Just don't

Will never use this product again, probably any other bona products again. Thats how bad this product is.. streaks and looks milky on medium dark floor. Might be different for your floors but I wouldn't even risk trying it. and i have used other floor restorer products with successfull results. The clean up that I am currently under going is a nightmare.

Do NOT buy this!

I thought our floors needed a little refresh. We have 10 year old walnut wood floors. I moved all the furniture, thoroughly cleaned the floors with Bona cleaner, the closely followed the directions and how to apply. And… my floors look horrible! Now I have to try and remove this polish (sounds like it will take a lot of hard work and may or may not work) or spend thousands of dollars to have my floors refinished. I called 2 different wood flooring companies - said don’t use this stuff!

There are no directions on the bottle, only a caution. The caution fails to include not to expect the gloss produced by the second bottle you buy to match the gloss produced by the first bottle you buy. At least there is a way to remove the product from your floors if you have lots of time and energy.

DO NOT BUY!!!!!

This will leave a milky residue on you floor. Now I have to buy polish remover and scrub it off and hope it will return my floors to previous appearance. My wife is frantically upset. There has to be a lawsuit regarding this product. Save yourself the hassle and buy another brand.

Great on Bamboo Flooring

I probably wouldn’t have bought this product if I had read the reviews here first, so I’m glad I didn’t see them. I had used the Bona, high gloss polish on my bamboo floors and didn’t like the way it accentuated the dents and scratches. I’m now using the low gloss and love it. The floor looks very nice, with a clear matte finish, exactly what I was hoping for.

I have used several different floor polishes, Orange Glow, Rejuvenate, Weiman, etc. over the 25 years I've lived in my current home. The price of Bona is 2 to 3 times more than these others I mentioned, however, the Bona does not seem to hold up any better (maybe worse). I properly applied Bona, low gloss, polish 3 days ago. The high traffic area is already wearing off and needs to be re-done. Where there is no foot traffic, for example under tables and next to walls, it looks very good. However, for a lot more money, it is no more durable than the others.

Horrible Bona floor cleaner

Just installed new laminate flooring. I was hoping Bona Floor Cleaner would be the best option but boy was I wrong- wish I read reviews before buying- I see many others very unhappy with Bona. PROBLEM- Leaves a horrible layer of film residue & streaks on floor. Bona website front page says this: “Key benefits”

Buy enough to finish whole job and what needed for future!

bona has repeatedly changed their formulation. What previously had low gloss is now matte finish. I ordered same bar code and package label but shine is different. Bona representative told me to redo the larger part of already completed work with new product in matte. Not customer considerate!

We've been struggling with keeping our matt-finished hardwood floors relatively free of skid marks and scratches from our dog's claws. We've tried other products without much success. This product, on the other hand, delivered! Remarkably, all the scratch marks were rendered invisible! The skid marks also faded away. I don't know if this had anything to do with the fact that we had used Bona water-based poly when we finished our floors a couple of years back.Regardless, it works and it's certainly worth a try!

Have used these products in our previous home with excellent results. Have finished our new downsizing house and had trees milled from trees on our land for our white oak hardwood floors! Chose the Bona cleaning solution for our hardwoods and low gloss polish for our desired finish. Looks great!

Bad reviews are real but applied wrong

Had a small area where I'd damaged the matte finish. From the top the area it looked good but from the side it looked like a hazy blob.

I've used this product before and was happy with it. Now a year later I was going to polish the floor and use what was left in the same bottle but I knew I needed more. I looked to see if it was in stock at my store and noticed the reviews. I started reading some of them and thought the bad reviews were posted by people that didn't know what they were doing. I picked up my new bottle, returned home and started polishing the floors. I was shocked that what was in the bottle from last year and worked excellent now put a white haze on the floor (see photo). I opened the new bottle I purchased this morning and did quite a bit more of the floor. Same issue, I had a white haze all over the floor. I thought maybe it will clear up once it dries thoroughly. I waited 2 hours and decided I had the same issue as other people were complaining about. I did try calling customer support but was told to call back in 2.5 hours since everyone was in a meeting. Gee, I wish they would have taken my number and called me back. Now I had to get it off the floor. I thought I would have been done by 11 a.m. with the floors. It took me until 5 p.m. to get the floors back in shape to apply a different brand polish (which worked great).

