I have purchased these blackout curtains, in the past as well. I have reddish - burgundy bamboo blinds behind these blackout curtain , in my bedroom. I can sleep awesome now, with privacy %26 no sunlight or street light coming through these curtains . I would suggest getting a dark color %26 maybe putting a blind of some sort behind these , to get the most effectiveness . RECOMMEND!!
not totally blackout curtains
Very nice for the price. Color is great but they are not really blackout curtains. The light cones through and most important is that they are short !!! Not 84 inches. So you will have to hang them a bit lower if you don't want the light to come through from the floor. Hanging them lower may not be an option if you have larger window trim. Doesn't look great having short curtains !! Can look very cheap !!
Not blackout curtains
What I expected is not what I got! I finally was able to put them up after the room was painted. Im extremely disappointed. The color is much darker than shown and these are not blackout curtains. Our room faces south and I can see light through the curtains. If there weren't shades on the windows I'd have sunlight coming through the curtains. the packaging, once opened, is not condusive to returning them. so I'll put them in a room that I dont sleep in.
Definitely not blackout
While I actually really like the color of these curtains, they definitely are not blackout. They are room darkening, but not blackout. I do not have a problem with the quality as to stitching, etc. In the pic you can see how much light is showing through and you can tell I have the blind open. Overall I do think they are nice and would recommend them, but only if you don't mind them not actually being blackout.
Dove White is bluish & Blackout is more of a room darkening
I ordered these panels in Dove White. After reading the reviews of others, I thought that the bluish hue would not matter much. It did matter to me. Also, these curtains are not true blackout curtains. The quality is nice. I will be returning these as I have ordered the panels in cream color. I hope the cream color will match better for my room.
Nice
I liked the fact that it darkens the room dramatically they are thick. They do not have the plastic backing nor the white fabric backing like the usual darkening curtains. As for the color it says taupe but it is more on the goldish tone. Taupe is grey and tan more grey hues. It still worked though!
White is NOT white (more like a light gray-blue)
The white color, in person, looks more like a light gray-blue color. They are thin, so they do not block out *all* the light (definitely don’t feel like they would provide thermal protection either).
Great value. Sun zero grommet curtain panels
These are not 100% blackout which is fine with me. (I did not expect full black out). I ordered stone and pearl as I didn't now which color would work best for my off white walls. They are not lined which is a little disappointing. The material is not shiny. Not matte. I
Great Curtains for the low price of $6.88 each!
No matter what others say, these have very good light blackout. I chose them to help keep out summer heat and they will do this. There is no lining. For those who wanted theater grade blackout curtains, why didn't you order that? The fabric is thick and it feels wonderful~ like a thick skin. The color is exactly what is shown, Pearl. Very slight grayish, very slight and will pass as beige and go with beige decor. For those complaining they ordered white, that's impossible, there is no white option. The color is Pearl. I love them.
Well made and quality, but not great as blackouts
I've purchased other Sun Zero products before and loved them. They were cheap material with a white plastic-like coating that really blocked all light. The exact model I had purchased before is no longer available, so I took a chance on these. The grey color was lighter than I expected. It seems like they could get dirty easily if you have kids or pets. The quality of the material is really luxurious though! It is a quality worthy of your living room!! The grommets are great and make them very easy to open and close. The size (63 inches long) is my favorite, as I like to make sure they don't touch the floor or radiators. The biggest negative is the amount of light blocking. The material is just 2 layers with no extra coating to block light. They let a lot of light through. This is surprising for the Sun Zero brand. I would not buy this exact model for a bedroom or somewhere that you really want to be dark. My title really sums it up: "Well made and quality, but not great as blackouts"
Satisfied Customer
I really love these blackout curtains. I needed something to help block the west sun in my bedrooms. These curtains are perfect. I have had them up for about a month now and I can tell the difference in the bedrooms and my Central AC is not running all day and night. They were easy to hang. I did launder them prior to hanging. They did great on delicate wash and dry and look like they did out of the package. I would certainly purchase again. And they were on sale so the price cannot be beat. I feel that I got good value for my money.
