I’m just returning to sewing and just finished one of these placemats. I marked the quarter-inch sewing line to follow and am very happy with the results. The red-and-white check napkins are really cute with the placement!

I have made a number of these “quilt as you go” projects. They are fun and relaxing because the results are consistently excellent—I consider them “a sure thing.” Directions are clear and easy to follow. Yet they allow lots of creativity in the selection of fabrics (and perhaps final embellishments). I am very happy with how these placemats are turning out!
