 4 hours to dry it out. Considering that i live in an area of high heat and low humidity I’ll opt to pull the cartridge and set it on the back of the dish drainer. The owner’s manual says it runs for 12 hours on low. The tank was empty after 4 hours on low. The owner’s manual contains typos. Any professional who cant proofread or use English in the correct context shouldnt have access to your money. I want permission to return this product for a full refund.

Pleasantly surprised

Needed to keep cool at my desk and a failing AC unit in this Texas heat. I was not disappointed. It is very humid here and it reaches 100 degrees outside. Yet I have seen no excess condensation on the little unit (so far maybe 3 drops in the past 5 hours) and have been comfortable with it on, haven't had to put it on full fan nor use the turbo mode thus far and it is high sun and heat out. Most definitely happy with it, really good for a small area coverage.

A good product

At first I wasn’t impressed and I didn’t think it was blowing out cold air, but then I tried adding ice cubes and I found that it helped a lot. Now I use it all the time icon hot days and I am very impressed. The only thing I am not thrilled about is that it makes a loud noise. If you give it a try and are not impressed I insist trying it again and giving it another try with ice cubes and you will see the difference. Chances are good that it won’t cool off the room unless you have a fan on, but it will keep you cool. I would recommend this product.

I would buy this again

I did not purchase this here but came across this so wanted to review. I was given one of these and I must say, I was surprised at how well it works. I live in Florida and am one of those people who is always hot. I put this on my desk and it works incredibly. It is not for a big space but for my personal space, it is perfect. Most of the time I actually turn it down because it works too well. It is not loud and the soft lights on it are relaxing in my opinion. No, I am not paid to review this and again, I didn't even buy on this sight but I definitely recommend that you do.

Does expected for size

I purchased this for my studio apartment with no AC. I fill it with tap water and sometimes add a frozen ice pack.

To be honest, I was hoping for better from this product. But being in Florida I don’t think this is the best product for a high humid place. It’s almost as good as a fan while you’re sweating, even after soaking the cartridge, freezing it, and adding a boatload of ice to the top with water.

Surprisingly effective

Bought in February 2023 when our evap stopped working, just so we could get some sleep during a heatwave. Chose to buy one for each side of the bed as my room is large.
