5 ft x 5 ft corner desk w hutch
this desk is absolutely fabulous. i love it. i bought the white with grey top. hutch holds so much of my knickknacks and office equipment. i do crafts and sewing the drawer has so much room for pens pencils etc. the door cabinet hold my sewing machine and other equipment looks so great. i added a light to the hutch can’t say enough good about this desk
This is one of those items of 'You get what you pay for'. It looks nice from a distance, but I could not tell from the online photos that there is actually a "distressed" look within the paint. There's not much, but just know that it is not a solid gray; there's some streaking. The listing says that you can orient this to the left hand or right hand, but it really needs to be oriented the way the listing shows, otherwise the part that is hammered in to the back of the cabinet will show, and it is not a nice finished look. The inner "L" angle where the two surface meet is rather weak, so to reiterate, you get what you pay for. Oh and my item arrived damaged right on the outer corner of the writing surface. Assembly was pretty straightforward. I did like that each step had the parts in its own package that was labeled to the corresponding step.
This product probably should receive four stars because there are many many pieces. The quality of the particle board is consistent with what I paid. It looks nice but, you have to be extremely careful taking it out of the box. I'm not sure how long this will last and I probably will get a desk blotter because my fear is that the surfaces will scratch. All that being said, the nuts and bolts were very well labeled into little packages for each step. Some of the illustrations were a bit difficult, for instance, one piece had a place for 4 doweling rods and we were forced to guess which two were supposed to be inserted for that particular step. It took two people approximately two hours to assemble, and some harsh words and differences of opinion. What helped was carefully unpacking and removing all of the cardboard boxing and styrofoam, organizing the pieces for the order of steps. Not quite five stars because of the multitude of pieces, and the quality of the components. However, deserves more than 4 stars in my opinion because it was very inexpensive, and although time-consuming, it's not that difficult to assemble if you have a power screwdriver. I will be careful with it so hopefully it will last. We also purchased the file cabinet and bookcase but have not assembled those. It was a bit smaller than I expected, but the measurements are listed in the description so perhaps take a measuring tape and map out your space to see if it will suit your needs. I plan on putting the filing cabinet at the end of the desk to act as an extension so that I can put my printer on top of that. I may add some small L brackets on the inside and run a small shallow shelf on the inside back for a little more storage. Also, I'm going to have to drill a hole for my computer cables. The plastic covers that go inside the holes are available through a simple internet search. I will make sure to use masking tape around where I want the hole to go, prior to drilling, so hopefully it will not break up the surface of the top too badly. I am posting pictures of the other sides of the desk because there are not a lot on here in the reviews.
This is a very nice desk. It couples well with its matching cabinet. Much care is required in assembling as it is made of MDF, but it is solid and looks good in my office. All of the pieces arrived undamaged and in good condition, assembly was not too difficult and the only reason I did not give this one 5 stars is because the braces they used to pull the 2 top pieces together (that join to form the "L" shape) did not close the gap as efficiently as I would have liked. One top piece is slightly uneven when butted up against the other. Other considerations such as the floor being slightly uneven or the board itself being somewhat warped may also be a factor. Nonetheless, it is minor, and the desk has plenty of space on top and underneath. The drawer glides in/out with ease. It all came together very well.
I ordered this for my home office. The color is true to the picture - not white but more like a cream. It was very easy to put together. The only problem I had was two of the pieces did not fit correctly because the holes were not drilled correctly. But I made a phone call to customer service and they shipped out two new pieces to me and I got them within a few days. Outside of that, this was super easy to put together. All pieces are labeled. The assembly manual is clearly written, with pictures of each piece. Each step shows exactly which piece to use, and the hardware for each step was separated in its own plastic bag with a label. I was able to assemble this completely on my own. It now holds a full size printer, docking station for my laptop, keyboard and large monitor and I still have plenty of workspace. This is a great size desk for a home office as it has a lot of space but still compact. And the color makes it fit well into most interiors.
Overall the desk and the assembly were as expected. I knew it was suggested to have at least 2 people put the thing together, but I did it myself so certain steps were more challenging. I also knew that the color wasn't "white" as others expected it to be (it's got a yellowish hue with flecks of dark grey - I assume to make it look 'antique white' - as I expected from the photos online) and knew I was getting what I was paying for in terms of quality (manufactured wood). First of all, the box was super heavy and considering the number of parts, that was to be expected. Everything was packaged securely with about a million pieces of Styrofoam. I wasn't missing any pieces and nothing arrived damaged. Instructions were clear and all the little screws and such were in individual baggies clearly labeled as to which step they belonged to. Thank goodness for that. I didn't run into any issues with solo assembly until putting the largest piece (top of the desk) in place. I couldn't get one side to line up correctly, but I'm thinking it was more due to the fact that I was doing this by myself than the parts/predrilled holes. Couple things I will note though - the drawer and door to the little cabinet make the desk look like it was someone's first day of workworking class. Even when I adjusted the drawer per the last step, the door and drawer don't line up evenly. Also, don't drag this desk along the floor like I did. After pushing it against a wall, some of the paint/wood chipped/flaked.
