Simple and easy to use!
Simple and lightweight. Like other reviews said the
Awesome product
This product is great to use when you go camping or if power is out . I recommend for everyone to have this great product on hand. I love the color of it . And this product is very easily to clean up. I very glad I decided to buy me one .
Nice tabletop grill
The grill worked great. Was nice and hot; cooked food well. The reason for a four star instead of a five star was because cleaning the inside of the base after use was somewhat difficult. Do check for damage upon receipt of the item. We ordered 2 and the 2nd one was damaged. You only have 30 days to return it. Not the usual 90 days.
Summer Grilling
I found that this year's model was very hard to put together and had to get help from a neighbor. once it was done and I began using it I felt that it cooked unevenly depending on which side of the grill the meat was on. but overall after the meal was cooked the burgers and hot dogs came out very well. I would recommend it but expect it to be hard to assemble. I've been getting tabletop grills for several years now and was always able to put them together by myself but like I said above this one I just could not do.
Nice but not as adaptable is older ones
a lot more trouble to put together then the ones that I had from 40 years ago I believe they were Coleman. but those are much much more expensive now luckily to find this one on sale I wish I was able to use both types of propane bottles the tall and the short once I got it with the directions and saw it and realize it wasn't as adaptable I have to wait to get the propane it's not as easily fiound anymore. but all in all it's nice to have when you can't use a gas grill on your patio at your apartment so many restrictions you can at least take this to one of the picnic tables and and utilize it instead of the garbage charcoal grills they haven't planted in the ground
Great BBQ Grill...I purchased 3 of them..
This grill is great. I bought one about 2 years ago,and just replaced it last week. Good quality, nice wide heat shield which helps from that item getting damaged over continuous heating of grill. I like the grill so much,I just bought 3 of them, on sale. The only problem is WalMart never puts the grill in another protected box,so my first grill had a bend lid and never fit right, and 1 of my 3 grills, had a torn box and dent in my grill. They were out of stock online, otherwise I would of taken it back to the store. The boxes are cheap and the grill is made of tin,so they will get damaged every time they are shipped. WalMart could do a better job of packing them in a protective box when shipped. The dent in the grill doesn't effect it's cooking, but when you buy a new product,it shouldn't be damaged.
Great little grill
Good size for tailgating..used for 4 burgers and 4 dogs .. plenty of room. Perfect size for kabobs too!
This thing worked pretty well as far as cooking the meat. It had two very important flaws though. The ignitor didn't work ever and the regulator properly didn't work either. As soon as you hook up the bottle propane is being released into the burn chamber. I had to have a lighter going inside at the same time screwing the bottle in the last few threads. The first time I lite it with a light I burned the hair off my lower arm. To be honest you would be better off buying the model without the auto ignitor. I use this one for seven days straight. It cooked everything well. Another hint. This thing flames out. Which is very dangerous. I watch several video reviews on it before the trip and drilled 2 1/4 holes in the front, back and both sides. Never flamed out. For the prices I'm happy. Would I recommend this to a novice griller. Heck no!!!!
horrible grill, don't buy
I had this little grill years ago and it was great. I've upgraded since, but needed something small and portable again so I repurchased. It arrived with a dent in the cover. No big deal. The grounding wire was too short but after watching YouTube videos I figured out how to rig it. Two issues I could deal with, but heating up the first time within 1 min on high the paint bubbled all over the cover. I was on a camping trip so had to continue to use. The 3rd time using the flame was all crazy and not consistent. One side wasn't even working. It took forever just to heat hot dogs. I thought maybe it was the propane so I switched it out to a new one. Nope, same issues. I've used it 4 times and I don't have the box anymore to return. Complete piece of junk and waste of money.
PUSH START is only reason I bought a new one!
There was NOTHING WRONG with my other model except they came out with this one and it had push-to-start… and I wanted that!
Great grill!
It doesn't take long to put it together but you do need a screwdriver. It's a nice little grill, very portable and light weight. I haven't cooked on it yet but everything is working as it should. Initially I was having trouble with the ignition spark because the wire was pointing on the wrong direction but it was a very easy fix. This is great for a quick tailgate cookout at the lake or for camping.
