Planter pots
These planters are really good quality. I bought four in three different sizes. Used one for a dyi solar fountain. Perfect! The larger ones will be used as planter pots.
Plants drown in this planter
The design of this "self watering" planter does not allow excess water to drain at the bottom of the planter. When it rained a lot, the planters became water logged and I had to drill holes in the bottoms to drain the excess water. I would not recommend this item.
Not really self watering.. No reservoir to fill
Self watering means too much water can rot plant roots. There is no way to drain excess water Accept to tip the pot on its side.I just decided to drill out the holes on the bottom. I suppose you could drill a hole On the side of the pot to allow any extra an way to escape.
Self watering is a misnomer.
There is very small reservoir in the bottom of the pot to hold water and no drainage holes. There was no way to tell how much water was enough, so I overwatered and killed two beautiful bougainvilleas. Perhaps I should have realized this would happen, but I still wouldn't have known how much water to use. I am throwing out the dead plants and drilling holes in the bottom of the two containers before purchasing new plants.
Well Designed
I put bedding plants right in these pots. There's a little shelf at the bottom that allows the plants to drain but also allows for a reservoir of excess water. So it keeps the plant safer from drying out and makes for less watering frequency.
I prefer pots the color of nature. This green is perfect! I also like the fact that it is not so heavy to move pots around. The only weight is the dirt, really, as pot and the plant are small percent. Works well with yard greenery colors. Some pots are weird green. This is color of nature. Lasts well so far.
Very Nice Planter!
Very nice and good quality. Shipping was fast and the pot was well packed with lots of padding. I really like these evaporative pots. I haven’t potted a plant in it yet but it will be joining two other similar pots in my yard.
these pots are exactly what I was looking for!...I used an entire six pack of white petunias for one pot. They look fabulous in the green pots. Being such large pots can use a lot of potting soil. I used about 4 inches of styrofoam packing peanuts in the bottom, a thin layer of landscape cloth on top of the peanuts, then the potting soil. You don't use quite so much soil AND the pots are a bit lighter to move. Try them! You won't be disappointed...
Bloem Pots are the Best!
The quality of Bloem products is excellent. I purchased 12" pots. The plastic is thick/strong enough to hold 6 petunias and wet dirt without getting too heavy. I have also purchased the 8" and 10" pots in the past. Bloem pots are my go-to pots for my small bedding plant business. The inner liner that helps prevent under-watering and over-watering is a great feature also.
Nice pots
Not a whole lot you can go into detail about with flower pots. They are pretty standard. They have a nice rounded shape and are sturdy. The color is nice. All 3 are the same size & the same color. They also nest together for easy storage. In the bottom of each is a plastic spacer which keeps the dirt about a half inch above the bottom of the pot and creates a small resivoir for wather.
Cute pots
Cute potsThese are nice size for plants. If you want to save space but still make everything look good then this is perfect. These are good sturdy little planters, just the right size for growing your own herbs. They look surprisingly good for plastic. Color options would be an improvement there. There is no drainage hole, but one can be easily drilled. And best of all, they are Made in the U.S.A.
Plant pot set
This is a pretty nice product to start off plants in or to use for a smaller plant. It does have some good features that can help with drainage or to help contain water without rotting out the roots of your plants. It has knock outs at the bottom of the base to remove extra water and also has a plastic screen to help keep dirt from falling out of the knock outs or to separate dirt and water at the bottom to store water for the plant to use as it needs. The main thing that I didn’t like very much about this product is that it is very thin plastic and very plain.
Simple planters that help prevent root rot
The Ariana Planter is in a muted "Burnt Red" Color. They come in a bundle of three exact same planters. They are 6 inch planters, small, but will be great for herbs, flowers, starter plants etc. We will be using them for herbs. The part on the bottom can be turned for the water to flow out or not. That part in the bottom will hold water below and help to prevent root rot.
Perfect size
We collect plants and love them and have all kinds of pots. These pots are nice for little plants. The bottom has a small plastic plate that can be removed if needs and snaps in place. This allows water to seat under the plant for drainage so the plant doesn’t drown. We usually just plant the plant in our holders using fine grow dirt and the bottom plate is great for root growth on small plants.
Good value, pleased with purchase.
I like them. I already have 4, I bought last year.Tall enough to protect veggies and flowers from rabbits. I use them for tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and marigolds. Due to winter, I have put them away in late November to protect from snow and ice.Furthermore, I also used caster wheel saucer pans for ease of moving them since they get heavy when full.
Roomy Planter
Nice planters. A lot fits in. Using it for supplemental vegetables/herbs. Already had 4. Had to drill some holes on the bottom. I did four holes on the sides 1/2" from the bottom. Seems to be working out. Be nice if they were cheaper, but, the pricing was competitive with other stores.
NOT self watering
These pots are NOT self watering they are a sealed plastic pot with a raised insert in the bottom. A self watering pot has a separate water reservoir that you can access from outside the pot to add water or just check the water level. This is just a sealed plastic pot so if you want it to drain you must drill holes in the bottom just like any other pot. I have no idea why they call this self watering.
"Just Fine" quality for a huge pot at a decent price.
It's big, it's colorful, it holds plants. These pots are made from pretty thin material, and flex ominously when you heft them around empty. I don't suppose it's intended to be an heirloom quality part, and I don't expect they'll last forever, but it's hard to find anything of comparable size for anything like this price. They do have that 'basement water reservoir' feature, if you're into that kind of thing. I'm not sure that really helps anything other than draining excess water a bit more quickly if you're a little heavy handed with the watering can.
Buy them before they sell out in the spring,
We fill these with Miracle Gro Moisture Control Potting Soil to grow flowers, vegetables, and herbs on our patio. The voracious rabbits kept devouring our in-ground garden, and we had given up for a couple of years. We didn't want to harm any wildlife in our yard. Then we went to container gardening. For some reason the rabbits leave our plants alone in the containers. They work great and they are a nice size. I tried to punch out the drain hole in the bottom with 2 different awls and the bottom of the pots started to crack. I used a pocket knife to carve out drain hole without any difficulty.
Three in a row looking very nice under the window.
Took a chance and bought 3 that are "chocolate" colored . Not dark brown but a nice medium that compliments other browns on my patio. I was mostly interested in trying these because I didn't want to deal with water coming out the bottom on the patio location I need them to be. They are big pots and I considered putting plastic bottles on the bottom but decided not to because I think the soil will wick the water and it will be easier for plant roots to find it. Time will tell if I'm right. Not partial to plastic pots but these are nice looking and thick enough that they won't dry out too quick. I'm on the Overstock web site today to consider buying more of these.
