Great pergola, would purchase again!

I bought this pergola in the summer. Only took 2 people to build and all things considered wasn’t too hard! I’ve been enjoying it for several months now, and I couldn’t be happier! Looks awesome and makes my back deck feel like an inviting space to entertain and hang out! Would definitely recommend!

[Rewarded Review] Brings New Life to Back Yard Patio

I built a patio in our back yard and we added this pergola to that space. It is now a beautiful feature that is also functional with the power ports. I was able to sting some colorful outdoor lights around the top of the pergola so we can set the mood after dark. I was also able to build a removable projector mount that allows us to watch movies projected onto a nearby wall. We're really enjoying the space more than we imagined!

[Rewarded Review] Great product; Excellent price

My wife and I re-stained it with a waterproofing stain with a color of our choice. There was nothing wrong with the stain it came with but, since we had to waterproof it, we chose a different color, and it looks beautiful! We have not anchored it yet, but it is holding steady to some strong winds. The pergola is kind of heavy, once assembled, and we are trying to figure out how to lift it up so we can place the plates/footers and anchor it. Love it thus far!

[Rewarded Review] Sturdy, well built, looks great!

I bought this over the Summer and am very pleased with it. I also bought a pergola shade to add additional shade in the evening from the sun and hung string lights around it too. If you buy this just watch when you’re putting it together paying extra cloe detail to the wood layout and pre drilled holes. Also make sure your building it where you intend to put it. I built it where it would be easier for me to manage putting it together then afterwards it was the wrong way lengthwise so I wound up standing in the middle under the pergola and lifting it up at balance point to rotate it slowly. Also make sure if you do want to move it you have 4 people with muscle. I’m a big guy and did it by myself but it’s not light once it’s assembled.

Sturdy and Beautiful

We purchased this pergola a year ago when we were in the middle of our backyard renovation. I'd dreamt of having this pergola in my yard for about ten years, and it's everything I'd hoped for! You definitely need multiple people to put it together, and I highly recommend getting footers poured so you can secure it. My husband had four friends come over for a "barn raising" of sorts, and that was super helpful.

Truth in Advertising

I purchased this product from Samsclub.com on 5/13/2022 after seeing it in my local store. What the advertising DOES NOT MENTION are the facts that one must waterproof the product in order to maintain its warranty and it can only be mounted on a concrete patio or on concrete footers at one's own expense. Due to the pergola size and the number of individual wooden pieces, waterproofing this bulky and large product is a major task (or nightmare). If I had known that it wasn't waterproofed by the manufacturer, I would have never bought this product. It's only stained. Additionally, I have a paver patio that the company told me over the telephone that they didn't recommend mounting on pavers. I would have to install concrete footers bought at my local hardware store.

Beautiful group of three

We put three pergolas side-by-side on our back deck after losing all our trees to a windstorm. It has enhanced the beauty of our home. It provides a beautiful family gathering place. We added a king size sheet to the center for extra shade until are honeysuckles grow up into the roof of the Pergola. I especially like the multi level top; the cross beams are aesthetically pleasing. Using multiple kids gave us the opportunity to see that not all holes pre-drilled holes lined up and it’s difficult to get them perfectly squared. We tried hanging hammock chairs from the frame and that was too much weight and had to remove those. Overall very pleased with the look of the three pergolas side-by-side. We have them standing on a composite wood deck and they slide very easily.

This pergola is beautiful and well built

We purchased this unit last summer. It comes in extremely heavy containers. We removed the items, and laid them out by number on the garage floor to make sure all the parts were there. Due to shipping damage to the box, one set of screws was missing, and one small 2 x 2 rafter board was broken. I called Sams customer service, and they had replacement items shipped right away. This unit is nice quality, and comes with an easy to read assembly instructions. You need to seal this pergola, so we decided to seal all the boards before they were assembled....easier than painting on a ladder.. We used Thompsons water seal, clear, and our unit still looks brand new. I would recommend that if you are not young and very strong, that you hire someone to assemble it...the contractor said the instructions were easy to follow and that all necessary hardware is included . We are very happy with our purchase ..

Painstakingly Beautiful!

For starters, if you can find it in the club grab it. Our clubs were out of stock and I did not want to wait until September before I could enjoy my Pergola so I bit the bullet and paid the extra $500 (GULP)!

Somerville Pergola

Finally was able to find this pergola when it was on sale. Definitely had to call the stores often to see if their delivery arrived. Not all Sams Club personal were willing to help, but the Sams Club in Gardena....well, your customer service people were always willing to check their stock and told me when the stock came in. We hurried down and picked one up!

Nice in the end, miserable directions to assemble

It is sturdy, comes with all the parts, does not have good assembly instruction, in fact, they are not useful at all. They give you a link to scan, you have to add an app to get it to work and it still is not much help. We went to Sam's and shot close up pictures and went from those. The wood is soft as cedar can be and there are several damaged areas from packing that we needed to touch up (paint stick or stain not included) The box wasn't damaged so it had to be during packing.

Reinvent your outdoor space! Stunning pergola!

We bought this pergola to create more livable outdoor space during the pandemic; we especially wanted a shaded outdoor space that we could use while we work from home and while our kids do virtual schooling from home. With some minimal help from me, my wife was able to put this kit together in about 4 hours. Our style is a bit more modern, so we cut the pointed edges off of ceiling beams, but I imagine most others would want to keep the original style, which looks fantastic too. We bought a 9x12 outdoor rug from Overstock as well, added a table and chairs, hung some lights, and now we have our own outdoor heaven. This pergola is STUNNING. The cedar wood smells and looks so good, and having the power hookup included, with on and off buttons, makes hanging and using the outdoor lights so easy! I wholeheartedly recommend this pergola!

Near perfect.

I would say this was a near perfect pergola! There were a few issues though so I can't give it five stars as much as I want to.

Good Value and Looks Great!

This is a very good value if it is stocked at your local SAM's. The two long, heavy boxes fit into my mini-van with the seats taken out. In Southern California, the climate is very sunny all year around, so I was concerned about the stain finish's long-term durability, even with a protective clear sealer applied, as is recommended. Clear sealers may waterproof the substrate, but will provide very little UV light protection. I wanted this to last for years with easy maintenance, so I painted all the pieces with three coats of high-grade house paint before assembling it. Three coats were required to completely cover the silver color with a pure white. Also, the kit comes with very spaced out wood strips across the top, so there is almost no shade provided with the standard kit. I was able to place two additional strips between each pair - so now it is like a patio cover with noticeable shade. With the added strips being painted too, three gallons of paint were needed in total.

Very Happy, great Deal!

I’m very happy with my purchase. Price with tax from Sam’s Club was ~$850 on sale. I constructed and erected this solo. I first sealed the individual pieces (6 hours), then put together the main outside pieces of the structure. Next, I purchased concrete deck footers from Lowe’s (4 for $25) and drilled the included footer frames into the top. Then I placed the 2 smaller outside frame structures inside the footers and drilled them into the plastic frame footer. Now freestanding, I used a ladder to place and drill the long 2 outside frame pieces to the 2 shorter freestanding frame structures, leaving the bolts loose to adjust for level/squaring. Next I measured all the lengths/widths at the top of the structure, since these would not change as they were bolted. I then took the same measurements at the bottom, and moved the concrete footers accordingly until the measurements matched the top. I then used a laser level to make sure all the footers were at the exact same level, and added..
