Boards shrink and whole thing fails
Less than a year after purchasing, the slats have shrunk and the foot portion of the bed sinks.
Supports 300 lbs!
I purchased this bed for my adult son who is 6 ft. tall and weighs over 300 lbs. He absolutely loves it. He said he no longer feels he is going to fall out of bed. It is well-made and sturdy. All parts went together easily. The extra storage underneath is a great bonus. Only time will tell if the bed continues to hold up under the weight of my son, but I have high hopes.
Appearance and quality just ok
I received my order but it was not easy. I only received one tracking number. Wlmt had no idea where the rest of my order was or that there was even more to ship. The description of the item was contradictory advising yes and no for a box spring. The manufacturer responded quickly and answered my questions. However the item arrived with chips and many blemishes. None of the parts were labeled. I was hoping for a more seamless delivery but this was a very frustrating purchase to receive and assemble. Get someone to assemble for you!
Perfect for those 6’1 height
Assembling this bed on difficulty I would say 7/10. Overall, the frame is perfect, and I definitely recommend having box springs with it. I bought a 8” mattress thinking it was high enough but when I sat down on the bed you can easily hit the edge of the bed frame which can be dangerous. Other than that the drawers are every roomy and deep.
Overall good and sturdy bed but nothing fancy
Good:
Decent Bed if you catch it on sale
Overall I though it was a good bed. I noticed some of the wood chipped during transport. It arrived with imperfections. Nothing functional so I kept it. I thought it was lacking stability so I added L brackets to the corners. With my modifications it’s a really durable bed. The other issue I had was the directions mislabeled the parts. It made it confusing. I don’t think I would have paid full price for it. I caught it on sale for 292. I do think it needs a little box spring because the wood planks will leave splinters in your mattress
Well designed, easy assembly.
I like that this is designed to be used with the drawers on either side. The manufacturer has drilled holes so you can choose which side they're on, but I have a better solution. Since the head and foot boards are identical, simply turn the bed around. I really like that the slats provided run lengthwise and not crosswise. This eliminates the need for box springs. Seems quite sturdy, though I wouldn't jump on it. Someday I'd like to see a bed with this that has deep drawers that extend the full width of the bed. Be careful of the color coating, it's very thin and is easily damaged. One person assembly.
Fine for now, but won't last
It was a lot of work putting it together. I’ve been using it now for about a year. I’m pretty gentle with it so it’s still good, but I see bits and pieces falling off due to poor quality materials (lots of fiberboard). It’s a fine design. Very practical. I wouldn’t recommend using it for children or teens who are a bit rough on furniture. It couldn’t take the beating of a youngster.
zero quality control given
Purchased and once opened the box, there was sawdust sediment, etc and every piece had long scratches and scuffs. Emailed Prepac as per the manual and was advised they could not do anything as it shipped from Ontario and not their BC plant. To reach out to who I bought it from which was Walmart. Of course for them it was a "no problem, print the label, you'll here from the driver for pick up".... The parts are all out of their box as needed to take pictures for Prepac... I should not need to lug these items anywhere. Ugh... I cannot believe a product left a manufacturing plant at all in the state in which it came in. Obviously no one is doing quality control on what leaves the processing plants. And of course....no more available etc one that is almost twice the price now. Already purchased a black dresser as wanted a black bed. But expresso is available cheap. :S
Standard composite wood furniture. Advertised as expected.
Helpful tip: Always be ready to see damage/issues when ordering composite wood furniture. It's cheap for a reason. So despite having dents/tears on the shipping packaging, there was enough foam padding on the inside to prevent dents on the wood. What was a little disappointing though was the lack of any type of paper or SOMETHING between the boards to prevent scratches between the laminate during shipment. Most scratches were minor and it just happened that the most prominent scratch would be against the wall anyway, so it worked out. Directions were clear and accurate. Definitely use an electric drill if you have one. About 95% of the pieces came together smoothly. There was one pre-drilled hole that wasn't drilled deep enough that I had to address. And the channel that holds one of the shelf bottoms was cut extremely crooked, which fortunately I was able to fix myself as well. The support slats for the mattress honestly look like scrap plywood. Just be aware that they're not sanded at all, so the rough cuts and splinters will be an issue if you don't sand it yourself or put some layer of protection between the slats and your mattress. All in all, surprisingly sturdy construction for the price. Just be prepared for minor issues for that price tag.
