Very nice lightweight elevated chair
This chair is excellent for those who wish to be higher off the ground than some of the other brand offerings. It's easier to stand up from with tired legs. I did not find this chair as versatile or comfortable as some of the other brands, but it is much easier to get up from after sitting. The weight is fairly light for its sturdiness and durability. The pole lock mechanisms are a little cumbersome compared to brands that don't have them, but I've gotten use to them. Actual rating would be 4.5 for me compared to other chairs I've tried, but this chair is excellent and will work perfectly for those who want to be higher off the ground and not have to carry a heavier chair.
Review of Big Agnes Skyline UL Chair Lightweight Camping Chair
Easy and quick to put up/take down/pack. Lightweight and portable. Generally comfortable but can dig in slightly just under the arms. Water pools a bit from wet swimmers but dries out quite fast.
Incredible Chairs
I recently purchased two of these chairs for my girlfriend and myself. They may be a bit heavier than some of their competitors, but the quality of construction, comfort and being a few inches higher off of the ground make it totally worth the bit of extra weight. I highly recommend going with these if any of the aforementioned highlights are of concern to you. Couldn’t be happier.
Great Camp Chair
This is a fantastic chair. Used it for backpacking for the first time this week. Very lightweight and comfortable to sit in. Easy, straighforward setup. Looking forward to many trips with this. Highly recommend.
Review of Skyline UL Chair
Wildbounds delivered an excellent service. The Big Agnes Skyline UL chair was on offer so decide to try it out. It was good. Unfortunately though even at £75 it was still more than twice the price of another lightweight chair I tested. I'm not sure how these branded UL chairs can be so expensive when lesser brands can do the same or better for lots less £ and not many more grams. So I ended up returning this item. Wildbounds were helpful throughout.
Review of Skyline UL Chair
Absolutely brilliant piece of kit. So lightweight, will definitely take this bike packing. It makes such a difference to have a decent seat when camping. Also it was great for putting all my gear on while I was setting up and taking down the tent. Just perfect.
I bought two Skyline UL chairs for my husband and I last spring, in yellow. I should’ve bought 4 at the time. The yellow is now out of stock, and the price was higher this year, but still very fair. My daughters (age 8 & 11) had been using hand-me-down folding chairs that were heavy and bulky. The cheap fabric on those chairs started to fray, so we decided to upgrade their camp chairs to match ours. Bonus, now they fit in one of our existing camping bins. Love how compact and comfortable these chairs are.
Great comfort-weight ratio across the line
I bought the Skyline UL, the Mica Basin, the Mica basin XL, and the Big Six. I'd say the UL is almost as comfortable as the Mica Basin, but significantly lighter, and more packable, so it is fine value in my mind.
Lightweight and comfy
This is a great compact chair. It's not the lightest option, but not the heaviest either. It sits comfortably in the mid range for weight. 2 distinct advantages this chair benefits from over similar products is that it sits higher than the others, and has no plastic joints that may eventually end up as a point of failure.
Great chair but…
Chair is awesome and comfy for big chasis folks. However, the caps on the end of frame that holds the elastic band shot off and I was unable to licate. I submitted a claim for a replacement part with Moosejaw, and they siad sorry Charlie. You gotta go through big agness. I’m probably screwed there too, so Im going to have the part 3d printed
[Rewarded Review] Happy take-me-everywhere-chair
I got one a few years ago since my husband and I live in the city and ride our bikes to beaches and picnics. He always loved mine so we finally got one for him! It’s so lightweight and takes up almost no room in our backpacks. It’s not too bad of a learning curve to stretch the fabric on, and it has become easier and faster with time so definitely don’t let that get you down (I originally got him the ultra lightweight one, but couldn’t get that seat on to save my life so went back to this model and it’s great). If you can, spring for the one with a cup holder. I know we often think about how handy that would be…(often!)
[Rewarded Review] Problem Solved!
