This is 2nd one. The first one only lasted 18 months. One of the top fittings started leaking. I’m trying another one since I like having the instant hot water so much!
2.5 Gallon Bosch electric water heater
My company has purchased a number of these units in the past few years, more than 6. They provide hot water to humidification units. These units DO NOT last long. They either start to leak or the anode rod wears out completely within a year or so. (see anode rod pic). Interestingly... Home Depot's warranty is 5 years... but the box indicates 6 years. If you buy these... purchasing the warranty is a must... or move on to another manufacturer.
Does not make enough hot water. The water is hot for a very short time. I could not even fill the sink with enough hot water for dishes.
Priced Right!!!!
Excellent under cabinet water heater provides immediate hot water. The price that Lowe’s posted was incredibly reasonable, as much as $150.00 lower than other suppliers. Quick to ship. Very satisfied!
Great product at the best price
Finally, virtually instant hot water. This water heater solves my issue of not having hot water in our upstairs bathroom but without the long wait. Lowes offers this highly rated mini hot water heater at a lower price than the competition. Check the other’s prices before your purchase.
Leaks within 4 years
Leaks within 4 years but Bosch does not honor the warranty claim. I have sent the unit along with all the necessary receipts and information to BTC at Bosch, Thermotechnology Corp., 50 Wentworth Avenue, Londonderry, NH 03053 per the warranty claim instructions but have not heard back from them after 2.5 months.
The Bosch mini-electric water heater was...
The Bosch mini-electric water heater was fairly simple to install and works well. Hot water goes from the water heater to the tap in two or three seconds.
Waste of time.
Do not waste your time and money. This was the second unit to fail in almost 4 years. Junk.
It's only been running for a week , but no problem
It's the right size for my shop. Hook up was simple and worked within minutes to have the water hot
DO NOT BUY THIS
It worked at first but after a while the pressure relief valve began leaking in a constant flow from the heater. A replacement relief valve like the one in the heater was not available locally so I had to buy one at an overpriced amount from Bosch. It was bad from the start, it experienced a loud air hammer and after consulting customer support I got three different explanations none of which was effective. Bosch won't do anything about it, very poor support.
The installation was easy. Nice to have hot water at source. The temperature isn't super consistent. Sometimes bang-on, sometimes luke-warm.
Made my wife very happy. We now have hot water in our downstairs bathroom. Great product.
Hottest setting is just that …. Very hot
Water is like instant hot. Installed it under my kitchen sink.
Lasted exactly 4 years before element shorted out.
4 years only gets 4 stars from me. I read the average lifespan of this model was 5 years. The replacement heater element was listed for $90 so I opted to purchase the same model for ease of swapping out rather than changing the element myself or paying even more to have a plumber install it. I hope this second one lasts for at least 5 years. It does pay for itself quickly with the water you save when running water from the main heater to get hot enough to wash dishes.
My order was delivered very quickly. This unit was easy to install and ready to use in a short period of time. Under sink on demand hot water is the way to go, especially if you like to be water conservative.
This purchase was to replace the same device that died. So that means that I should give the Bosch point-of-use water heater a low grade, but the opposite is true. First: the benefit--hot water at our kitchen sink almost instantaneously--is priceless. Second: we failed to do the annual maintenance that I didn’t even know was required. So yep - it failed. Since I now had a broken machine, I tried following the instructions to clean the anode. It’s do-able, even easy once you practice on a broken machine, but a plumber would have charged us a few hundred to come out and do it. And it’s an annual recommendation. So getting 5-6 years from the original device was a bargain, and now that I’ve practiced on my dead Bosch, let’s see how long I can keep this water heater working! Five stars!
I bought this to replace one that looks exactly the same that was more than 10 years old so I have faith it will last a long time. It heats quickly, but there is quite a large temperature drop before it heats again. I've had it a few weeks.
This is my 3rd Bosch 2.5 gal heater. They seem to last between 3-5 years before beginning to leak. I have 2 of them below the sink (kitchen/mstr bath) that provide instant hot water without running the water for almost a minute for the hot to reach these sinks (farthest from the main heater). They are a great convenience. Too bad they don't last longer. But I've gotten pretty good at swapping them out, when they fail. Keep a tray underneath them or the leak can destroy your cabinet. I also have an inexpensive water alarm (battery operated) to let you know if there is a leak.
Easy install and operation
Easy install and convenient plug-in option in case I ever have to move it. I hung this from the ceiling in my garage as there wasn't enough room under the sink. It's as close to instant hot water as you can get. My kitchen is at the end of the hot water run so this is my booster until hot water from the main unit catches up. Highly recommend
Good product. Be aware that if you use NPT and teflon tape, you need plenty of tape. The thread seems to be between types to handle either NPT tapered thread and also capable of straight thread with washer.for faucet hoses.
