Perfect fit! Beautiful clock!

The clock is stunning! I was worried about putting it together but was super simple! Attaching the pendulum, inserting batteries and done. The chime is great and love the feature for the volume adjustment. Especially the 8 hour “nighttime” mode.

I love the fact that this clock runs on batteries... no winding or weights to fool with ....I like the chimes , sounds great, but the option to cut them off is a plus....for the price ...this clock is a good buy.

The clock looks great - but what's not mentioned in the specs - it needs 2 X D batteries and 2 X C batteries to run AND the light needs to be plugged in. The mechanics are a bit chintzy and plastic - the light is very dull (looks exactly like the photo where really only the bottom is illuminated well). Ours arrived with a defective chime. I first reached out to Howard Miller and the were awful to deal with - short, terse one sentences replies. I finally called Hayneedle who got me the info I needed. I have to call a clock repair shop and have them come out to fix it - which means taking 1/2 day off work. Very annoying considering the price of the clock.

Beautiful clock

I've wanted a grandfather clock for years and this one hit all the marks for me, it looks so nice in my living room. I would give it 5 stars but I can't get the hourly chime to strike the proper hour, it's one off. I emailed Howard miller and they told me to "grab the hour hand and move it" there is no access to the hands, just the time setting wheel behind the clock face. When I told Howard miller this they told me do disassemble the back and remove the clock face to move the hour hand.... I don't think so...., I had a much better idea, I turned the chimes off.

I spent many months researching a grandfather clock and finally decided on this model. I LOVE it! The cabinet is just stunning and substantial but not over-done, while the face is just ever so slightly antiqued. It sits impressively in the room without being too over the top huge. You notice it first thing as you enter my home. My family has always owned a grandfather's clock and I was tired of all the 'fussy' ornate models. This clock has a clean and crisp look, but yet is a conversation piece in my home. The chime 'Ave Maria' is absolutely beautiful in person. Sounds like a wonderful church bell (has volume control and night-time off settings). I get tons of compliments and you won't be disappointed. I just love to sit with a cup of coffee and look at this clock in my formal living room. Price is great on this model also (ranks with the pricer Howard Miller's in cabinet quality) What is great about the distressed black is that it isn't trendy and if you change your furniture, it will fit many decor choices, enjoy!