Not bad for the money
For the money—not too bad. Putting it together was very easy, UNTIL I got to the right side handle. The ground wire as mentioned in other reviews is indeed too short. Fast fix? I drilled a hole halfway along said handle and passed the ground wire down through it. Not sure if it’s actually the ground or if it’s the igniter positive wire…either way I got it to work by modifying the handle a bit. So when you’re assembling one of these; remember it helps to be handy! It fires right up first push of the button now. The only other thing I see that could fail early is the regulator. It feels cheap and very low quality. But I got this on rollback for under $35 so I can’t complain. This is a good tailgating or camping grill. It’s nice and portable and quite light weight. I wouldn’t rely on it as a constitent primary source of cooking though.
Decent for the price.
This was relatively simple to assemble other than the igniter wire was a tad short. The operation was simple. Connected propane, turned knob, waited a couple seconds, pressed the button and it lit. The heat was not as much as I had hoped. I allowed it to get hot for about 5 minutes before starting to cook, but it took a longer time to cook a chicken breast than on other gas grills I've had. Overall, a good price and quality was decent. I wish the regulator was adjustable so I could turn up the heat more for a better flame broiling.
its what you would exoect for 40 bucks
Got this and put it together. The igniters ground wire was too short , so I attached it behind the screw for the handle and haven't had an issue with it not working. First time turning it on I had to use a lighter , but I had the sun in my eyes and didnt see the glame so I assumed it didnt start.
Overall good grill with a couple of small problems
Make sure you put this together when you can take your time and do it right. The instructions could have been a little better but reading the instructions and looking at the pictures worked well enough.
Check out Weber or Primus before buying Char-Broil
(In my opinion)This grill is garbage!! I bought it new and assembled it at our camp site. It was easy to assemble, but that was the best part of this grill. The ground wire had a loose connection making the igniter work sporadically. The temp would not adjust so it started on med and stayed there. The burner plate protector collected so much drippings and sauce that it caught fire. Even after the fire was out, I was not willing to take a chance on using it again because it had ruined our camp dining experience and not wanting anyone else to use it for fear of them getting hurt, I threw it the dumpster, after rendering it inoperable. I had the old model of this same grill for 10 years without a problem, ever!! Thank you Char-Broil for making great products in the past, but your new table top model is garbage!! (In my opinion.)
Broken pieces. Way too much work to assemble s
Bought this for a camping trip. First mistake was not putting it together until we were there. Putting it together was a pain. The propane connection, ground wire, ect....all of that has to be assembled. The directions are not the best, and We couldn't figure out what we were doing wrong. Then we realized the ground wire that was supposed to be pre- connected to the inside of the handle and lighting mechanism had fallen off the connection. There was no way for us to get it back in, so we were left with no bbq. Thank goodness we had also brought a butane cook top or we would've been SOL. Im returning and NOT getting another one.
Works, but a bear to put together
As a teacher I always start with the good things. Although it was inexpensive, it has a substantial base. I also like that the cooking grate is easy to clean, which cannot be said for the heat plate. The plate should be made of more substantial material. Now the bad. The instruction say "assembly time" 10-15 minutes. Laughable, except the laugh would be on me. Fortunately the manager of TSC was kind enough to put it together for me, and although he said he had done this before, it took him over a half hour, and one screw was missing. Your instruction page is woefully inadequate. For instance, there should be an explanation for what the symbols on the regulator valve mean for those not born knowing that mean. I have no idea what the hinge brackets are there for. I thought K, L, J, and M were missing, but were already attached, that would have been good to know. The good news is that the grill worked. My ribs and shikabob browned nicely, so after all the exasperation of trying to assemble it, I am satisfied so far with my purchase.
I'm Not Happy. And too much trouble to return.
This grill is maybe worth the price in that it does cook food. However, the regulator only works on high; when I tried to set it lower, the flame would go out - and this with a full 20lb tank I hooked up with an adapter. The burner flame is not uniform under. the heat plate, so it cooks very unevenly: hot spots and cold spots, over cooked on the left and under cooked on the right. Also, the legs are flimsy and unstable; I reversed them for a wider base and that helped a little. So for small, quick, couple of burgers or pcs of chicken, it's OK. But for real gas grilling? Better look elsewhere, and spend more money..
Great for beginner
I bought this grill for my son to learn how to grill foods. The grill is great for a beginner. I had one major assembly problem. The manufacturer did not make the ground wire long enough to assemble per the directions. I took the grill to a man friend of mine who happens to be very handy with mechanical and electrical projects. He had all the parts on hand to add a extension pigtail with proper crimps to the existing ground wire. After modification of the wire length, the grill works properly and is grounded safely. Hopefully, this was an isolated manufacturing defect, if not, you will have to take the grill back to the store.