I’m 6 feet tall and weigh 200 pounds. I always borrow my buddy’s chair because when there’s a group of us it’s so great to have a chair and just sit around the campfire sharing memories and telling old stories. I always used a Z light mat, and then jumped in my buddies chair when they got out. However, I always had the same problem. I was consistently falling back and sinking into the soil.
[Rewarded Review] Wish List come true!
I used to have a 1 lb. UL Chair (still do, its just broken.) My two main issues were (1) it was too low to the ground and (2) the plastic joints broke! I would rather carry a chair that is a little heavier to have 6" more off the ground, I no longer have to "roll out" of the chair to get up (this could have contributed to the joints breaking.) With this "Joint free" design, there are no plastic pieces to crack and break. The "sloped" back legs also keep the legs from sinking into the ground as much (problem #3 solved.) All in all a great chair. After all, what good is a 1 lb. chair, if you end up on the ground anyway!
[Rewarded Review] Best UL chair for backpacking with kids
I bought three Big Agnes Skyline UL Chairs in Yellow on sale. Still expensive, but well worth it so that we are comfortable around the campfire after backpacking.
Excellent backpacking or light canoe camping chair!
This is my partner and I's second Skyline Chair. We are very happy with them. They are lightweight and feel very durable. They also sit higher off the ground than some of the other lightweight chairs. Generally, I feel like this chair is more versatile and durable than the other 'super' ultralight chairs. I am glad to only have to buy one chair that I can use on almost any occasion, from a UL hike to a beach day, rather than an UL chair and then needing another chair for more relaxed day.
[Rewarded Review] Compact, Comfortable, Worth the Weight
Like everyone else, I asked myself if I needed a chair to sit on when I got back to camp. I decided to give it a go and live with carrying the extra weight. Let me tell you, I find it totally worth it. My back is always sore at the end of the day but having a seat with a backrest is invaluable to feeling like I can actually relax those muscles. The chair folds up nicely, doesn't weight much, and feels like a real chair. Highly recommend.
[Rewarded Review] Loving our “Great” Agnes
Big Agnes replaced another similar chair however, Agnes is much quicker to assemble, easier to slip into its bag without legs flopping all over, I can assemble it myself without fighting to get the final rod into its pocket, and it has a more compact shape for storage. I love everything about this chair…and it’s really comfortable too. Thankfully another camper stopped by to compare his Big Agnes to our other brand. The result was we later switched from our more expensive chair to Big Agnes.
[Rewarded Review] Lightweight, durable chair
I'd been meaning to buy a chair like this since I have back pain and sitting on the ground is not as friendly as it once was. I was deciding between a few and landed on this one because it's a wider bucket style chair, with a bit of a higher back than others, but still low to the ground. I chose the yellow color in case the black held onto heat in the sun.
Big Agnes Skyline UL Chair
This is an amazing and comfortable chair that can be transported anywhere you go. It is very light weight and easy to transport. Assembling and taking it down take minutes. It fits nicely in a backpack, but is also small and easy to carry. I have used this chair in the city when travelling around to outdoor concerts or parks, and have also taken it on a 5 day canoe trip. It also holds people of all shapes and sizes and can be used on uneven ground, without worry of falling. I am very pleased with this product. It is well worth the money. You will not be disappointed!!
[Rewarded Review] Nice, but….
Nice chair; appears to be well-made. Somewhat complicated to put together at first. My main complaint however, is that it sits waaaay too low to the ground for anyone not in top-top shape. I noted the height of it before I purchased, but 16 inches off the ground in reality is far less than it would seem on paper. You’re trying to haul the heaviest part of your body (butt) from a sitting position to 90 degrees straight up in one fell swoop. There are no arms to grab for balance or to boost oneself up, so it is the same as trying to rise from a SUPER deep-knee bend…from 16” off the ground. Probably not a problem for a very fit person—which may be the majority of backpackers— but definitely not for anyone with knee trouble or in less than optimal condition. Had to return mine.