Glide easily on the rod
I bought some beige ones and they are more of a light brown. I don’t like the color at all because they don’t match my room. So I bought some black ones and they’re nice. They are very soft and cover the sun well. Best of all they are so easy to glide open and close on the curtain rod and I don’t even need to tie them back because they don’t bunch up like others. They just hang down very nicely. Just don’t get the beige because they’re a weird color. It’s better to buy at the store than online because the colors are off from the description.
Okay, but not perfect.
Although they are beige in color, they do block out a little more light than I expected. And this color "stone" perfectly matches my bedspread. I purchased two panels, of course, and it appears both may have been in the warehouse for quite some time as there are tiny holes in the creases from being folded for a long time. Fortunately, this window does not get a lot of sunlight so the holes are not noticeable, therefore, I'm not going to return them. However, in the future, I believe I would spend more time physically shopping around in other stores as opposed to ordering online from any retailer.
Pure Perfection!!! Window Covers!!!
I absolutely love Sun Zero Nolan Energy Efficient "Black" Blackout Grommet Single Curtain Panels in the color, black. Because they are the best, I have them on 30 windows in my home! I also have them hanging all the way around our Theater Room so that it totally makes it extremely dark, and they help to amplify the acoustics, base boom and Surround Sound just like a real Movie Theater!! They are so very amazing, because for all my other rooms, they keep the light out totally when I have a need for my rooms to be dark, and they are noise cancelling - keeps outside noise, outside! For the weather and temperature, in the Winter, the curtains block out the cold and helps to keep the house and rooms at a comfortable level. In the Spring, Summer and Fall, when it is warmest, the curtains block the heat out, again they keep the house and rooms at a comfortable level. We don't constantly have to turn the thermostat up and down, whether hot or cold, set it and forget it!
Not what I expected.
These are very nice fabric, but should not be called Sun Zero. A lot of light still comes through. They are just a dark fabric. I am handicapped and have already washed and had them hung, and no way to get back to return them so keeping them. But there are better ones on the market, that I have bought at Walmart, that truely darkened the room. So still waking up with my headaches from morning sun. They are beautiful curtains if you are not having a real light issue. The name of the curtain is very misleading.
Frustration
What a saga these panels presented! I have waited for a couple years to place this order--always hunting the "perfect" panels for our triple-width sliders. If one is looking for "white," this is not your purchase. These are a light shade of gray--except for the back of them facing the outside. They do a fair job at sun blocking, so that portion is accurate. Requiring two panels, side by side, and meeting in the middle means the panels must be even in length. The first two panels found one a full one inch longer than the other--in addition to one of them being visibly different in thickness. Macy's informed me they were shipping replacement panels within 4 to 6 days. I called them on day 8, and nothing had been shipped. I was forced to accept a refund and place a new order. Oh, well ... I have 4 panels ... all of differing lengths. This panel might work for another shopper if only 1 panel is needed. Out of 4 panels, I found 2 that will work--but still not exact length. Disappointment.
Nice but NOT blackout curtains
They are nice enough. Decent price. Silky. Nice color. However, I ordered black out curtains, which SHOULD mean it blacks out all sun. This is Arizona, after all. But no. They are thin and only room darkening... to some extent. If it weren't such a complex task finding matching curtains in various sizes I would send them back. Be advised.
Practical and beautiful curtain panels
These curtains are fantastic! We have 4 different sets in various rooms. They do a wonderful job of insulating in the summer and winter. They hang very nicely and feel quite sturdy. They have held up well to washing thus far, but are also very easy to spot clean (I have 3 kids and a large dog). The grommets slide smoothly over curtain rods and are very sturdy. I have been especially pleased with their ability to block out light. We had curtains in our bedroom before, but we sleep so much better with these behind those curtains to actually keep ALL of the street light out! 5 star product and if we need more curtains like this, we will definitely be looking at these exact ones again. The white ones we ordered have the blackout panel behind them, but the fronts are still crisp white
