I know how to measure, and this item seemed a tad but too small for a small entryway/foyer, but prefect for a hallway, like you would find near bedrooms. Better suited for 8ft ceilings. Beware tho, this light cannot be turned. The location of the screw holes in the ceiling is the direction it will install and cannot be rotated. With this info in mind, I wouldn't purchase again.
