No pilot holes

Purchased the almond and espresso set and after assembling the first chair, I came to the last piece which is the espresso seat portion and realized there were no pilot holes. Attempted to eyeball it but after setting it up it was totally out of alignment. Neither seatbed had pilot holes so it was a manufacturing error that must have affected multiple sets. Check the pieces before assembling as a cautionary step, I just wasted an hour of my time for nothing.

Durable chairs, not too difficult to put together. It's important to do the final tightening of the screws and bolts after you have placed all four legs on the ground. And before you screw the seat on. Otherwise, the chairs will rock a bit. There were, for some reason, some drill hole burrs on the underside of the top railing of the seat back. Not sure why. Nothing is fastened there. No problem though: five minutes with medium sandpaper on the underside of all six top rails to remove the burrs. Not sure how they will hold up but so far, so good. It seems - with all the shopping that we did before we purchased - that you have to spend at least this much or you get junk. I've learned that it is very important to buy only chairs that have solid, one-piece back legs that go from the floor all the way to the top of the chair. Chairs with two or more pieces can be dangerous, especially if someone leans back. But these chairs seem good and give our dining area the "cottagy" feel we wanted.
