Trash

This desk is trash and made of the weakest materials. It broke just from moving it because the corner leg is so incredibly weak and fragile that it bowed almost the entire time. Whoever engineered this should be ashamed of their clear ineptitude at design. Absolutely worthless.

Sturdy and beautiful, but confusing to put together. I purchased 2 for my husband and my home office. A few holes were drilled wrong but I made it work. Also missing one panel and have a call into customer service. It will look amazing when it's finally all done.

Purchased for my home office. Obviously you need lots of space. I purchased this brand in the past and was very pleased with its durability. Will take a few hours to put it together and you will need someone to help you at some point but it's worth the time!

this is absolutely gorgeous as it is in the picture, however, i had to have it replaced THREE times due to the desktop being damaged. finally, the third time, it still have a few scratches so i decided to just keep in and live with it. I do still love it, it's just beautiful

Wonderful desk!

Absolutely love this desk!! Very sturdy and well made. Took an experienced furniture builder close to 5 hours to assemble and we were missing a couple of screws near the end, but I had extras from other furniture so we made it work. Keyboard tray was a bit tricky to get just right but after a lot of trial and error, it works great. Debated buying for months and searched many retailers but Walmart had the best price! So happy with this purchase!!

Sturdy, hihgh-quality

This home office set arrived early and was delivered in about 6 heavy boxes. Some of the pieces for each item were mixed between boxes, but no pieces were missing or damaged. There are many steps to assemble, but the directions are very clear; every piece is numbered and there are QR codes to videos explaining the most complicated steps if you can't figure them out. There are NO extra hardware pieces included. Certain steps are definitely more easy to do with two people. I am very pleased with the quality and value of this set, which I got on sale for about $1.4k. The wood is heavy and durable. I don't agree with the reviewer who said it scratches easily, but then again I've only had it for about a week The drawers glide smoothly. None of the holes had to be re-drilled. The filing cabinet space is huge. Since there is no included measurement for the height from desk to bottom of hutch, I took a risk that my monitor would fit. The height is a little under 21 inches. My monitor is a 32inch curved screen and fits underneath with an inch and a half to spare. Overall, I'm super happy with the quality of this office sett, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking to furnish their home office!

It is a good looking desk, very spacious and perfect for various devices. I put 4 stars bc we didn’t realize that a cup seaped water and the material swoll up and now it looks thicker in that area. We are sad this happened I would encourage every one to avoid having drinks or water on desk unless monitored

On the Edge!!!

I paid almost $1,000 for this desk. Came in 3 boxes and all 3 were damaged. Not one main piece made it through shipping. FEDEX was horrible. The driver was mad cause of the size of the boxes and she deliberately dropped one box on the edge of the truck, breaking all the pieces in half and she took a picture of the box she broke in half which proves a lot of the damage. The pieces circled in yellow are all the damaged pieces including the ones broke in half.

Great desk set for hubby's home office

This desk set is perfect for my husband's home office space. But, I would say that Fedex is the worst company for deliveries. They damaged the first desk set delivered, and Overstock sent another one to replace the damaged one. Fedex damaged it too! By the end of it, we received 3 desk sets that were damaged, so we had to pick the least damaged pieces from all three sets to get one complete desk set assembled. Kudos to Overstock for trying to make it right; I just wish they would not use Fedex for deliveries anymore!

Elegant and professional. Use Assembly Option 1!!

The desk is really elegant and professional looking. My only complaint is that if you follow assembly option 2, when you get to step 45 you realize that the subsequent pieces are only drilled for option 1. We had to contact Bush furniture directly and they sent the replacement piece with the he's drilled correctly. It was a pretty big inconvenience to have to wait a week for the correct piece. Otherwise, no other major issues. Minor issue - the left cabinet on the hutch has lines that are not 100 percent in alignment so the cabinet door looks slightly crooked.

This desk is nice and sturdy, definitely heavy. It is a good size and offers ample leg space. The back of the hutch is a coated heavy cardboard rather than a thin piece of wood. You can see where it was folded so I think it cheapens it some. I like the standing desk option but one complaint is that there is about an inch space between where the standing portion connects to the main desk with hutch. So if you decide to work in the corner of the desk and not off to either side, there is a space and it is not level.

