Planned obsolescence

This is a pretty functional product and very easy to replace. But I have now owned about 5 of them and have to replace them once a year when the spring wears out. As far as I can tell, there is no cheaper option to fix it than paying for an entire new latch.

Some flaws

This is my 3rd in 6 years. Too expensive to have to replace so often. Spring in handle broke on every one after about 2 years so handle sticks downward & doesn't latch. Because spring mechanism isn't smooth {see other reviews about that} the handle sticks in open position. So lever doesn't drop into the latch, causing door to open & slam w wind unless you manual turn handle horizontal. Also had to grind down the lever on handle part so it wouldn't rub on door frame. Way to much modication for $

Exact Match for Existing Screen Door Handle

I purchased this as a replacement for my screen door that had a broken handle spring. Installation was straight forward and took 15 minutes. The spring in the handle is very light weight. It could be stronger. I had to loosen the mounting screws get the handle to spring back to the neutral position.

Well built but won't last long.

Well built but doesn't last, this is my 3rd latch in 7 years. The internal spring that holds the latch in the center position breaks and is not repairable from what I can tell. It's not overly expensive, so I just figure I'll buy another one in a couple years...
