Very satisfied with this product

I took my time putting this together, had to redo a step, but that was my fault, I misread the instructions. There is a step that says you need 2 people but I was able to put it together myself. I feel it's sturdy and looks good.I'd recommend it, with the caveat that you take your time putting it together. If this 50+ year old can do it, anyone can LOL.

Quality Coffee Table for a Self Assemble

Looks good and is sturdy. Many steps to assemble, it took me about 3 hours and I'm a handy guy. Actual color/look of finish is darker than what's shown on Sauder's website. I called customer service and they agreed. So... overall I'm happy but disappointed in the color difference. I also find that since it's constructed from engineered wood and finish, one would think it should match exactly as advertised.

Good functionality but poor quality

Really like the functionality of this coffee table. However....this is not real wood and does not look remotely like real wood. It's MDF type product with paper like veneer that is easily scratched. I already plan to replace the top with real wood and potentially paint the bottom portion for longer use before replacing. This was also a bit annoying to put together....lots of pieces!

I would have given this coffee table five stars if I didn't find two little dents or dings in it and it took my brother who is a carpenter by trade 5 hours to put together because of all the hardware. He is a perfectionist also. Beautiful table. Very well built thanks to my brother. It's a shame it's not real wood.

Very Satisfied

Lift-Top Coffee Table fits well within our home with cherry walnut hardwood floors and other cherry wood-stained tables and furniture. Lift mechanism works fine. Perfect for couples who eat their evening meals in front of the TV. Assembly took me about 4-5 hours as you literally build it from scratch. But the instructions are thorough (even encouraging!) and admittedly there is a sense of accomplishment when you are done. . . like finishing a jigsaw puzzle. The size is right for us as it is smaller than other lift tables we own (at a second home). The surface holds two place mats nicely and doesn't overwhelm our rather cozy living area.

A great piece of furniture

This is a great coffee table to go along with my matching end tables . However , I would recommend having someone with experience @ putting together . I had done most of putting it together except the top portion, & ended up having a second person to help me. I have a very impatient sister that tried to help me, and she ended up scratching the inside the inner portion of the coffee table . I had to ask her to leave . The next day I had my Son come over and he put it together in less than 10 minutes. The scratches were easily covered up with a permanent marker . I do love the fact that it raises up to do computer work on it at a great level for me .

I am retired and have a small apartment, so this coffee table was a good size and improved my living room storage space. I use it as a laptop desktop, a living room eating surface and a coffee table so I'm really enjoying the versatility of this piece of furniture! Very easy to put together if you follow the step by step instructions. I used hard cover books to bring the lift top up to the screw holes when attaching the top so my lift top works perfect! It opens and closes with ease.

Nice product for the price.

Nice coffee table. The lift top works well. The top has some sharp edges, but nothing too sharp. This table took a bit more work to put together than other Sauder products I've purchased. The instructions were good, but not as good as previous products I've purchased. One of the main challenge was that the small parts were not labeled (screws, pegs, brackets). So, when the instructions called for 1/4"" screw. I had to make an educated guess of which they screw they were talking about since there were several different screws.

Beautiful and functional. Slides and has small gaps though.

I love the look of this coffee table. I was a bit surprised it is made of MDF at first, because the wood looks real, but once you put it together, it's hard to tell its MDF and its probably good because it's already pretty solid and heavy. Assembly was quite manageable with 2 people, and the lift top function is just great. I can have dinner in front of my TV now! It is quite smooth to operate the lift. Only minor downside is for some reason there are some gaps in the joinery of the wood in the middle (even though everything is tightened flush) and you need to hold the coffee table down when you return the lift top otherwise the whole table moves. This isn't too big a deal for me as I can't see the gaps from on top and we're getting carpet underneath, but good to know if you're pedantic.

Sturdy product, needs better assembly instructions

The directions for assembly could have been a lot better. The pictures on the instructions were very small, and could have been broken down into smaller sub-steps to make the assembly clearer. also, the final step of screwing on the lift-top piece was very difficult with a normal size screwdriver. Actual product is very sturdy. My only complaint about the actual product is that the piston-cylinders do not move in and out at the same speed. The lift top does not lift up evenly because of that.

Love it!

This is exactly what I wanted for my living room. I did not want to pay an exorbitant price but wanted quality. I was looking for a unique color that would match my leather sofa and my new area rug. I found it! I use it to do paperwork, write letters, eat and use my laptop. I was a little nervous about assembly but a friend loves to put these together and has done many pieces before. He pronounced it to be of the best quality, solid construction and well thought out details, such as the 5th leg in the middle of the bottom for added support. He enjoyed the experience and I loved watching. There was just one step when he needed my help for a minute or so! Thank you for a quality item at a fair price.