Great guest room bed
We paid $239 for this bed so our review is based on that price. The bed was surprisingly easy to build the instructions were great the parts were for precision cut. March 24 to July 14,that's how long this bed lasted before falling apart. The lathes were too short and they kept coming out of the channel. Then the sides broke off from where they were screwed into. There is no fixing this! 5 months and I now have to buy another bed. For sure I will not be purchasing this one again. It maybe said it is manufactured board but I have other such particle beds in my home that are in good condition 4 years after purchasing. This bed is inferior and I would suggest careful thinking before spending hard earned money on it.
two bad pieces spoil what could be a good bed...
I'm so disappointed with this bed. My daughter was very excited to get this new bed after reading all the great reviews! It came in two separate boxes. We put together the drawers from the smaller box first. They were great, with real wood sides, looked very durable. We started putting together the main frame of the bed which was okay. But the center pieces were very crumbly, they shed a lot of small bits all over inside the box, and we got a few splinters stuck in our hands. When adding on a side piece, the center piece corner just cracked off! Need to replace now. It's sad, because most of the bed looks like good quality, except the two center pieces, making the whole bed worthless.
Good purchase for the price
This bed is perfect for my toddler's first big kid bed. I really like the storage element since his room is tiny. It was easy to put together but arrived in two boxes a day apart, which made assembly a little more complicated since we didn't realize until some piece were put together. I understand this is a less expensive bed so didn't expect high quality, however was disappointed that pieces were scratched during transit/delivery. Didn't realize until it was put together and not worth the time taking it apart to exchange. Overall happy with purchase for the price.
Awesome twin storage platform bed!
I have so much more space in my bedroom now. I ordered this when It was on sale on target.com, so I got a great buy. A family member encouraged me to get help putting it together from a neighbor. As a woman who can put together things on her own I said "no thanks" and took the time to put this together on my own. I just didn't pay enough attention to the picture in step 6C showing rails on both sides of the 6B boards. So, one side was tougher to put on after the bed was already put together. Altogether it was a lot of work. But, I love the storage bed. I gave my double bed and dresser away.
gorgeous bed for the money
Of course this bed had to be fully put together, but the directions were clear and all the parts needed were included. The bed is very sturdy and my son loves it. it's made where you don't need a box spring (only a mattress), but since we already had both, we put them on it. it sets the top of the bed pretty high, but since my son is tall for his age, he loves it that way. I will say that once you build the base for this bed, it better be where you want it, because it is very heavy and almost impossible to pick up and move over carpet. the drawers aren't very big, but they do hold a lot. A headboard would have been nice but we knew we weren't getting one when we bought it. I'd definitely buy this bed again.
Quality of the product is not good!
I bought a twin XL bed from Walmart. I got the boxes and it took me a bit longer time to assemble. Unfortunately, I found some of cracks started to appear while I tried to attach few parts with provided screws. Those cracks started to propagate once I proceeded more to join those parts completely/close the gap. Initially I thought that it could be an exceptional case.
It's quite well designed and thought thru, but.... A few quibbles: it needs some bottom glides for the floor. It would be nice if the whole thing were a few inches higher (and the drawers correspondingly deeper vertically. Also, why not make the drawers 4 to 6 inches deeper horizontally on the single sided model (there is significant wasted storage volume in back of the drawers. The little bolt anchors that the allen bolts go into on the ends, rails and inner supports do not fit snugly in their holes. This means that whenever you move one or more of the components, all the anchors fall out onto the floor and roll far away. If you are not going to adjust the bore size of the thru holes, then provide extra anchors, because I ended up losing one. It's a bargain.
Nice bed
My son outgrew his Miami Daybed that we got on Overstock a few years back so we were originally going to buy a full size bed but really didn't want him to lose so much floor space... a friend suggested a twin XL and when I checked Overstock I found this bed and ordered it. Came very quickly ( 3 days) and I put it together with just a couple of hiccups (mine though, not the bed!) It seems sturdy but I really do appreciate more than ever the way that IKEA packages their hardware. Sort it out before you start and things will go quicker. The bottom of the bed is unfinished particleboard and I didn't want to risk scratching floors so I bought some 90 degree angle self adhesive felt pads that we put on when we had the bed together enough to put it on its side. Took someone else's advise and screwed down the slats ( they are pretty rough) and then I happened to have some leftover click together laminate floor that I put down on top of the slats to give a little smoother surface and a little more support. I didn't have a problem with the drawers and they are flush and slide nicely. All and all, I think this will be fine for the next few years until he flies the coop.
