I had one for 20 years works just as well.
You can hang strips %26 let them air dry with a fan before smoking.
I wore out my older Big Chief smoker after years of use. I found out the top loader smokers were still available, so I searched for it. I found three or four sites that offered the smoker, however, Walmart was the least expensive, and had very reasonable delivery times. Very happy with my Walmart experience.
poor workmanship
thin metal dented, rack holders too far apart (dont hold racks), embarrasing to say 'made in america'

Had to use silver solder to fix the hangers. Thin sides don't hold heat well.
Should of spent more money
Poor construction, 3 shelf holders had to silver solder back on. then 3 others broke loose. Thin metal sides don't keep the heat in if it's cold outside.
Big Chief is the perfect size
I already have the Mini Chief smoker and have used it for years. The Big Chief top load is very similar only 3 times as large which will allow me to make a huge amount of Jerky in 6 hours instead of two days of smoking.
great smoker
great smoker.
Great affordable smoker
It's a great, affordable smoker for fish, jerky, and vegetables because of its relatively low temperature setting (165 degrees F).

It is difficult to load. You have to pick up racks filled with meat, slide the rack into the smoker from the top. Front loading would be better.

I like the fact that it's easy to use it will hold a whole rack of ribs I don't like that it is very thin metal and you have to be careful if it dents or creases to me it should have been built better but still a good product

This smoker works for me
If you smoke salmon it is worth owning this smoker. It's a low heat smoker perfect for fish. The fish comes out more like it's been in a deyhydrator than a cooker. The texture is perfect.
Wood smoking chips
Essential for grilling with charcoal, gives the meat a great flavor!
Fish smoker
This is a replacement smoker for one Ive had for about 10 years.Very happy with product as it does great job.
Not a cold smoker unless you reengineer it
Good product pan should be cast iron and top loader is bad idea. Front loader would be way easier. Basic smoker does really well. Thought the fire department was gonna show due to all the smoke. A water pan would be a good idea too. A smoke generator for cold smoke would have saved the cheddar cheese. Once you break the learning curve you have a useful tool but it gives odd heats and lots of it. Not a cold smoker what so ever unless you buy a heat generator separately.
Little chef to Big chef
Had the smaller little chief for years decided to go bigger can now smoke larger amounts of fish and meats. Great product works great great for anyone that likes to smoke their fish and meats highly rate this item.
Great smoked trout
I have used your smokers for years. I also have a Little Chief smoker. Both work very well
