I was a bit reluctant as it takes two C batteries. I do not usually have that kind on hand. The plus was that it makes them bottom heavy for more stability when the kitty gets in the window. They will stay on during a cloudy day, but there is a switch if I wish to control them manually. It is just a subtle, lovely glow. Every year, I miss the Christmas candles, not anymore.
