THIN! Be prepared to paint it!
This stuff is so thin that you can see the white caulk and the brown ceiling through it! If your ceiling was white to start with you might be OK or paint your ceiling white first this old house was brown and it bleeds through.
Bought these to cover a horrible damaged/bad patched ceiling in my Walk in closet. They went up super easy and look amazing! I am so very pleased with this purchase. I painted them with bright white ceiling paint and added crown moldings and they look like a real tin ceiling! I used wall paper glue to adhere them to the ceiling. I allowed for ample drying time, then painted. Just use a roller or paint brush gently as they can dent/crease as they are thin sheets of styrofoam.
Not as advertised
I wish I had better news on these tiles but unfortunately I don’t. It cost us 1600.00 to find out these tiles are not the same size and even if they were perfect they do not reduce the sound from upstairs condo. No difference at all. We still hear every footstep and ever noise made over our heads. It is a beautiful pattern inspite of all the tiles not being the same size and had to be trimmed and still they are not perfectly aligned. Thank goodness we like it because its not like you can take it down and return the tiles. We would have to do major work on the ceiling if we did that. Very disappointed. If you just want to make your ceiling look better I guess this would do. But if you want to reduce the noise above don’t waste your money.
I was looking for something for our small kitchen ceiling and these tiles looked like they would add some interest to the room. Since it’s a small room, the white tiles brighten it up. I’m not much of a DIYer but I was able to put them up all by myself! They’re easy to cut and after putting grout between the tiles and painting them, they look great. You do have to be careful not to hit the ceiling since they do dent or get holes.
3d look added some charm to my bland livingdining room
These tiles are very easy to work with; they're very lightweight, cut easily and take paint very well. I know most people put them on their ceilings, but I thought I'd try gluing them onto an outside door's panels and gave them three coats of semi-gloss exterior paint. The end result is that you cannot tell that these are polystyrene--it looks like the door was "carved" that way. The result is a 5-Star recommendation.

Hi, I’ve been purchasing product from Decorative Ceiling Tiles for a few years now. I like the product & theirs reasonable prices. I’ve done so many projects using their product/company. They have very good customer service & always have time to explain the differences between the materials. I give 3 thumbs up to Decorative Ceiling Tiles & wouldn’t use any other company. Thanks Decorative Ceiling Tile & staff.
[Rewarded Review] Easy and inexpensive update for ceiling
I am a 66 yr old woman who enjoys DIY projects. I purchased a 45 year old condo last year and have been researching options to cover my cracked, sad kitchen ceiling. I purchased 3 samples and selected my final choice. The tiles arrived I a few days later and I installed in a day. Once trimmed & painted out you would never know they're styrofoam. I've shared photos of my project and this website with everyone I know who are looking to update ceilings.

AmAzInG!
Where do I begin, we had a rough ceiling to cover in the tiny spare bath. Every Google search on ceiling tiles kept bringing up Decorative Ceiling Tiles and reading the reviews and watching the "how to" videos we decided to try it... oh my, we are so glad we did... first, our order showed fast, I mean super quickly which was a huge bonus. Home Depot was at leat a 20-day wait for a special order and we were in the middle of the project, who wants to wait that long?! Second, they really are easy to install. I am the first to admit, we are not handy people, but we did it based on the video on their website. It really IS as easy as it looks. Finslly, the tiles look amazing, in love with the ceiling, so in love our master bath is next! Cannot recommend Decorative Ceiling Tiles enough.
Excellent Solution for an Old Ceiling!
We have a 100+ year old home with a small den wihch we use as an office. It has nice dark wood and is very attractive room. We have never liked its ceiling, however, who someone remodeled probably in the 50's to add 1 foot square acoustic tiles. I agonized how to improve the ceiling from an appearance point of view, considering many options. All had drawbacks since I wanted a relatively quick solution with no tearout if it could be avoided. I discovered this styrofoam ceiling tile option at a big box store, but they were special order. So, after looking on line, I found the excellent assortment offered by Decorative Ceiliong Tiles. We chose the prepainted bronze color option, ordered some samples, and were pleasantly surprised with the product. I measured the ceiling and ordered enough with a little extra. While I a very experienced home remodeler, this is a job that anyone can do yourself. The most effort involved was taking down the existing ceiling fan and reinstalling it afterwards.Once could also install around the existing fan base, but I wanted the best installation I could obtain, so I elected to take the fan down first. My ceiling was relatively square for an old house so I did not have to do a lot of cutting, but where I did it was easy with a fresh razor knife, a flat surface with cardboard underneath, a good straight edge, and a good tape measure. In my case, starting at one edge of the ceiling worked out well for me in terms of spacing, so that is what I did. I used tubes of Loctite's fast drying adhesive as recommended and a caulk gun, and the tiles went up easily with just enough time before they began to really adhere to position them as needed. Use a ladder that is the correct height, even if you have to buy one if you do not have one, and it makes working over your head a lot easier. One that is either too high or too low makes the job more difficult. I will at some point provide pictures of various stages of the job, but it turned out great. We added a stained glass torchiere floor lamp and the ceiling has a very pleasing soft glow at night. Customer service was fanatastic and very helpful when I had a question regarding the adhesive. I highly recommend this company and this product and will not hesitate to use it again. While the main purpose is for ceiling use, one could easily envision using it for decorative wall use as well, especially in combination with other media.
Bye-bye swirly 1970's ceiling
My house was built in the mid-1970s, so I have the iconic “swirly” plaster pattern on the majority of my ceilings. I knocked the wall down that separated our kitchen from our unused formal dining room. This venture left us with two different ceiling textures, until I found Decorative Ceiling Tiles. Recently, I put up the R82 Circles and Stars styrofoam tiles. It took me about 10 hours, not only have them installed, but also have the seams caulked and light fixtures back in place. They married the two ceilings together flawlessly. Though they looked great unpainted, I opted to paint them a high gloss paint to make them look more like authentic tin. I am thrilled with the results. Not only was it a simple installation, it is cost effective, and a classy solution to my construction hurdle.
