The Acorn is MY grill. I got a BGE, thinking I was upping my grill game and immediately regretted the decision. I missed the responsiveness of the Acorn! I sold that BGE and got a new Acorn again. I could not be happier.

I bought this years ago as my first charcoal grill. The grill cooks meat, vegetables, pizzas all perfectly. Super easy to use and maintain and extremely reliable. I have recommended it multiple times for its great value.

Akorn Kamado

I have used several times. Had to fix ine issue with gasket leaking. I was aware of the issue prior to purchase. Easy fix ... Just apply high temperature foam gasket in addition to existing gasket on both lid and ash collector. Cost less than 1000 peso. Unit control of temperature is very good, efficient use of charcoal. However charcoal in Philippines is not consistent in combustion temperature, so some experiments are needed to see what works for each type of cook. A supply of high quality charcoal would fix this.

I was given my first Akorn close to 8 years ago and never looked back. I’m on my second Akorn now and there really isn’t any comparison to any other type of fuel source for grilling for flavor. There might be a learning curve if you’re coming from propane but once you figured out your draft settings you can smoke about as long as you want without hardly any changes. Grilling anything from vegetables to meats will give you flavors that you just can’t get with propane or pellets. Do yourself a favor and step over to the Akorn lineup!! Since I’ve owned mine and have done cookouts with it, I have switched several family members over to the Akorn…. The mini Akorn is on my wishlist!

I have had my akorns for a few years now. Works just as well as any kamado out there. Holds temp forever and heats evenly giving a great outcome every time without babysitting a offset but still not just plugging it in and walking away.

My version has different configuration with just one large side shelf on the right, which needs replaced. It is plastic and not heat resistant so has suffered some melting in spots. The grill itself is very satisfactory - best charcoal grill.

This is My second Char-Griller Akorn grill! My 1st one served Me for many years but eventually wore out. I love the way You can smoke with it! It is so air tight that it keeps the same temperature for hours! I use lump charcoal minimizing ash even tho it’s quick and easy to clean. It’s great as a grill also! I have recommended My grill to numerous people, and they are surprised at the price too!