The coffee table itself is wonderful. Directions for putting it together were clear and manageable. If you cant spend a few hours putting it together then pay for the assembly because it definitely takes time. Highly recommend making sure all of the pieces are there before you assemble. Finished putting the table together only to find it was missing a tack for the bottom so my table wobbles. I got 3 instead of 4 tacks for the legs. They dont send just the piece so I have to take them all off the bottom and come up with my own bottoms. Walmart adjusted the price which was nice but thats only because the other option is to disassemble the table and return the whole thing. Pretty frustrating if you ask me. Ive definitely had a very bad month with Walmart quality control. This isnt the first issue Ive had with my items. Considering shopping elsewhere and just paying more for better quality control.

I wish I could give ZERO stars!

I spent the majority of the night putting this coffee table together with my wife as it was part of her Christmas present. Once everything was assembled it was time to put the top on, when I put the brackets on the top part that lifts I noticed that the pre-drilled holes only lined up one way, awesome. Then I attached it to the rest of the piece and the brackets were clearly backwards! But wait, the holes only match one way. . . so no biggie, I flip the brackets make my own hole for the middle screw all is well. . . looking good get everything seated and screwed in, close the top AND NOW THERE'S A 2 1/4"" GAP. I have been trying to reach out to this company for 12 hours and can't get through on live chat, can't get through on phone, no one answering my email. . . . wow!

Awesome Coffee Table for the Price!

Awesome Coffee Table for the Price! It looks great and has great lift top functionality! However, my only word of caution is that its super subjective to wear and tear for regular use. I have had this coffee table for a little less than a year and am not rough on it but it has scratches and knicks that are now white from regular use. I am not rough with it but want people to know to be cautious of putting things on it that could potentially scratch it because it will scratch. Im super happy with the purchase though, especially for the price because it looks nice, has good storage and I love the openings at the bottom for storage bins! Would recommend this coffee table to anyone!

First Coffee Table Ever

I like this coffee table a lot. Good price. Nice look. Good design. Sturdy. I like the lift top, but I now think drawers would be easier to use and more practical. Overall the assembly instructions were quite good. The many pieces were well organized, but there were a couple of steps that could have been just a little more explicit. A couple of times my friends who helped with the assembly and I had things backwards and had to undo and redo to get them in the right direction. It's possible that people with more experience assembling furniture wouldn't have been confused. Still it took only 2-3 hours to complete the job, which I think was less than some other reviews said.

I really like the Sauder Carson Forge cabinets, love the color of the finish and it should last me for quite some time. I purchased two bookcases, the TV credenza, the lift top coffee table, and two nightstands that I use for end tables. These come NOT put together (which I was expecting) and they each come packaged into one box that were well protected with heavy cardboard "L's" at each box corner. UPS delivered all the boxes at the same time and being by my self dragged them into the garage then into the house. Each box was extremely heavy, I got several black and blue bruises on my arms. It took a total of two weekends to put everything together. They recommend two people to put these together, but like I said I did all by myself. The TV credenza is huge (my flat screen is a 58 inch!) and to manhandle it was daunting to say the least. Instructions were well laid out and easy to understand, all parts and pieces were included. Once everything was put together, I am pleased with my purchase! Purchased from Walmart and of course FREE shipping.

Great coffee table

This is just what I was looking for! It makes eating in front of the TV much more convenient and comfortable.

Height is great, very sturdy

A little pricey but it is very sturdy. Instructions have gotten bad reviews by other people but I thought they were clear (and funny at times) but I have assembled furniture since college so maybe I’m used to the way things should fit? While it was easy, it took a very long time and you do need a second person for the last few steps. For the quality of the wood, I’d expect this to be $150 but there are nice extra pieces to it that add depth to the piece which makes it look a little more expensive. Lift top IS very taught as others have said. Hard to do with just one hand. Maybe it will loosen over time. But, it’s not enough of a reason to not recommend this table. Color might be hard to match to other items in your house unless you buy from this line but it’s close enough. Would buy again, do recommend, happy with the purchase.

Very nice coffee table with nice details

I was looking for a lift top coffee table but didn't have a lot to spend and this fit the bill. I am very pleased with the color of the wood - I would say a med-dark rustic looking wood finish. I have kind of a 'farm' theme going on and it works perfect but it could also work in a Craftsman or other casual setting. The details are nice with the raised panels and metal accents. The height is perfect and with the top raised perfect to sit at the sofa to eat or work. Plus the bonus storage is a plus. My only concern will be longevity and I would say it's important to pull up the top with both hands from the center. BUT for the price I would highly recommend this. It looked daunting when opening the box but took about two hours to put together without any issues. instructions were clear. I would suggest reading them over once before starting. I'm very pleased with this purchase!
