It's easy to clean without the holes in it like the 250W model. Keeps the water from icing when much colder also at 500W

These kept my water thawed in -50

I left two of these de-icers in full tanks of water, for a full week of -40 to -50 temps. No livestock drinking from them, no insulation, completely exposed to the wind in an open field.. and the water still hasn't froze. Best de-icers I've ever used.

Works perfectly

So far I like it better than the other I have. It hasn't rusted, accumulated buildup and it most importantly is doing its job.

Great little de-icer

I have it in a plastic half barrel about 25 gallons of water. It worked great until we hit temperatures in the low teens for over a week. It froze over the top except for about a 6 inch hole just above the de-icer, but the inside didn't freeze. We had a lot of wind with the low temps, so I'm guessing that's why it only froze on top. My dog was still able to get water and once I broke up the ice it didn't do it again. Otherwise, it's been perfect. I bought 2 so I'd have a backup if needed. I also made an over-the-side 1 1/4 inch pipe elbow to protect the cord and hold it in place. Works great and the dog doesn't mess with it. I'd buy it again.

Like it it works great

I have used this deicer for many years. It works well in my automatic stock waterers. However, with the quality of my water, they only last 2 or 3 winter seasons.

This will keep my water feature from freezing over.

Bought one of the 250 watt models in November and it quit working in January will replace it under warranty and hope the replacement is from a another lot and lasts a lot longer

Great look, just be aware a little less light

I chose this light because it is different than typical bathroom vanity lights. I really like it and used it along with the blue ones in all of our bathrooms. I am giving it 4 stars because I want buyers to be aware that the solid shades do restrict the amount of light the fixture gives the room. All that being said I am happy with them.

when it's new it works great. once it gets the least little bit of buildup on it, it shorts out and quits working.

Perfect for water tank

This de-icer works great for keeping my horses' plastic water tank thawed in the winter. Even in single digits, there's no ice in the tank!

Great Product. Does not last long.

Love the product. Only complaint is that they break in about a year.

Good water heater

durable and stays on the bottom of the water container

I use it to keep the water from freezing in a an approximate four feet free standing waterfall. The reason I purchased this particular one was the length of the cord. The plug on the others all sat on top of the ledge. The birds, squirrels and other animals that pass through are very happy to have water throughout the winter.

Works well in subzero temps

I ordered this a couple of months back but waited to review it until we had colder temps. It has kept the water ice free in a 75 gallon plastic stock tank even when temps have hit 10 below overnight and stayed below freezing for days at a time. At this point I am very pleased with the performance of the unit.
