Nice machine

I ordered this Brother machine as I wanted an all metal machine but it seems the casing is actually plastic. Otherwise the machine is fine plus it uses the same feet, power cord and foot pedal as the old Brother machine I had. One reason I bought this one also is because the accessories would fit the new one.

Too Many Instructions

This was my first Brother sewing machine I had purchased. The screwdriver and screw to remove the needle was impossible to do. The instruction booklet was much too involved with the different languages and the quick guide was too busy to follow all the numbered areas to go through. I decided to return this product and buy from a company that I have a sewing machine for many years and have always appreciated the instruction booklets they came with. This machine is not for everyone. Thank you in advance.

Excellent Sewing Machine, But Returned

I LOVE Brother sewing machines. My old one is 35 years old! I really liked this sewing machine, but quickly realized it was too complex for me. I returned it and ordered a simpler Brother sewing machine. The NEEDLE THREADER on both machines is not easy to use, and the illustration is so small, I could not follow it. Therefore, I manually thread the needle with great difficulty.

Nice little machine.

Machine sews good but I have a problem with the needle unthreading. I thread the top and bobbin thread and it’ll sew for awhile and then it’s unthreaded. It’s easy to rethread with the automatic threader but it is annoying.

Beautiful machine!!

Thought I was getting in over my head with a computerized machine. This machine is anything but complicated. The manual is set up so it’s easy to use and understand. The stitch selector is soooo easy to read and use.

As Described except for the hard cover

The cover is not hard as you would expect as with the older machines but it is acceptable and yes it does have a Styrofoam insert. I believe Brother sells the complete hard cover with attached bottom, this does not have the attached bottom the cover has and opening for carrying purposes which lines up with the opening on the machine for carrying. As for instructions, at first i was disappointed in the "little" instruction booklet that was taped to the machine but then I found the complete (in English) instruction booklet in plastic wrap in the box, clear and acceptable. I tested the machine to make sure the power worked. I have not used it to sew anything yet but I am not expecting any issues. Going to register the machine now with Brother in case of future issues.

Pros and Cons

This sewing machine works well and does what it's supposed to do. My observations are mainly subjective. It is light-weight. That can be a plus and and negative. It's good because it's easier to carry. But it has a "chintzy" feel to it. Everything is plastic and it doesn't feel as "solid" as my former machine. Also, every machine makes noise when you sew, but the sounds this one makes is "rickety". Sorry, can't think of another word for it. It's not a solid sewing machine noise. It's higher pitched and sounds like it might fall apart at any minute. But, like I said, so far it does what it is supposed to do. I've made three quilts on it so far and other projects as well. The price was right and, overall, I'm satisfied with my purchase.

Light weight but everything you need.

I bought this little machine mostly because I intend to go to more quilting/sewing classes and I couldn’t imagine hauling around my big heavy machines. I brought it with me the first time this past weekend. Everyone else was complaining bitterly about having to haul their huge heavy fancy machines around. I lifted this up with one hand out of the carrying case, and plopped it on the table. It worked spectacularly the whole time, super easy to use. I haven’t used any of the embroidery stitches, but it’s so nice to know they’re there. It’s got everything I need for a very reasonable price. I’m quite happy!

This machine is amazing! It survives anything!

I got this machine almost 2 years ago, did not even have a clue how to use a sewing machine. I just knew I wanted and we were all bored because of the COVID quarantine. I thought about getting a less expensive one because it was my first one but even though I kept adding others to my cart I never would hit the pay button. I wanted the Brother cs7000i and I wasn't going to commit until I talked myself into it. I have not regretted that decision yet and honestly I don't think I ever will. This machine is truly amazing and it just keeps working. First, my daughter spilled red cool aid all over it and only cleaned up what was visible so I didn't know it had happened until well over a week later. It had sat in a puddle that had thickened and it was a disgusting sticky mess. I cleaned it well, oiled it, and never had a problem with it. Then it got knocked off the table somehow and broke the bobbin winder completely but I ordered one and it was quite simple to replace, no problems. Everyone knew how much I love this machine! Well, I was going through a breakup recently and had not moved all of my things out of the house yet so one night when my ex realized it was still there he drilled holes through it with a DeWalt 20volt drill. When I saw it I was distraught, heartbroken, and frankly very angry. He calmed down and was apologetic and offered to buy me a new one but I declined because I shouldn't need a new one as I already had one that I love. I never thought for a second it would still work so I left it there. Then when I was there getting some of my things out of the house I started messing with it and after removing some loose plastic from inside it where he had broken it I was amazed to find it still worked perfectly. I wasn't able to take it with me that day but I hadn't told anyone it worked so it should be ok if I get it tomorrow. When he got home he saw the machine had moved and the table had clearly been used so he figured I had gotten it to work so he attacked it with a machete. It looks pitiful, I won't lie but even though the display doesn't work so I have to count the stitches to know which one I'm on as I press the buttons, this machine still works! I am so amazed that it does anything with what it has been through but I use it all the time. It has one spot where the plastic is broken that causes it to knot the thread if I sew at full speed but otherwise it works perfectly. It looks so bad but it works. I love this machine and would recommend it to anyone anytime anywhere! Amazing I will be getting a new one hopefully in one week and I'll be buying this exact same machine!

