The top does not stay on. I had to modify it myself by glueing plastic to slide into the base unit to get it to work.
Compact trash/recycling
If you’re looking for a compact trash and recycling station, this is for you! Other reviews mention a kid that doesn’t stay on...I haven’t noticed this issue. As long as the bins are placed properly into the stainless steel frame, this little can hold the lid very well.
I really like this trash recycling bin set. It fits perfectly in my tiny kitchen and easy to empty. Holds more than you’d expect from the small size. Highly recommended.

Great lil Trash Can
Can be used as a single or a double can (just take out the extra boxes) for more space. Great lil trash can for my tiny kitchen in the upper east side of NY. Its super sleek too!

I love this classy looking double sided trash/recycling bin. It’s size is perfect - nottoo bulky but big enough to hold a lot. It fits perfectly next to my paper shredder. Very sturdy, too. I love the open removable top.
