I ordered the Prime-line, 1 3/4" thick brass door reinforcer to hide damage to the door surface around a brass deadbolt. The steel-clad door had unattractive pry marks from an attempted break-in. There was some confusion with the online description saying "recesse", so I called online help to ask about that. The reinforcer is not recessed, as the description implied, which was fine, since I didn't want that. Another brass reinforcer was available online from Home Depot, at a higher price, but this one seems to be of good quality and the finish screws all look attractive. My handyman had it installed in a short time. Since my door fits snugly, I asked him to chisel the wooden edge of the door to fit the brass sleeve flush with the surface, so it closed easily. The door damage is now covered and the brass plate is not commercial-looking, as I feared it might. The door is greatly improved in appearance and the brass finish matches the Kwikset deadbolt. It's an exterior Stanley door, so this saved the expense of replacing it just for appearance. I've had it on a week and my friends have remarked how it improved the appearance so much.