Brother CS7000Z

This is the worst sewing machine I've ever owned. It's a cheap piece of junk. Of course, you get what you pay for. Having come off my sturdy, wonderful Bernina to this, I was in shock at the poor quality. The LCD display should be lit as it's practically impossible to see anything. Threading is a chore, and the automatic threader rarely works and is more trouble than it's worth. Installing the walking foot was a nightmare as there were too many things to dismantle. My Bernina walking foot just snapped on. I don't have very large hands, but there is very little working space, and my hands barely had any room. I plan to donate this foreign made junk and purchase another Bernina. You can't beat Swiss workmanship. Brother, you need to step up your game and produce quality.

Don't be afraid of digital machine

Watching the videos and looking at the diagrams, plus reading the manual (yay for a printed manual!) really helps with any confusion about how to thread the machine, etc. I watched them all, even the ones that I don't expect to need. Thanks so much for providing those! The speed control helps me make sure I don't sew faster than my ability when doing something new. I've tried some of the fancy stitches and buttonholes, and I really love them. I wasn't sure about the digital aspect - I'm old school and used to dials and buttons - but I'm not having any trouble at all. Just be sure to use the "needle up" when changing thread so the needle-threader is in the correct spot.

LOVE IT !!

When my old Brother machine finally succumbed to old age, it was time for a new one. I did a lot of research about many different brands. I just wanted a simple machine that was easy to use. I LOVE this machine!! I was in the middle of a quilt when my old one was done. I literally took it out of the box, reviewed the set up, and started sewing. There are of course things to relearn, like the back stitch. But I actually like it. I have more control of it than before. I sat down one day and started playing with the different stitches and familiarized my self with it. I love it. I would definately recommend it.

Would not buy again.

Machine bought to use while visiting relative. Makes a good, reliable stitch. Light weight, can carry with ease. The automatic threader will thread off & on. The extended table, is not level. Very inexpensive grade of plastic used. I imagine I am spoiled by my regular machines but, for the cost, expected a bit more sturdiness in the actual machine. I would nit suggest sewing anything other than 2 fabrics together. Definitely would need feel comfortable using the walking foot to quilt the sandwich together.

I love this machine, except for one thing

This is a great machine. I love that the bobbin is just a drop in and you don’t have to pull the needle down to pull the thread up. Just begin sewing. Thank you for providing so many useful feet. I love the option to use the push button stop and start as opposed to the foot pedal. I can just set the automatic reverse to reinforce the beginning and ends of the stitches. There is so much to love about this machine…except one thing. As soon as I changed the needle, the needle threader stopped working. The new needle is installed correctly.

Don't be afraid, great machine!

Well it has been many, many years since I sewed on a sewing machine. The paper directions are OK, I was able to follow them somewhat but was very frustrated when setting up the machine and doing some practice stitches. The tension was off and I couldn't figure out where in the paper directions how to adjust it. Thank goodness they have the QR code on the front of the machine that allows you to pull up videos! If it wasn't for those I probably would have returned the machine!!! I was getting very frustrated and thought why did I buy this. I wanted to make Bread bags for gifts and didn't want to hand sew all of them. The sewing machine has been a life saver. I have given one bag already and my friend loves it. I have already decided to make some curtains for the living room and am brain storming other projects! Can't wait to do some more practicing to learn all of the other stitches available. I picked this machine as it is supposed to be a beginner machine but has many features and functions of a more advanced machine. I am sure as I continue practicing and sewing more it will be easier. My 17 yr old has also been wanting a sewing machine so I figured it was a good investment for the 2 of us....

best beginner Brother

This machine has more pros than cons, it is super smooth and quiet operating. Very easy to select stitches and tells you what foot you need to use. Automatic start and end stitch reinforce, no more hanging on reverse button! Light weight and comes with a load of goodies including a walking foot, extension table and hard cover and the light is bright and adequate. There is one thing i find annoying however and that is the LCD display is not backlit, so unless it has light falling on it, it is impossible to read, have to use a flashlight on it in the evening hours. The fact that you can sew without using the foot control is a plus for people with leg foot immobilities. If Brother can fix the dim LCD it would be a perfect machine to own.