I had my natural non stained hardwood oak floors sanded and finished about 10 months ago (I asked the floor contractor what he used then-and he used Bona Mega- satin finish water based on the floors when he refinished them) . They were in good shape , but there were some small scratches when the light hits it and you looked at a certain angle- and they got a bit dull- even with cleaning- especially in the high traffic areas in the kitchen. I really like the flat finish and did not want to 'shine' the floors to a gloss, but I wanted to make them look "new" again. I was nervous based on reviews of this product, but since I knew the floors were finished with a Bona product, my bet was it would work well. I am really pleased with the results. My floors look much improved and very small scratches that you could see when the light reflected against the floor are gone or minimized. Floors look much improved and it was so easy. I will do this again in another few months.

Looks Like Something Has Changed

I purchased a bottle of this polish in January 2015, using it on almost 60-year-old hardwood flooring. It's quick, easy to use and the results for the last 3½ years have always been great. Having used almost all of it, I purchased another bottle yesterday and *then* decided to read these reviews. Looking at the timeline and all of these negative comments has led me to believe that Bona may have altered their recipe about a year ago. A few bad reviews here and there are to be expected, but, to me, this is overwhelming evidence that something is wrong with the product and is not being corrected. Three-plus years ago the Bona Polish was great, but today, I'm not so sure. I will be returning the unopened bottle for a refund because I'm afraid to try this new stuff.

I wish I had searched for more reviews sooner. I'm now suspicious that many of the positive reviews were planted by Bona. Search for other people's experiences with Bona polish before you choose to put it on your floors.

Bought this at our local Home Depot, thinking that our engineered wood floors could use a little bit of sheen and maybe protection. We've used the Bona Wood floor Cleaner and it's worked just fine so far, so I picked up the low-gloss polish and didn't think twice about it. I read the instructions on the bottle and started in a small area. The little area looked pretty good - so I continued on and covered about 150 or so sq. feet and then stopped. When it dried, and I got a good look at the floor from another angle, I realized it was covered in murky milky film. Not polished. Then I saw the reviews. I NEVER jump into things like this without checking reviews! ugh. I trusted this brand and the word of my hardwood installer, but this looks terrible. Bona sells a remover and some special pad for the Bona mop to go with it - but they don't sell that at retail stores, apparently. In researching this online, I also found numerous people who have reported good luck with using a mixture of ammonia and water - which is exactly what WINDEX is. I went with a little bit of windex and a very soft microfiber cloth - and it is coming up. Thank goodness. Nothing like extra work. :(

Set the record straight.

I recently used this product to improve the appearance of our 22 year old engineered hardwood floor. After reading the poor reviews I was concerned and actually went to our Bona dealer to ask about using restore instead of the polish. They were out of the restore and could not have any more in till the next week. We were going out of town for the weekend and the floor would have 4 days to cure with zero traffic. So I bit the bullet and used the polish. Before I did use the polish I spent 4 evenings on my hands and knees with the Bona cleaner and several clean rags making sure the floor was as clean as possible. I was amazed how dirty the floor actually was seeing we clean it weekly with the cleaner and the Bona microfiber mop thing. Early in the morning I put down a layer of the polish and worked my way out of the house, and didn't return till 4 days later so I didn't have a clue to what the results would be. When we walked in we were amazed at the new beauty we saw. Heavy traffic areas looked wonderful and extra low traffic areas you couldn't tell the difference without looking extra hard against a taped off area. We ran out of room to move things around and have to do the dining room area in the next week or two. So we taped off a line at a joint in the wood. I would definitely recommend using this product. Our floor is 22 years old, 3 boys and 3 dogs and lots of company and this Mannington floor is almost as good looking now as it was new. Of course there are dings and some scratches that would require a complete resurfacing that are still there, but 99 percent great again.

Horrible Product

Never put this floor polish on your hardwood floors!!! We put this on over 1400 sq ft of hardwood in our house hoping that it would fill in some very minor scratches. Biggest mistake we have ever made! It did fill in the scratches but it turned out very cloudy and scuffed very easily leaving dull patches all over the floor.