Love it! Prefect set for our home office! This is one of my favorite rooms in my house. Been getting alot of compliments for just this piece. Been having to send the link to family members and friends that come over. They all love it. Am hoping this would last a long time thou. Noticed a few dents but I believe it's because of water ring.I need to invest of cup coasters. It too my husband and I over 4hours to setup the whole piece....we mostly used common sense because the instructions where not always very clear. Anyways I believe it was worth the time. Love it!

Disappointed - I Expected Better

Very disappointed overall for many reasons. The board for the top of the hutch was missing from the box and I called to get a replacement. when I hadn't received it after a week, I called to ask and was told it was delayed by weather and should arrive in 2 days. I received one box the following day and another the day after so they must have shipped a second one and not told me. I called to ask about returning the second box. They told me they don't accept returns and it was my problem to dispose of it. So now I have to pay extra for oversized trash removal since it won't fit in my trash can!

Great Quality, Easy to Assemble

The Somerset L shaped desk and hutch is an excellent product. It is manufactured by Bush and was delivered in three boxes. All pieces were well labeled and the instructions were very clear. The drawers are spacious and the hutch is very handsome. It looked better than in the picture. I most highly recommend this for a home office.

Nice desk! It took us many hours to put it all together and then one of the feet got bent trying to slide the heavy desk into place, even though we put felt pads on the feet. Beware...lift to slide to avoid this! My only complaint is the cardboard backing between the hutch and desktop is a bit warped and we couldn’t get it to lay flat. (It comes as a folded piece of cardboard material) I tried applying a beadboard wallpaper to it and the bend in the cardboard became so accentuated, I had to remove the paper...bummer. A thin hard wood veneer would have been much better. I like the lift up desk, though it does move forward quite a bit and you have to lift it to the highest position to get it back down again. We are struggling with getting all the wiring to to reach to the highest position and not get all caught up when the desk lowers. You’ll need long cords! I think I’m going to have to mount the monitor to the wall to avoid this problem. Hope this helps!

Absolutely love this piece! It was half a day’s project for my husband and I to put it together, but well worth it. Assembly was time consuming, but not difficult. The multi level lock for the standing desk is fantastic, as it accommodates both me (5’2”) and my husband (5’11”) both comfortably. Beautiful and sturdy. One of the glass doors arrived spider web cracked during shipping. My husband called the vendor, and they promptly and politely sent us a new one. Definitely recommend!!!

Nice desk but.......

I like the desk but for the cost I paid I expected it to be much better than it was. Twice we had to go to the hardware store because we were not given all the hardware to put it together. The directions were not very good. Hard to understand. It took us 3 days to put it together. When I tried to scoot it into the corner just a couple of feet the corner leg came loose and bent. We had to go buy more wood to fix it. Anyway finally finished and in place. Not quite what I hoped for but it will do for now

My New Work Space

After researching many different sites and offerings I ordered the Shumen 72 Inch L shaped gray desk. Having just moved, our new house had a great little corner that would work fine for an L shaped desk. Since I tend to work on top of my work area, and make "stacks" I was looking for the maximum tabletop workspace. This model provided that. The hutch provided a nice area to store notebooks and reference material that would not be seen when I was not working. The glass doors really look nice with the frosted glass, yet allow just enough visibility to see there is something stored inside. The assembly went together well. No surprises, and then fit was excellent. I was quite pleased with how well the cuts and assembly looked when assembled. It looks as though it was put together at a factory. All the items were included and pretty straightforward in identification of small parts. There were two of us assembling part of the time, however I would say it was about 5 hours assembly for the desk and file cabinet. The hutch took another couple of hours. All of this could have been done a little faster perhaps, however I am quite particular and did not try to rush it. The packaging was quite good. All arrived without damage. Plan on taking it out of the box and moving the panels to the area you are going to use the desk. It will be easier when you move it in final position. I would recommend this desk for anyone looking for a similar configuration.
